summary traffic violation. the driver told him he had a gun and was going to shoot them, and he ended up stealing their police cruiser. he drove the baltimore county police cruiser to a motel in south baltimore, were he abandoned it and got into a dark suv. baltimore county, baltimore city, and anne arundel county police chased the suv, stopped it, arrested three people inside, and the fourth suspect, their original suspect, fled in the suv and drove to the 34 block of annapolis road, where he was stopped by baltimore county and anne arundel county police and subsequently shot. police say they will be releasing more information as it becomes available and will offer -- still waiting to hear from baltimore county police and their own version of how all this unfolded. so far, they are not commenting. i am old belser, wbal-tv 11 news -- i am lowell melser, wbal-tv

11 news. >> lawyers for the abortion doctor accused of killing five fetuses in maryland are requesting the charges be dismissed. the state charges it should be thrown out against dr. steven brigham, including the fact it fetuses died in new jersey and not maryland. he lost his medical license after he had patients drive to maryland to complete procedures. a queen anne's county man is charged with contaminating a grocery store case full of meat. john waskey is accused of going back to his old job and pouring bleach over packages of chicken and pork. security video captured the incident and allowed officials to pull the items before they got in the hands of customers. he is charged with malicious destruction of property and contaminating or poisoning food and drink. officials are trying to figure

out what sparked a two-alarm fire. crews responded to abingdon ave. luckily, no one was injured. in today's "session at 2012" coverage, those for and against legalizing same-sex marriage are voicing their opinions and a friend of the maryland senate judiciary proceedings committee -- in front of the maryland senate judiciary proceedings committee did last year the senate passed a version of the bill, but it stalled in the house over religious and family values conservatives. this year the bill offers protections to religious institutions that do not support same-sex unions. protesters share their opinions with 11 news at a rally outside the statehouse. >> even though language in the

bill suggests that we may not as a church be responsible or held in contempt of the law, it is still so ambiguous that it suggests that there is still possibility. >> i support the governor's bill to protect religious liberty and allowing families to be protected regardless of the sexual orientation. this is about family, and not discriminating against the american family because someone is gay. >> the governor is expected to testify during today's hearing. the price at the pump could see another job if martin o'malley gets his way. the governor is proposing to add a sales tax to the gas tax already in effect, driving up the price of gas by as much as 21 cents in the next three years. it would generate an estimated $613 million, which would go to fixing roads and bridges and expanding mass transit. >> without a consensus to raise the sales tax by a penny and

>> a pizza shop run for re in upstate new york got way out of hand last week, and it was caught on tape. this man objected to a road sign slamming his parents' restaurant, so he got into a jeep and ran it down. he pleaded not guilty and is out on bail. all a 6-year-old utah girl wanted for but it was for her father to come home from afghanistan. >> that is my only birthday present. >> love it. the sergeant surprise to the girl at her elementary school. he will play again before too long.

the opposite of a cold snap today, with mild air from the south of the way into the east. 50s and 60s anywhere from baltimore to atlanta, dallas as well. everyone is pushing across the east. a look at the temperatures across the state. 59 in college park, 59 in frederick. around the rest of the day, 57 in easton. we have some clouds, but other than that, the sunshine is helping things to warm up. a few high clouds making it hazy out. maybe a bit more clearing as we head towards the evening hours. large area to form air pushing towards the south. war front is lifting to the northeast. behind it, cold front, the way.

officials at the fda have a approved the first drug to treat basal cell carcinoma. it is for patients who are not candidates for surgery or radiation. more than 40% of patients with locally advanced disease had a complete or partial response to the drug. the most common side effects were muscle spasms, or loss, fatigue. manufacturers say the drug will be available in a couple of weeks. doctors are not sure why these incidents are on the rise. family history is a risk factor, and so is radiation exposure and being a female. is three times more common in women than in men. according to the american cancer society, the five-year survival rate for all five board cancer patients is 97%.
