tonight, police are searching for this man, suspected in a string of larcenies and baltimore city. that is our big story tonight. i am rod daniels. police say the bust happened on boston street. the number of victims is unknown. detectives need your help to track down the suspects. we are joined live from canton with the latest on this investigation. >> police say the suspect went into someone's card which a car, and use the credit card at a nearby business. there were able to get a surveillance picture of him and hope someone out there and recognize him. >> this has been a problem for baltimore for a while now, largely for marlow. >> baltimore city police think this man may be responsible for a string of crimes in the canton area. this happened near the 800 block

of boston street last month. >> we know he took credit cards, things of that nature. a short time later, he used those at a local business. >> i was surprised. i would expect it in other parts of the city. >> i guess i am concerned because i live around the area. i am thinking about why that occurred and what i can do to make sure it does not happen to me. >> we have people out here looking to do just this -- breaking into your car and take your belongings. now you have the problem of giving the vehicle fixed, your business replaced, and things of that nature. >> take a step back and make sure your cellphone, gps, and other valuables cannot be seen from outside your car. it will stop you from becoming a victim of these. despite recent thefts, drivers are not concerned.

girl. investigators said police arrested ted bryant yesterday, when dna link him to the august 21 incident. they are told he was driving his taxicab when he stopped to offer the 14-year-old a ride home. that is when authorities say he assaulted her and she dropped her in west baltimore. meanwhile, police need help finding a man they say it when it -- they say rob two women in the park as they were leaving a restaurant in the 4800 block. the victims told police the suspect approached them, threaten to shoot them, and then made off with one victim's per se after a struggle. -- purse after a struggle. >> that are taking unsuspecting people. if you find someone who you suspect, just call. >> police will install

additional lighting in that area. noda charges will be filed against either teenager involved in a fight near the high school. the incident happened last friday and ended with one teenager having to undergo surgery for serious injuries. investigators are saying that 18-year-old but them was the aggressor in the altercation. he approached his 15 year old friend and assaultive him over what was later called the misunderstanding. the liberation of continue tomorrow in the trial of an inmate accused of killing a corrections officer in jesup. both sides delivered closing arguments today in the murder trial of the corporal. prosecutors claim 32-year-old lee stevens and another inmate cornered him and stabbed him to death. if convicted, stevens faces the death penalty. a presidential historian from the york accused of stealing documents from the maryland historical society and other institutions is expected to

enter a new plea. barry landau is expected to be arraigned in federal count downtown. he pleaded not guilty to stealing documents from the maryland historical society last summer. landau is now expected to plead guilty. prosecutors say he and an assistant have about a presidential hard facts. the assistant also originally pleaded not guilty and changed his plea in october. earlier today, the governor delivered his annual state of the state address in annapolis. he called on the general assembly to pass his legislative agenda, much of which will impact the wallets of state residents. david collins has more on the speech. the coming days. in annapolis, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the city board of estimates has released a much of a cost taxpayers for the mayor's business trips. there is a police security detail who travels on the trips. nearly $4,000 were spent on officers accompanying the mayor on recent business trips to chicago, boston, and five days in aspen, colorado. if you received your property tax assessment in the mail recently, chances are the value of your property has dropped. tonight, the councilman had a hearing to give residents a chance to get vital information about the process. we are live at city hall with details. >> this was an informational meeting, a chance for council members and residents to hear from property tax assessment experts and ask questions. it is a sign of our economic times.

nationwide, new home sales hit a record low in 2011. property values of homes dropped 20% in the last three years. >> some believe the assessment is uneven, which translates to unfair. >> as chair of the economic development committee, he has heard from dozens of baltimore residents concerned about property tax assessments. >> that are calling and saying their property is valued too high compared to properties next door. is mourning the death of a music lesson. don cornelius, the host of sultan, -- of "soul train" died of an apparent suicide. >> it was the first tv dance show to prominently feature african-americans, and played a critical role in bringing r&b music to mainstream america. the creator died of an apparent suicide early this morning. police responded to reports of gunfire around 4:00 a.m. at his mulholland drive home. when they arrived, they found the 75-year-old with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. he was pronounced dead an hour later at the los angeles area hospital. he has a star on hollywood walk of fame. sultry and was one of the longest-running syndicated shows

a 70 degree temperature to start the month at the airport. the record is 75 in 2002. the low so far -- 50. that is the warmest low temperature we have ever had on the first of february. 54 degrees at the airport. 58 near the science center. it is likely cooler air will come in from the north and west. the cold front is dropping in from that direction and would get through here by morning. ahead of the front, we are seeing showers and a wave of low pressure. potentially, there will be rain, especially south of baltimore into southern maryland. wet weather crossing the lower eastern shore of southern delaware at 6:00 a.m. thursday. partly cloudy skies in southern pennsylvania. wet weather to our south. the morning should be mostly cloudy. further south, a better chance of having to do with a little rain.

the mild flow of southwesterly wind will move off the coast tomorrow as this front flows through. it is not an arctic front or a blast of bitter cold. to the northwest, temperatures are not bad at all. there could be wet weather for super bowl weekend. right now, it is only 35 in chicago. 32 in minneapolis. not all that called for early february. the sky is clearing. the temperatures will drop a little bit. the state above normal for the next seven days. the western storm approaches in the mountains of west virginia and virginia by saturday evening. saturday night, the rain will start pushing into baltimore. the shower south of town in the morning. a little cooler than today. still 10 to 15 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year. tomorrow sunny and 40 on friday.
