because she did not come home, and that is not like her. >> she went roller skating with some friends last night but never came home. her family reported her missing, but her brother founder under some trash bags. >> they walked the alleys and stuff. they had been walking the alleys all night and all day trying to find her. >> that is crazy. that is the last thing, finding a kid in some trash. >> she does have some signs of trauma, but we are not sure what she was killed from. that will determine tomorrow at the autopsy. >> her mother was visibly upset as she made her way back to the crime scene. she was visibly upset. >> she was a good kid. she went to the school right here. we never had any problems. she was just a really good kid. >> it saddens my heart. it does.

i pray for the whole neighborhood anyway all of the time. >> whoever did it, they have got to live with it for the rest of their lives. their conscience. >> now, homicide detectives are investigating, and the autopsy is scheduled for sometime tomorrow. we are live at police headquarters in downtown baltimore, wbal tv 11 news. >> and breaking news at 11:00. take a look at the picture on your screen. the sheriff's office tells us this three-year-old girl was left behind at a chuck e. cheese tonight. her name is harmony. they need your help to find her guardians. harmony tells officials that she has a sister. if you know anything, called the sheriff's office. now, to our other top story, the cleanup effort after those deadly tornadoes that swept across 12 states, killing more than 30 people.

entire towns are simply gone. jay gray is in indiana tonight with the latest. >> there is an eerie silence that hangs over the emptiness. the quiet that comes with nightfall after a day filled with the sounds of survival. the morning of chain saws. so many sifting through the rubble by hand. >> people from everywhere coming to help. >> searching for anything that may be left of lives shattered by the storm. >> it will get much better faster if everybody does a little bit. >> for more than three dozen families, it cannot get better. their loved ones are not coming back, the grief that now includes a toddler who was found fighting for her life in this field. her mother, debt, and two brothers already dead. today, she also passed away after being pulled from life- support.

we are concerned in the early part of the week. we are giving a hint that we could see a flurry overnight. some of this activity has been persistent over pennsylvania. it edges closer to us. around hagerstown, they are getting some flurries. and there is also something coming at us out of the mississippi valley that we will show you later in our main weather cast that includes maybe somebody getting some rain or snow tomorrow. we will talk about it all, coming up with the insta-weather plus almost winter like forecast in a few minutes. >> all right, john, the maryland women's basketball team won the tournament today and the automatic bid to the tournament. pete gilbert joins us. >> they say it is tough to beat a team three times inning single season, and that just made it all that much sweeter for the

terrapins. maryland held off georgia tech and a last-second effort to tie the game, winning its record 10th acc championship, 68-65. the m.v.p.. now, two weeks to get ready for the n.c.a.a. tournament. there will be a one or two seats coming up for march madness. plus, a look at a couple of other teams still fighting for their chance to dance. >> we are just two days now from super tuesday, the biggest days so far in the republican presidential campaign. mitt romney is coming off of his victory yesterday in the washington caucuses. we have our 2012 report. the u.s. is considering all options to make sure that iran does not have a nuclear weapon, and he says that using force he hopes is not necessary but that it is not out of the question. >> i do not have a policy of containment. i have a policy to prevent iran from having a nuclear weapon. >> iran insists its program is for peaceful purposes. we are keeping an eye on the dangerous situation in syria. the red cross continues to try to get into help people killed by the military, but the government will not let them in. a report from beirut. >> for the third straight day, and international red cross has not been able to enter a district, in particular area they want to get to as being described as one of the most hard-hit areas in the seven weeks during the crackdowns in the province. they were able to distribute some of the aid and that they brought with them to those who

