we have some cloud cover out there but that will be clearing up. 35 degrees at the airport. the further we go into the morning, the clearer the skies will become. mostly sunny this afternoon. temperatures not bad. 48. it could be on the breezy side. it will get even warmer as we get to the middle portion of the week. stay with us. >> civil rights groups plan to protest tonight's meeting of the anne arundel county council after accounts and used a racial slur during the meeting. he used a derogatory term referring to the soldiers he fought in the vietnam war. the council is made up of white men. maryland is falling behind in its ability to make payments

owed to victims of crime. only $2.6 million backlog in payments. about 1000 claims were approved totaling $5.2 million. the state is working to correct this problem. >> maryland is one step closer to legalizing same-sex marriage. the house of delegates passed the legislation on friday. but this is not a done deal. kim dacey is live with more details on the story. >> the bill is expected to head to the senate this week for debate. supporters are confident it will pass there like it did last year. under the bill, married same- sex couples would have the same protection under the law as their heterosexual counterparts. getting the bill passed in the house where it died last year is a big hurdle for advocates of same-sex marriage, but they know the fight is not over yet.

saturday morning. white is being held on first- degree murder. a bail hearing is scheduled for tuesday. >> a firefighter is recovering. the unidentified firefighter was injured three hole in the floor that opened up while he was trying to put out a blaze on east 24 straight. eet. the blaze damaged the home next door. both sides have rested their case in the murder trial of george huguely, accused of killing your beloved. it will be another two days before the jury begins deliberations. court is adjourned for the present state holiday. there will be grand jury proceedings on tuesday. jurors will have to decide if huguely went to her apartment

it is believed the side of the mountain became unstable. eight other people have been accounted for. two pilots have been taken to hospital after a small plane clipped a helicopter over the air in california. this was 7:00 p.m. on sunday near oakland and sacramento. the faa is investigating. family and friends said a final farewell to whitney houston on sunday. she was laid to rest next to her father in a new jersey cemetery . >> gas prices continue to rise. average retail gasoline prices in baltimore have risen 1.2

the stock market. a new study out says forget about those political platforms and even the economy and job creation. their study says the best single predictor of the presidential re-election results is the percentage change in the stock market in the three years preceding election day. they studied every presidential campaign going all the way back to george washington in 1792. that may mean that president obama will win re-election because right now the dow jones is up 60% from the march, 2009, low. tomorrow, investors will be watching the latest on greece and reports on home sales. are you sure you know where your car is? presidents' day is a holiday that thieves target. almost 2,000 cars reported stolen on president's day last year. almost as many as on christmas eve.

we spoke to in chinatown are not taking kindly to a comment and a headline made by espn. it was after the new york knicks ended a winning streak by losing to the hornets. espn publicist a line that said, "chink in the armor." espn said the remarks were offensive and said we get apologize, especially to mr. lin. his, since our great pride to the asian american community -- his accomplishments are a great pride. >> you would not say the n- words, so why should chinese be excluded? >> it is inappropriate, it is.

police continued to look for a suspect in a deadly stabbing downtown. the victim was found 3:00 on sunday afternoon at west lombard and south calhoun st.. he did not survive. no word a lot of prompted the attack. a firefighter is recovering after being injured battling a fire. the unidentified firefighter was injured falling through a hole in the floor that opened up while he was trying to put out a blaze. the blaze was finally brought under control but not before idem as the home next door. the injured firefighter is doing ok this morning. both sides have rested their case in the murder trial of george huguely. he's accused of killing yeardley love. the jury will begin deliberations on wednesday.
