stories, the case goes to the jury in the george huguely murder trial. we are tracking a storm that could bring snow to the area. good evening, everyone. both sides in the murder trial of george huguely have made their cases. >> after a quick defense witness and closing arguments which took most of the afternoon, a jury must now decide whether george huguely killed yeardley love on purpose, unintentionally, or not at all. before his fate was put into the hands of the jury, the defense called a surgeon who said in his opinion, yeardley love's brain

did not have injuries consistent with blood force trauma. the defense rested. the commonwealth did not offer any rebuttal. the commonwealth's attorney began retelling the story that love was found dead. she made the decision to stay in her room while george huguely made the decision to go see her while he was drunk. they reminded the jury about the saidl that george huguely's that he should have killed her. the only possible explanation for her death was blunt force trauma. he said, the evidence clearly shows that glove was murdered during the commission of a robbery. -- that love was murdered during the commission of a robbery.

the defense attorney reiterated that george huguely was in the apartment but there was no intent to kill. the jury will reconvene at they will have 37 different charges to go over including the most serious, first and second degree murder, as well as voluntary and involuntary manslaughter. >> the jury will not begin deliberating until wednesday because monday is a holiday and grand jurors are meeting at the courthouse on tuesday. we have more on the next phase of the trial. >> when the jury reconvenes, they will have a lot to think about. the amount of time it takes them to come to their final decision will be telling. the jurors will analyze whether or not george huguely intended

to cause harm to yeardley love when he went to our apartment. the amount of time it takes them to come to their conclusion could be indicative of the verdict. >> if they take a long time, you could have second-degree murder. a long your verdict would be leading towards manslaughter. >> a manslaughter conviction would carry a maximum 10 year penalty. second year, a 40 year maximum. >> the defense is hoping for a manslaughter conviction for, he has already been in jail for two years. that means he would serve another four years. >> the jurors could lean towards the manslaughter verdict if they believe that george huguely did not intend to harm yeardley love. if they do think that he intended to harm her, they could come back with a first or second-degree murder charge. >> they will have to decide what
