case. as far as what types of people both sides are looking for, he said the defense is looking for an open mind. >> what you want is to say i think i have set -- heard some things about the case. i will restrict my decision to what i hear and see here in the courtroom. >> the commonwealth even though most of the publicity surrounding the case is in its favor, there are still challenges. >> the challenge for the prosecution is if they want to get jurors who are sensitive to those issues, but not so committed that there excludable. -- they are excludable. >> 13 of 27 potential jurors have been chosen from that. each side will get to strike six. we will have a jury of 12 with three alternates. because this is taking so long we were supposed to go to 90 and got to about 45. it looks like the court will be extended until 8:00 p.m. this evening and the judge will pick up things again tomorrow

guilty. our reporter barry simms and joins us with the details. >> investigators believe that she said of the murder to hide another crime. the former dental assistant made a horrible choice and is now seeing the impact of that choice. just before a judge in anne arundel county circuit court found her guilty of murder, chante hickman said she could not change would happen. she accepted a plea agreement that gave her a life prison sentence. >> she did that with the expectation that the sentence would allow her one day to return to her family. it was a sad case for all. >> she wept and her voice quivered as she apologize to the family of the doctor. the dentist was her boss. he became a victim. he was killed at his glen burnie office in september 2006.

iwas convicted. the call suggested that the election was over before the polls had closed. he argued that shawn -- charges are unconstitutional and the case against him should be thrown out. >> what is the nature of your defense? >> we basically state -- the state made a mistake in bringing this case and we will prove it. >> hanson will be back in court tomorrow. the top aide has been convicted on similar charges and will be sentenced next week. >> the joint legislative ethics committee is considering action against state senator ulysses currie. he failed to disclose that he was a paid consultant for national grocers while performing his duties as an elected official. david collins is following the case and joins us live with more. >> senator kerry met with that committee behind closed doors

disclosure forms. the committee is considering sanctions. this could be anything from a reprimand to censure or even expulsion. the joint committee is made up of six delegates and six senators. the chairman is senator curry's seat mate. the senate will vote but when that will happen is not known at this time. >> baltimore county police are investigating a sexual assault of a 16-year-old. investigators say the victim was walking near north bend drive. that is when we are told to man pulled her into a car and attacked her. >> one has a light complexion and short dark hair. >> anyone with information is urged to call baltimore -- baltimore county police.

>> ocean city may be saying shh. "the dail times" reports the council is scheduled to vote on a ordinance that will inhibit sound devices from being heard beyond 30 feet. it would forbid storefront staff members from directing sound toward the beach. the boardwalk in streets if the ordinance passes. offenders would be subject to a citation and possible rest. black and decker announced it will be laying off close to 100 employees. the company is closing its baltimore protection netcenter. the layoffs will begin in april. 79 jobs will be lost. >> as lawmakers consider raising the gas tax prices are beginning to creep up. you probably know that by now. gas prices in the baltimore metro area are 41 cents higher than they were this time last year.

rob roblin has the details. >> if it feels like and looks like gas prices are going up almost every day you're right. last week alone prices in the baltimore, maryland area went up on average what -- 5 cents. >> it is nothing i can do. i have to go to work and get my kids. what can i do? but pay. >> usually gas prices are low. not this year. >> of the average gas price is up 45 cents. a year ago it was trading $3 a gallon. now we're at $3.52. it has gone up a nickel from a week ago. >> a few pennies here and a few pennies there. the price continues to rise. consumers feel stuck. >> it is a shame what is going on. what you going to do? >> it never stops. >> what do you think?

snow. an inch on wednesday. a cold front on tuesday night brings rain and snow showers. a 20% chance on the lower eastern shore. it will be because of a friend through canada. here is the system that brings a patch of clouds tonight. this front comes through tomorrow night and held low pressure tracks along the front and brings the risk of snow. it may be enough smell, probably not at sunrise but shortly after that. light snow develops and rain south of baltimore. the mixture could produce a light accumulation in the cold and northern suburbs. the potential is up to an inch on the pennsylvania line. maybe an inch or so of snow. 53 tomorrow with sunny skies. 40's on thursday.
