lieutenant colonel add -- at aberdeen proving ground has been accused of sliss i9 -- shrillitying sex from minors. sheldon has the story. >> two girls, ages 13 and 16, were allegedly offered money for sex. this afternoon that military officer is free on bell. the 41-year-old lieutenant kernel was charged with misdemeanor counts of annoying a child, which is apparently a charge unique to california. they said the events happened last month. police were able to track down his rental car, which led to a photo lineup where one of the victims identified him. he was arrested in virginia and brought back to california to face felony charges. >> this is the first time i've experienced this.

how the along west garrison avenue in west baltimore. police tell us that reports if the scene indicate an adult male was driving the vehicle and apparently lost control. right now there is no word on his condition or whether anybody else was inside the vehicle. a high-speed chase in montgomery county ends in flames. the police say the car had been reported stolen and officers tried to pull it over along connecticut avenue in chevy chase but the driver sped off, triggering a pursuit shortly after 1:00 this morning. . car struck a tree and burst into flames. two passengers were killed but two were rescued. another unseasonably warm day across the region. the record 82 set in 190 much. so far at the airport we've

aberdeen hotel will cost about $other -- 50,000 to repair the damage. firefighters were called to the holiday inn along beards hill road this morning and found several rooms flooded because of a broken sprinkler system. a guest was apparently contacted by a web site called prank.com and told there was a gas leak in the hotel, then she was tricked into using a toilet cover to break off the sprinkler heads. all right, you're driving down the road and all of a sudden the back of an armored truck opens up in front of you and money sparts pouring out? an armored truck driver apparent limb lost cash and coins this morning and bit time comras got to the the scene

baltimore basilica caused by the earthquake that hit maryland last august. repairs will cost $3 million to $5 million and the repair job will begin in june. >> the good news for the archdiocese is they do have earthquake insurance. >> the cornerstone for the basilica was laid in 1806, making it the oldest catholic cathedral in the united states. it was last august when sections of maryland were shaken by a 5.28 magnitude earthquake. for most of us, it was just a ground trembling, but for the basilica, that trembling caused damage. >> you can see the major cracks there. these have gotten progressively worse. >> there are over 50 cracks. here you can see where the moulding has pulled away from the wall. >> and you can see where the dirt and other things came through because everything shifted.

months. plans are for the bat i willica to remain open while the work is done. here's a look at other top stories tonight. a lieutenant colonel stations in the u.s. army at the aberdeen proving ground has been accused of problem sigsing two teenage girls for sex while he was working in sacramento. police there say jason shepard approached a 13-year-old and 16-year-old girl asking for sex. officers caught up with him in virginia and arrested him. he's now out on bail. protests and outcry continue over the shooting death of 17-year-old trayvon martin. the teen was killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer in florida last month. demonstrations continue in dallas, miami, even the steps of the u.s. capitol. today president obama spoke publicly about the teen's death, calling it a tragedy and

30's and tuesday's high just 58. in tonight's consumer alert, cell phone carrier h-mobile plans to reduce some 1,900 jobs in efforts to reduce costs and remain competitive. the fourth largest cell provider is rapidly losing customers and is investing millions to try to catch up with rivals' technology. workers whose jobs are eliminated whether have a chance to transfer to the remaining call centers but those who choose not to transfer will be offered trancion packages. the new ipad has only been out for a little over a week. it's setting new sales records but has got a couple of problems. some include the battery life

this probably isn't much of a surprise for most people but it looks like we live in one of the tastiest towns south of the meriweatheron dixon line. readers were asked to weigh in on cities with amazing hometown flavor. baltimore restaurants are credited with preserving some of the area's heirloom dishes like soft shell crabs. this year's winner of the tastiest town of the south is lafayette, louisiana. known for bacon, biscuits and fried boudin. not sure if i'm saying that right. and an open casting call is set for tomorrow morning at stevenson's university's in scape university. they are looking for men and women to fill extra roles.
