afternoon. >> it will be a tough call with temperatures today. the key is clouds and sun and which way the wind is coming from. this is the latest radar and satellite imagery. if you look carefully, most of maryland is covered with clouds right now and we have east wind that is holding the temperature down in the 40's and 50's and once you cross the potomac the temperatures have jumped into the 70's. there is some rain out in the mountains so it will be a race to see it weaken shake these clouds and turn the wind around and whether we get rain or not. this map shows there is a moderate risk for some severe weather to our south and southwest. it is a confusing day and we will try to straighten it out coming up with the forecasted and managed. >> maryland makes history as the

they pleaded guilty to directing crash victims to majestic for receiving cash. they could receive 25 years in prison and 17 officers have been arrested in the extortion scheme and 15 have pleaded guilty. >♪ baltimore city's controversial bottle tax is getting a show of support from city school students. the baltimore education coalition toward one of the oldest high schools in the city and i hope the tour will bring attention to the worn down conditions that many of the city schools. the city's bottle tax will help pay for the much-needed repairs. >> it is not fair that the best schools are meant for main offices. i believe all classrooms should be equal, the same temperature and a comfortable area for students to learn in. >> school officials say it would

take more than $2 billion to repair the dozens of schools needed. and that was busted for impersonating a police officer. they stopped the man for speeding on january 19 very officers say he was driving a crown victoria and was dressed rifle virginia state trooper uniforms. investigators say they found other uniforms, weapons, and drugs at his home and police are asking many victims to come forward. >> as of today, we do not have any information that indicates that he has conducted illegal traffic stops or other illegal activity as a police impersonator. however, because of the extent of the paraphernalia and police equipment key has, we are concerned that he may have done that. >> he was charged with police impersonation back into thousand eight and 10 years before that, officers from uniforms, guns, and a makeshift firing range and

his baltimore city home. president obama's letter of apology for the burning of copies of the koran at a u.s. airbase in afghanistan has not done much. at least 17 people have been killed today alone. >> despite increased security trout afghanistan, protest is still going on and including here in the capital. hundreds of afghans are making their way here. the security is telling us to leave because it is not save. afghans took to the streets for a fourth day of protests primarily after friday prayers. friday is the holiest day of the week in the moslem world. afghan security forces were out in full force throughout the country anticipating more violence. in the capital, we saw protesters who were trying to attack western compounds. it was the afghan army that held them back.

so we are in a squeeze play. will the temperatures go up? it sounds like a soap opera. look at the difference in temperature is. 40's where you see the blew up to baltimore and return to green, in the 50's and 60's and 60's and 70's down to the south. you can see where the warm temperatures have ganged up against us and here is a cool front in west virginia. in the baltimore area, we have east winds coming off the atlantic ocean which helps bring in temperatures from northern new jersey but it has kept cloudiness out of the area and the temperatures down. the sun breaks through washington and annapolis the south and here are the storms to the west. there is the warm front to our south. it is having a hard time getting number and here is the cold

front coming through this afternoon. there is not a big opportunity for us to warm up. we could see some strong thunderstorm activity and the strongest is in the carolinas and georgia and that may take the steam out of the storm's we have in this area. our forecast is windy and kind of cold war to the south and showers and storms in the forecast, a 63-70 but we're only in the 40's now. it would make it to 63, i think we will be lucky. winds will be gusting past 30 miles per hour and high wind warnings will be in carroll and frederick county that starts at 3:00. we will have a wind advisory in our area around 3:00 and gail warnings on the bay. a four-foot shot of the open water. there's even a tornado watch in effect for south west virginia and parts of west virginia into the western carolinas. here is the cold front to the

west of us. everything goes through by 8:00 this evening and the last of the raid should be leaving the eastern shore and we drive out. saturday afternoon, we may see a few clouds popup that maybe even a snow flurries because it will be quite a bit colder over the weekend. we expect to warm up a little bit today. a lot of the area will be in the 60's and maybe thunderstorms or a snow flurries tomorrow and 43 degrees. 47 degrees on sunday -- on sunday with sunny skies and in the 40's all next week with rain chances monday and wednesday. ♪ >> a new study says the bird flu may be less deadly than originally thought for the virus which travels from a paltry two people killed more than half of those infected. researchers at mount sinai school of medicine say those figures only include the most severe cases.

new numbers show just 1.2% of those with mild cases of bird flew died between 1997-2009. health experts are recommending all adults be vaccinated against whooping cough. an advisory panel of the cdc voted wednesday to expand its recommendations to include people 65 and older who have never been vaccinated as an adult.
