his plea security to -- police security to escort him. he had the officers wait for him while he had sex with another employee. >> i am confident when they hear both sides of the story, our side will prevail. >> he said he had only briefly read the charges when we interviewed him. >> are these allegations false? >> i believe when all of the facts are known, we will prevail. the proper and the only forum for discussing these issues is in court. >> he is also accused of using police officers as political workers during his reelection campaign by requiring them to check on his campaign signs at various locations while on duty. at least three occasions where he had an officer stopped the

opponents of the death penalty brought in a nationally known opponent of the death penalty to help lobby. you might know her work. she wrote a book which later inspired the famous movie, "dead man walking." david collins is following that debate in annapolis. >> sister helen is an opponent of the death penalty. it is her life. she began a prison ministry in new orleans. she became an advisor to a death row inmate. and a witness to six executions. she wrote a best seller and the movie is based on that. susan sarandon plays the role in the film. >> it is about a wave hitting the shore. the way to social change comes in this country. it is happening around the death penalty. we see it diminishing.

>> legislation to repeal the death penalty and provide a maximum sentence of life in prison is in limbo. the bill includes a provision to transfer money to strengthen services provided to families of murder victims. >> the death penalty does not help a victim. it is a false promise. >> a senate committee is keeping the bill from moving forward. three republicans opposed repealing capital punishment. >> the legislation has 66 co- sponsors but so far a house committee has not scheduled a hearing. >> we hope to continue to build momentum to and the death penalty. >> they plan to circumvent the process. when the house sends the bill over, she plans to petition it. supporters are hoping for divine intervention.

crescive vigil tonight for someone killed in afghanistan last week after soldiers mistakenly burned copies of the colleran -- koran. >> he made us better. he showed us the right ways of what we should do. >> the hero overseas and at home. that vigil was held at the elementary school where he was a gym teacher. he leaves behind a wife and four children. he was 48 years old. family and friends are honoring the life of a young boy by giving back.

brian palmer died of natural causes in his sleep in 2004. his family raises money where he would have attended school. the fund was held at the columbus gardens. his mother says helping out makes things easier. >> as young as he was, he touched a lot of lives. he continues with it. we get to touch more lives. >> the family also donates to local sports. it is a done deal. st. agnes hospital has purchased the high school. almost two years after it announced it would close the school pure the hospital has plans for the 32 acre site. >> the old high school building had been partially boarded up since it was forced to close.

tonight, don't be surprised if you see some lightning. we do not expect any severe weather we have been talking about. some heavy rain may cause some minor flooding around the region. from baltimore, not a whole lot happening. another batch of moderate to heavy rain across frederick county. let's take a look at the weather. this is what is going on tonight. number one, cold there is dragging down across the northern plains. it is snowing in chicago. you have the warmer out of the gulf of mexico. that creates the severe weather we have been discussing. this high pressure in new england is suppressing everything to the south. temperatures are stuck in the 40's tonight. the atmosphere does not have enough energy to create severe weather at home. south of here is still possible. this system has enough energy to create tornadoes and -- even

into the overnight hours. you can still see a strong line of thunderstorms into alabama. there is about five or six warnings and this line of storms. this will continue all night into early tomorrow morning. the toll will continue, that which we have been talking about for damage and fatalities. a flood watches and a fact. the crowd was saturated from a couple of days yesterday. if we get a soaking rain, there could be some minor flooding. warnings are in effect. check out the temperatures. we are in the 40's. i do not think they will move for the rest of the night. 46 at the airport. the forecast for tonight, showers, maybe a thunderstorm. the temperature is holding steady, in the 40's. tomorrow, maybe a thunderstorm.
