six-apartment home saturday morning. upon arrival, fire crews saw there may be others inside the dwelling. they went into the building looking for those residents a firefighter made a distress call. >> he got disoriented a little bit, called for help. >> firefighters raced into the structure and safely removed their colleague. soon after, the fire was declared under control. the fire started in the basement. ms. lee -- many residents are happy they made it out alive, but are sorry they lost their home. >> there are some people that may have lost everything. >> everyone, including that firefighter, made it out unharmed.

>> new tonight, someone is in serious condition and five others injured after an accident. it happened just before 5:00 this week -- tonight. a car was making a left turn and was hit by an suv and not into the path of an oncoming car. all six people were treated at area hospitals. a violent start to the weekend. police are investigating four separate shootings in a 6 hour. -- six-hour period. officers found a 25-jessup -- 25-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. he was rushed to sign night where he died. meantime, a 23-year-old man is recovering after a shooting in northwest baltimore. the victim was approached by two suspects who try to rob him on

boarman avenue. the victim was shot twice. so far police have made no arrests in any of the shootings. we are learning more about the american soldier suspected in the massive project massacre that took the loss of 16 afghani civilians. robert bayless said in his own cell in fort leavenworth, kansas. neighbors recalled him a good father, but say he was guarded when talking about his deployments to iraq. his family has been moved to a base in washington state for their protection. >> they are suffering a lot. they are confused a lot. more than anything, everyone is concerned. >> bales attorney questions allegations he was drinking the night of the shooting and suggest his client may be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. mitt romney stuff -- stopped in

puerto rico. peter alexander has tonight's 2012 update. quite the people cannot vote in america's general election, but they will have a say in selecting the republican nominee. last night, mitt romney was at a rally. it was a lot more of a carnival. along with the speakers, almost all of them speaking in spanish -- there was music, dancing, energy, and passion. mitt romney told the people they respect them and cared for them as americans. his rival, rick santorum, also called -- caused a firestorm of controversy early in the week. he said if puerto rico wants to become the 51st state in america, it is necessary that english become the primary language. that upsets some of his supporters as well as some of the voters.
