we're back with more of "today" on a friday morning, 3rd day of february 2012. a big crowd of people gathered in indianapolis in advance of super bowl xlvi coming up on sunday. al and ann have been there all morning long. we'll check inith them in just a second. meanwhile in new york city we have a nice crowd gathered as well. we have a bunch of patriots fans here. i'm not sure what's going on with that. we have to call out friends of the giants. i'm matt lauer along with savannah guthrie. you're headed out to indianapolis also. >> i am. saturday night we'll have partying with natalie, ann, al and i and then the show from the stadium sunday morning. >> they are bracing for your arrival. ann and al, how are you doing? >> it's been so great. i can't overstate how warm everyone here has been. this is one of the most generous, warm, welcoming crowds i have ever seen. >> from the time we got off the plane at the airport to downtown. everybody's been great. >> they are so excited about the game. so excited to see al roker. we have much more coming from here on the show including a look at the commercials. what else do we have? >> we'll meet three guys in the most exclusive club in the world. they have gone to every super bowl. >> wow. >> we're going to sit down and

talk with them. we met them a couple years ago in tampa. we'll get to meet them again and see how they are holding up and what they are looking for out of this game. >> matt and savannah, what do you have coming up? >> from here in new york we'll talk to barbara corcoran about how far your money can go when it comes to buying a house. we have great homes from miami to new mexico. >> let's go inside to natalie at the news desk with the headlines. >> good morning, everyone. we begin with good news on the economy. the january jobs report is out. it shows that the nation's unemployment rate has fallen to 8.3%. that's the lowest it has been in three years. january marks the fifth consecutive month that the unemployment rate uh has dropped as employers added 243,000 jobs. tension between israel and iran is mounting and has u.s. officials concerned about a further escalation. defense secretary leon panetta

believes tel aviv will launch a strike in april, may or june targeting the nuclear weapons facility according to the washington post. panetta has refused to comment on the report. blizzard warnings are in effect in colorado, kansas and nebraska as a major winter storm threatens to dump two feet of snow. denver public schools are closed and hundreds of flights have been cancelled. severe thunderstorms are threatening parts of texas, louisiana and oklahoma. the head of the susan g. komen for the cure foundation is defending her decision to cut funding to planned parenthood even as top komen officials are resigning in protest. this as criticism mounts against the cancer charity and supporters rally around the reproductive health organization. the latest supporter is new york city mayor michael bloomberg. he's pledging to donate $250,000 to planned parenthood out of his own pocket to make up for the funding lost in the cuts. bloomberg said politics have no place in health care.

republican presidential candidate mitt romney is boasting a high profile endorsement headed into the nevada caucuses. he won the backing thursday of tea party favorite donald trump. meantime newt gingrich touring a las vegas plant said poor americans need a trampoline so they can spring up. that was a jab at romney who said this week the very poor have a safety net. romney now says he misspoke. what better way to beat the winter blues than maybe with a new hair style? a 50-year-old man in taiwan had hello kitty cheered into his head to cheer up his winter weary dad. he says the next time he'll consider a different character, perhaps spongebob. now i see it. four minutes past the hour. now out to al in indianapolis with a check of the weather. you never have to worry about that, al. >> not me.

had over 600 donations in two days? >> yep. we did. 665 women came and volunteered to give a piece of their breast over the course of two days. over a year's worth. >> what will you use those tissue donations? >> that tissue will be used by researchers all over the world who requested as comparison to breast cancer tissue. the purpose is to unlock the keys of why does normal go abnormal. >> is it painful to donate? >> no, it is not. i've done it. there is plenty of numbing medicine used and really people have to take almost no pain medicine at all. >> why is it so important to get minority donors to step up? >> there are a couple of reasons. first of all, normal isn't normal unless we are representing our population.
