dozens of religious leaders gathered in annapolis to call for repeal of [inaudible] religious representatives all gathered on lawyers mall. they presented the assembly with a letter signed by more than 200 clergy members urging action by the legislature to end capital punishment maryland. >> the idea behind the death penalty is wreaking kill our way out of a cultural wash and violence. when the state sponsors killing, it loses the moral voice to said that others do not kill. we can kill, but you cannot. that is not the way of a peaceful, just society. the issue is a timely one right now. a jury in annapolis is deciding whether prison inmate should be put to death for the 2008 murder of a corrections officer. >> maryland's attorney general