>> right now, baltimore city police are investigating a

deadly shooting in northeast baltimore. police say 42-year-old man was shot multiple times and is just after getting into a fight at the nearby 7-eleven. so far, no arrests have been made. it is a huge turnout for a fund- raiser, many of showing up to honor the memory of wbal's ron smith. they gathered for dinner and a celebration. his wife announced the pancreatic research fund at john hopkins has raised over $58,000. they say they will use the money to raise awareness of the deadly stages of the disease, and they are grateful. >> it was a great turnout. we had folks, and open up their pocketbooks. we are really appreciative of the support of our efforts. >> team reason says they look forward to more fund-raise hours that they have planned in the future. cardinal o'brien celebrated a

special mass here at home, to show his gratitude to baltimore. the mass was at the cathedral of mary arcola in baltimore. he thanked others for their support during his tenure as archbishop, and he also defended the sanctity of marriage and the rights of catholics to live out the moral convictions of their faith. people said they were grateful for the work that carnal o'brien has done. >> i am so proud of him, for what he had done for the catholic community in baltimore. he has done a great job. >> a successor to replace carnal o'brien as archbishop has not yet been announced. it has been nearly one year now since the devastating earthquake and tsunami in japan. today, they held a memorial service to remember the victims. the earthquake caused a massive tsunami, wiping out a local elementary school in one town. 70 students and nine teachers

died, five still accounted for. the education board has taken responsibility and apologizes for not realizing the danger that the christmas -- that the tsunami could have caused. >> now, your insta-weather forecast with meteorologist john collins. >> a mix of sun and clouds, and this mix has been continuing. earlier today, some of those clouds tried to produce some flurries. most of them evaporated. there were some reports up near the pennsylvania line. we do see some snow showers. we may pick up a flurry overnight tonight. there is a cool front. it is sagging to the south and washing out, but there is enough air that is helping to stir things up. that is not the end to this story. some very light stuff. let's take a look first at what happened during the day today. the typical high is 50. 48 at the airport. 50 downtown. the morning lows were 40 and 44,

although it is colder than that right now, down to 36 at the airport and 39 downtown. 36 in salisbury. right at the present one in frederick and in the 20's in western maryland right now. is a little bit of activity off to our northwest. some of this could produce some flurries, nothing major. we have not seen many of these this winter. most of them missed us. this one has got some snow shower activity in it, and the trajectory is to move to the southeast and east. most of it will pass to the south of us. this will be one of those situations where we will be on the north edge of this clipper. here we see the mix of rain and snow as it moves into the ohio river valley out of illinois, and again, it will track just to our south. the question is, how far south. there is more out to the west that we will have to deal with,

as well, but let's just concentrate on what is going to happen this month. mostly cloudy skies, may be a free or two. west winds at 10 m.p.h.. here we track the weather system. there are some clouds just south of down on our futurecast. here is the bulk of snow to the south of us and right up to the baltimore area. we could see some snow or some rain mixed in with and, just briefly touching the area and then moving on. the farther north you go, the less of a chance to see some snow. but there could even be some accumulation out there, so clouds and sun, a shower or rain shower in the forecast. we are not expecting any kind of accumulation of any significance out of this. the wind about 10 to 15. the high temperature, and again, the statewide forecast calls for the bulk of this note or the mix

to be to the south of us. to the west, they have a chance, too, with highs in the 40 parts to be as. the most significant accumulations will be in virginia and west virginia, where they could see two to 3 inches of snow. a small craft advisory on the bay. the 7-day forecast, that activity to the south of us. light is what we're going to college for the baltimore viewing area. 45 on tuesday. look at this, wednesday, thursday, almost on friday. temperatures up near 60. >> all right, thank you. kudos to the maryland women, for sure. >> a baltimore native out of st. francis academy, his specialci

impressive upset. they knocked off the topsy boston. but michelle dominated with 25 points. they face albany on the road next saturday for the american east crown and a trip to the tournament. as for the guys, comcast center filled up one more time as they hoped to play spoiler and to say goodbye to an four-day warrior. mosby in joining a genuine moment on senior day. the st. francis graduate had it going pretty well. a nice drive, right to the heart of the virginia defense, and later in the first, the fans, he passed it. and this is. he feeds mostly, knocks down three. 17 points, 41-40, virginia. in the second half, virginia pulling away. two of the 20. they have a lead.
