towards the beltway northeast. not tracking anything significant on 895. 57 on the west side outer loop just past 70. the rest of the major roadways concealer to run smoothly and that includes 295 running southbound. 11 minutes on the west side outer loop. this is the fort mchenry. southbound traffic looks pretty good into the tunnel. this is traffic in the area of the key bridge. we're doing quite well at this hour. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> a state trooper is rushed to shock trauma after it late-night chase. >> jennifer franciotti joins us

live outside with the details. >> it is remarkable this trooper was not hurt more badly that he was. the trooper was traveling on southbound 152 when somebody came up behind him flashing his lights and driving erratically. the trooper tried to pull the suspect over. the suspect is from harford county. ended up going in the northbound direction and that is when the suspect ran to the troope. r. the trooper rammed a fence. that suspect took off. as always being monitored. a deputy was able to spot the vehicle. the suspect crashed in abington.

the suspect was not hurt but he was taken into police custody. he is facing a number of charges including first-degree assault and many other traffic violations. the trooper was brought to shock trauma and was treated and released. he is expected to be ok. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. fallen police officer will be memorialized by having a city block named after him this morning. a road will be renamed william h. torbit way. he was shot and killed by friendly fire while responding to reports of a fight outside the select lounge. other officers did not realize he was a fellow officer.

[cheers and applause] so i'm for replacing the safety net with a trampoline. >> rick santorum also jumped into the fray. >> what country does he live in? i mean, the very poor are always the ones who bear the greatest brunt when an economy is struggling. >> mitt romney says he misspoke and repeated that he's focused primarily on helping the

struggling middle class. >> you know, when you do i don't know how many thousands of interviews, now and then you may get it wrong, and i misspoke. >> after losing florida and losing big, newt gingrich is now protesting that state's winner-take-all rules, saying delegates should now be awarded proportionally. kate amara, wbal-tv 11 news. >> maryland republican congressman andy harris is accused of stifling the first amendment rights of a filmmaker. he was holding a public hearing into the natural gas drilling process known as frankincking. ordered john fox to be arrested . they complained fox did not have a permit to film the hearing. >> four men have been arrested associated with a deadly shooting at the towson town center.

police were able to arrest tyrone brown, frank williams, jermell brandon, and william ward for the shooting death of 19-year-old rodney pridget. police say the four man saw the man and coordinated the attack outside the mall. >> they put this together like the pieces of a puzzle and do the detective work that it takes to cooperate evidence like this. >> police have not made it clear what prompted the man to target pridget. a man in towson was kidnapped. this happened there washington avenue around 5:00 p.m. last thursday. two man pulled a gun and forced him to withdraw money from an atm before dumping him off in the city. residents are alarmed. >> they call me off guard.

it was so crazy it happened so close to a college. >> it is scary. i was walking by myself. >> police have a vague description of the suspects as they continue their investigation. >> an alleged assault at the hands of a police officer. video was taken from it camera back in 2010 and it shows a man named ricky thomas duck around a corner. then, an officer with a spotlight -- a flash light spots him. another officer identified as donyell briggs punches thomas in the face and appears to stomp on him. is a criminal investigation. >> he was given a probation

before judgment. the police department will have an internal investigation. >> at investigation could lead to several outcomes including termination. mta police have released a surveillance photo after a robbery in northeast baltimore. police say this man robs another man and then fled on foot. happened at 6:00 a.m. on january 8. call the mta place if you have any information. >> the government is blowing down the obstacles from keeping maryland from developing wind power energy. ken salazar announced a review found no environmental problems with the plan that puts wind turbines 10 miles off the

6:13. 40 degrees downtown. all is quiet on this morning. things will change by the time we get to super bowl sunday.

