against a new federal policy that forces every health plans to cover contraceptives for employees. it requires catholic institutions like universities and hospitals to pay for medications that go against the faith. there is one exception. >> under federal law, a roman catholic organization whose primary purpose is religious worship, like a church, parish, archdiocese, and majority of its employees are roman catholic, are exempt. >> cardinal-doesn't it and when o'brien does not believe it goes far enough. he issued a sharply worded letter to every parish. >> our catholic institutions that serve this nation well are being told, you who find these things offensive, you should pay for them. in fact, you must pay for them. >> o'brien says the archdiocese will drop cohealth care

same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. it upheld the ruling made by a federal judge in august 2010. proposition 8 supporters vowed to appeal either to a larger panel or directly to the u.s. supreme court. opening statements are under way in the trial of a former uva lacrosse player accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, a cockeysville native yeardley love. this is video of george huguely and heading into court this morning, charged with first- degree murder in the may 2010 death of the 22-year-old. lowell melser is in charlottesville and will have the latest on today's court proceedings, 11 news at 5:00 and 6:00. a noted presidential historian admits to conspiring to steal thousands of priceless documents from the maryland historical society and other institutions. barry landau and his assistant were arrested last july. they were accused of trying to smuggle more than 60 documents

out of the historical society, including a plan to grant signed by abraham lincoln. in his plea, landau admitted to stealing from several other museums across the east coast and selling items for tens of thousands of dollars. he could face 10 years in prison. a disturbing case in harford county as sheriff's deputies investigate a case of anyone found dead inside a dumpster. we are told that -- a newborn found dead inside a dumpster. we're told that this stillborn had been dropped inside a plastic bag inside a dumpster at sablewood road. the woman claims to have given birth outside the residence of the relative, who lives in the town of bel-air. an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. the momentum has shifted once again. rick santorum had a huge night in the republican race for the white house, winning colorado, minnesota, and missouri.

the squatters also had a pet pig. an elementary school teacher's aide is accused of the videotaping himself sexually abusing students. police arrested the aide for distributing child pornography when they found the videos. the videos included two take advantage classroom, another of the man -- taken in a classroom, another of them and spanking a naked child. classes are closed and the staff of the los angeles elementary school is removed over sexual abuse allegations. a teacher was arrested over allegations he performed other acts on the students. another teacher was arrested on

nothing is happening yet. once you get to the north, just north of the city, we're beginning to see some sprinkles develop there. once you get to the colder air around carroll county, they are getting some snow showers around the westminster are. and points west and northwest. that is going to be moving to the east. temperatures are warm enough where it might start out as a sprinkle or rain shower, but the minute that starts to cool the atmosphere down, you expand the area where snow was falling. it looks like in parts of baltimore county, too, will start extends southeastward. in the next half hour, it will be starting towards baltimore area. i was just outside, and at the moment it is just cloudy on tv hill. let's look at the temperatures we have for you. 39 at the airport. mostly in the 40's to our south. rain indicator.

nothing has started up there yen. westminster, frederick, all in the 30's. that is the cooling effect of the moisture it from the clouds. snow can make it all like to the ground. the bumpiest clouds are generating as snow. you are getting involved in this weather system. to our south, warmer air. you can see the areas where rain would fall based on temperatures alone. this would be a self-limiting storm hit we have it for about five, six, seven hours, and then it moves out of the picture. our forecast for this afternoon is a mixture of snow and rain, depending on your location and the temperature. snow for baltimore north toward grain starts mixing in, and we have right to our south. higher accumulation will be off to the northwest.
