greek yogurt. possibly the best yogurt in the world. ♪ ♪ ♪ this is "the voice" ♪ daly: welcome back to the blind auditions. the thing that separates "the voice" from all the others is that we begin with the highest level of talent. jermaine: i was a background vocalist for alicia keys and i've been able to open up for her all around the world. i have a special message. hey, jermaine. it's alicia keys. i am so excited for you. it's your time to shine. we're rooting for you, baby. i just got done working with green day on their "american idiot" show on broadway. daly: whether they're touring with grammy-winning artists or gracing the broadway stage, the singers we've invited are already a cut above the rest. our next artist, chris mann, is ready to put his years of training to the test. i started studying classical music when i was 15. and then i decided to make a life out of it. i moved to nashville, tennessee, to major in opera at vanderbilt university. i would love to win "the voice" for my mom.

last year, mom had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. it was terrifying. that's the same cancer that took steve jobs' life. and i tried to pack it up to go home, but she would not hear it. it was almost like she's at home fighting for her health and for her life, and she wanted me to stay and fight for my dream. chris' mom: the last year has been rough. chris has been understandably very upset, but chris has an amazingly beautiful singing voice, and it's an amazing opportunity. and as a parent, we want all of those things to happen for our children. [ sighs ] i know that i have to sing like i've never sung before. and the song i'm singing is not easy, and i've definitely thought about that. but this is what i've been waiting for. i just hope i can grab onto that opportunity.

[ cheers and applause ] i think throughout my entire career i've pretty much spoken as being an individual. and you know what? something that really spoke to me was when you said, you know, "i try to shrink myself down "to fit into, you know a stereotype or a box or something like that." and sometimes there are voices that come along that you can't shrink down, and you have to just let it shine and let that voice just go. and tonight, you did that. [ cheers and applause ] so, it's between you, huh? me and cee lo. what would you like to do with what i do? i mean, that's -- everything. it seems like there's nothing that you can't do. uprecreational center to pray for those victims and honor their memory. loved ones gathered with balloons in hands to celebrate the lives of three friends who died in this tragic accident on route 50. >> i thought it would be nice to tie a letter and send it to our friend in his balloon. >> whitney walker was drive ago longside route 50 with zachary and brianna. police said they died when the car slammed head on to terry davis who was driving on the right side of the road. the medical examiner said both drivers were under the influence. a week later loved ones are still comforting each other. >> still remembering all of the good times with zack and marie and brittney. >> very sad. it is educational. like i told my children it's not worning getting in a car and drinking.

tomorrow morning in the stevens trial. he's on trial for the 2006 killings of corruptions officer david mcginn at the house in jessup. prosecutors say he stabbed another inmate 12 times because he did things exactly by the book. >> the robo calls trial from 2010 is scheduled to continue tomorrow. a former assistant to bob ehrlich is accused of making calls to o'malley supporters telling them to stay home and relax, o'malley already won the election. they already tried his aide in the case and he was found guilty. >> hours from now we're expecting people to begin in the murder trial against george hughley. hughley is accused of killing lamarry love of cockslyville. she was killed in may 2010. tonight, a look at what we might expect. >> night mayish end to stand-out

lacrosse player 22-year-old yeardley loves life happened on may 3rd of 2010 when a roommate found her face down in a pool of blood in their off-campus apartment near university of virginia. police arrested her 24-year-old ex-boyfriend and men's lacrosse player george hughley and charged him with murder. now with hughley's trial just a few days away, university officials are warning students and staff of the emotional toll the case could present to the university and its community. in an e-mail to students and staff, u.b.a. president terry sullivan said in part, details emanating from the courtroom may create or compound emotional distress for our students faculty and staff and demonstrating support for one another will become especially important unquote. university officials have also confirmed more than 150 reporters have registered to cover the trial and law professors offered crash courses on criminal law so students will have an easier time

understanding the trial. friday afternoon hughley's defense team was able to get a last-minute hearing to present two motions. the first asking for a gag order so all people involved in the case will not be able to comment to the media until the trial was completed. this was granted and judge went one step further saying no pictures or video can be taken of hughley until the jury was seated. the second motion concerned showing 15 graphic photos to the potential jury pool. this was denied so those pictures can be shown. as far as that poem jury is concerned, more than 160 notices went out on february 1 but that doesn't necessarily mean they will be questioned for the hughley trial. defense attorneys are hoping for a jury of 12 with 3 alternates. jury selection is expected to begin monday morning and will extend most likely into tuesday. however, lawyers from both sides say they hope to have jury selection wrapped up by monday and trial actually beginning with opening arguments on

today on nbc's "moat the press," newt gingrich brushed off the loss in nevada he and said he will win as many delegates as possible. ron paul thinks will he have more luck in upcoming caucus states and after finishing last in nevada, rick santorum said the race is a long way frbing over. >> we have three states coming up on tuesday. i think with will show this race is moving again in a very different direction. >> candidates will battle it out in colorado, minnesota and missouri on tuesday. >> and officials in washington state say a father whose wife vanished blew up his house today with himself and two young sons inside. josh powell, who's been a prime suspect in his wife's disappearance and had been denieded customer of his sons two days before. this morning child services worker brought the two days for powell's house for a supervised visit. blocked a worker from going inside and powell's exploded.