32 at the airport. 29 in parkton. there are some clouds out this morning. it will be a beautiful sunrise. this storm in the rocky mountains -- denver is getting hammered. they may pick up 20 inches of snow. some of that energy may give some rain or snow by the time we get to sunday. high pressure will be in control. we expect sunshine. are still above average. tonight, mostly clear skies. sunrise -- sunset at 5:29. high pressure will be control and it will block it tomorrow.

we will see an increase in the cloud cover. some of that storm will slide south of us on sunday across the virginia-north carolina border. it will be cold enough for a mix of rain and snow on sunday. if it shifts north, we could have more snow than rain. we will keep an eye on that. 48 today. there could be some rain showers at night on saturday. a mix of light rain or snow on super bowl sunday. temperatures back in the upper 40's by the middle of next week. 6:15. >> not too bad out there. this is 95. 59 miles per hour down towards

the former defensive coordinator faces more than 50 counts of child sex abuse. his next court appearance is set for february 10. michael bloomberg is stepping up to the plate after funding was pulled this week. he will match up to $250,000 for planned parenthood. that funding was cut citing new policy guidelines. a judge is granted a delay in the court-martial of a soldier in the shooting at fort hood. the defense needs more time to prepare its case.

the massacre left 13 dead and 32 wounded was the worst mass shooting on a u.s. military installation. if convicted, he faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole. >> if you fly spirit airlines, an unusual? fee is tacking on $2. it is a way to combat new federal regulations like granting passengers the ability to change flights within 24 hours of booking without paying a penalty. they have launched an ad campaign. americans are gearing up to spend big bucks on valentine's days. consumer is will spend an average of $126

we have no right to complain -- a little cooler this morning. >> it will feel kind of chilly. .t is in the 30's right now we will make it up to 48 this afternoon. things will change as we move into the weekend. there could be some light rain or snow. >> and overnight traffic stop ends with a state trooper being sent to shock trauma up. >> jennifer franciotti is live with more details. >> this happened in harford county one minute after midnight. the trooper was in an unmarked police cruiser when he was traveling on mountain road and somebody came up behind and traveling at a higher rate of speed. the trooper did pursue that vehicle. they changed directions.

the suspect hit the cruiser. the cruiser went into a fence. it missed his head. he was taken to shock trauma. the suspect kept going and was later spotted by a sheriff's deputy. that pursuit ended in a crash in abington. that suspect is a 22-year-old man and is in the process of being booked facing numerous charges including first-degree assault. as for the trooper, he was brought to shock trauma and has been since treated and released. he is going to be ok. jennifer franciotti reporting live. >> a jury will resume

deliberations on monday. lee stephens is facing the death penalty. prosecutors say the person was stabbed to death in the former house of corrections in jessup. jury asked for more evidence on thursday. >> a man was stopped after trying to bring a cattle prod in his carry-on luggage. richard perrucci was cited for caring an unauthorized weapon on tuesday. was allowed to board his flight after surrendered the weapon. >> man will spend three years behind bars after mutilate three cats. in march of 2011, an investigation was launched after ethan weibman returned to its dead cats to a shelter.

a beautiful sunrise. go outside and check that out. a big storm in the rocky mountains is producing blizzard conditions around denver. a piece of that storm is going to slide across the country and maybe give us a chance for some light rain or snow on superbowl sunday. cooler conditions today but not bad for february. and rise in about 30 minutes -- sunrise in about 30 minutes. that storm starts to move into the plains states tomorrow. high pressure will block that activity. clouds will thicken up. the weather will be fine on saturday. that energy on sunday will

jennifer franciotti has the dramatic story. >> police are grateful that there trooper is alive this morning. suspect in gauge the trooper overnight. this happened just after midnight -- the suspect engaged the trooper overnight. the vehicle was coming up behind at a high rate of speed and driving erratically. trooper pursuit of this vehicle and at some point they changed direction. that is what the suspect ran to the patrol car -- rammed that patrol car. the cruiser went into the fence. defense narrowly missed his head. -- the fence narrowly missed his head.

a deputy was able to track down the suspect. that led to another pursuit that ended in a crash in abington. suspect was taken into custody and is facing a number of charges including first-degree assault and multiple traffic violations. the trooper was brought to shock trauma where he was treated and released. he does have some bruises and cuts but otherwise is expected to be ok. report alive, jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> crisis in the middle east. is really attack on iran -- israeli attack on iran could happen any matter of months. are too many kids being treated
