the take down happen near the capitol grounds friday afternoon. agents arrested 29-year-old hkhalifi. they say he was carrying a vest with an air explosives and a gun that did not work. he had been living and a washington suburb illegally for years. federal investigators have been investigating him for about a year and he was under 24-hour surveillance the past few weeks. the officials say that he changed his targets several times, but ultimately settled on the capitol building. fbi agents also raided homes and at arlington and alexandria, virginia. they say there could be more arrests. no word on what charges he is facing. and maryland congress will men. the congressman was recently named a ranking member of the intelligence committee.

we caught up with him to get his take on the arrest of the possible terrorist operation. >> this is an individual that we call a lone wolf. we have not seen any contact yet with al qaeda or an extremist group. these individuals hate america. they did not like what we stand for and they're willing to give their lives for their cause. when you are a lone wolf, it is difficult to find out who they are and what they are. >> as sally kidd mentioned, he made a brief appearance in federal court in alexandria, and the judge set a bail hearing in the case before wednesday at 2:00 p.m. maryland delegates have just begun to convene for a final voting session on same-sex marriage. the meeting was scheduled for this afternoon at the state house, and that is where sheldon is. what is the latest? >> the vote could come at any moment.

process. the vote is expected at any moment. this is the final vote on the maryland same-sex marriage. meanwhile, new jersey governor chris christie has vowed to veto a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in his state. the bill was sent to christie's last night after was approved by a 42-32 vote. they want the issue decided by a public vote. it was breaking news on an 11 news at noon, the state senate voted unanimously to censure senator ulysses currie for his role and an ethics scandal involving grocery store chain at shoppers food warehouse. the vote was 42-0. the panel determined he used his position on a powerful committee for his own private gain. currie was acquitted last year of all charges in a federal bribery case.

11 news reporter david collins will have a live report on that coming up at 6:00. another day of defense testimony was cut short in the murder trial against george huguely. he is accused of killing yeardley love. one of huguely's attorneys was out sick today and not able to question key medical witnesses. lowell melser has the latest. >> good evening. this is almost becoming a nun heard of situation, another day of delay the testimony as the co-counsel for george huguely was sick yet again. she was supposed to interview two medical witnesses, so the co-council to govern and interviewed what was supposed to be their last witnesses, including george huguely's aunt who said the relationship between yeardley love and huguely was actually stable.

what the defense attorney out a second day with what her co- council friend called a violently ill sickness, warrants went at it alone, calling what were supposed to be the defense last witnesses. first to testify, both seniors in high school when it came to visit uva a week before a glove was found dead. they testified they were in huguely's apartment when yeardley love came and and and asked if these were the girls he was texting with. a computer specialist also testified saying that in his opinion, after using ebay, love's computer was only worth about $150 a fair market value. in virginia, is a felony to steal anything over $200, and a felony and commission of a murder is first-degree murder. i asked to testify was huguely's aunt. she testified that she visited huguely twice, once and 2009, and again in 2010.

she said that love was very kind and always sweet to her four children. a surveillance video wish show of her and her four kids, love and huguely having dinner at a restaurant. in the video, she described how love hugged her kids, was nice to them, and towards the end of the video we see 11 huguely holding hands. the media did not get to see this. this was less than 24 hours after glove was found dead. -- this was less than 24 hours before yeardley love was found dead. the defense has to more medical witnesses, and, and what actually has five rebuttal witnesses they could use, but did not have to use the mall. then the jury will be read instructions, the case will go to the jury, and then a verdict. whether that all happens tomorrow remains to be seen. where we may have some of it tomorrow and then the rest later next week. we will update any new information at 6:00.

it is an airborne disease that can cause coughing, chest pain, and fever, and you cannot catch by sharing a drink or shaking hands. at the university is working with the department of health on containment. the flu has been mild this season, but it is peak season for the norovirus. it has hit several places round country hard. the minnesota health department believes that the norovirus kept more than 200 students at home one day from school. george washington university was also recently hit hard. the norovirus causes over 21 million illnesses in the u.s. every year, and 800 people die from it. the best way to prevent the spread of norovirus is good old- fashioned hygiene, and washing with soap and water. if you get sick, hydrate and put yourself out of commission even after you feel better for a day.

rumors of a weekend storm, still a couple of days away. it is scheduled to get here midday sunday, going into sunday night. a lot of tweaking in the forecast, adjustments to be made in the next 48 hours. as i mentioned before, there is no hint of winter weather on the way. another mile day, the high temperatures reaching into the low 50's. 48 cockeysville, 49 edgewood, chestertown on the eastern shore, the temperatures in the upper 40's, low 50's. salisbury, ocean city, 52. it is chilly air in the mountains. almost 40 degrees and frostburg. the shenandoah national park, 40's and 50's on skyline drive, charlottesville. it looks like this area of virginia will be hit hardest. we are watching closely to see how much colder air will get into those locations over the next 48 hours. it will be chilly tonight.

clear skies, light wind. the sunset this evening at 5:45, just a few minutes away. the storm is developing in the upper levels of the atmosphere, over northern mexico. it is pumping moisture through much of texas, arkansas, tennessee, light showers. heavier rain on the texas gulf coast. this is the moisture soars, again. now we need cold air to combine with that. all of this purple and blue, james bay, port hudson bay, that is cold air starting to move south. the upper bubble jet stream is streaking towards the land. looks like it will be drawn that cold air south. saturday, saturday night, the cold air arrives, the butcher coming up from the gulf coast. -- the moisture is coming up from the gulf coast, especially right here on the west virginia- virginia line.

of michigan. the really cold air of winter is still locked in canada, much further to the north. clearing skies across the region today after patchy fog last night and early this morning, a lot of sunshine boosted temperatures above normal. annapolis.ltimore to upper 40's north and west of town, above freezing and garrett county and allegany counties, western maryland. it will be chilly tonight because of the clear sky and a light wind. the temperature will drop into the 20's in the suburbs. as the high pressure makes its way through, sunshine to start the weekend. the clouds developed as we get the storm to the south organizing in moving our way. cold air in the eastern united states, but international falls 26, further north colder. looks like the upper level jet stream pattern will draw the cold from hudson bay south into the mid-atlantic beginning saturday night.

tomorrow, fairly quiet and tame, but the storm organizes to the south. it is quite chilly up here, subzero, single digits into parts of ontario, to the great lakes. that cold move south, the moisture it moves north. wherever these collide in the mid-atlantic, that is where the potential is for significant snowfall. right now, the target zone for the heaviest snow is the west virginia-virginia border. during the day saturday, clouds increase. looks like as we get the precipitation will be in the afternoon on sunday, snow flurries towards lunchtime, more snow toward sunset. the heavier snow down on the virginia-west virginia border, with rain toward richmond and norfolk and southern maryland. the storm system moves through quickly, off the outer banks, out to sea. we'll get a few hours of the snow, tapering off before dawn monday morning. during the day monday it will clear. still the potential this storm
