j.f.x. traffic is building over towards the west side. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> the health care of millions of americans could be on the line as the u.s. supreme court hears oral arguments. >> emily schmidt joins us live outside the supreme court with more on this case. good morning. >> this is such a big deal. people have been lined up since friday. the justices set aside six hours for those arguments over the next three days. at issue is how much say the government should have in your health care. it took 22 pens for president obama to sign his historic patient-protection and affordable care act into law. now nine supreme court justices will decide if the president's

signature policy will stand. >> we're feeling very optimistic that the court's going to uphold the law. >> the white house says the law is already beginning to help an estimated 30 million uninsured people get coverage. but 26 states and private parties have joined in the effort to overturn parts of the law or strike it down altogether. >> it is a big deal for two reasons. one is the act is important. it affects about 18% of the economy. it's important also because it involves important questions of constitutional law. the limits of the congress' authority to regulate commerce. >> one controversial part of the law is mandated coverage, requiring most people to have health insurance or pay a fine. >> the only thing that i see climbing higher is our deficit. >> the topic has always been emotional. remember the crowds at congressional town hall meetings before the bill passed? it's also political. all four republican presidential candidates have vowed to repeal it. >> obamacare is the number one issue in this race. >> president obama now says little publicly about the plan,

and lawmakers still debate its merit. >> we knew what we were doing when we passed this bill. it is ironclad constitutionally. >> this health care law is an absolute mess. a mess. and the american people do not want it. >> you will not be able to watch it live. lucky to get ae ticket. we're expecting a ticket by june . >> what would be the fallout? >> they could decide to uphold the law. the justices could decide to repeal the law. they would have to go back to square one. or the court could decide to have a bit of a mixed bag,

holding some parts and repealing others. political ramifications will continue to play out in this election year. >> jury selection is expected to begin in the retrial of twin brothers accused of setting a pit bull on trial. they are accused of burning the dog back in 2009. a woman struck by a car back in december has died of her injuries. had been hospitalized ever since she was struck by a car on december 23. she's died on saturday morning. so far no charges have been filed. >> a sense of outrage is building over the death of

trayvon martin. was shot and killed in sanford, florida -- he was shot and killed in sanford, florida. people are wearing hoodies and carrying skittles. sure >> john zimmerman suffered a broken nose -- george zimmerman severed a broken nose. >> george zimmerman has been in hiding since the shooting. the justice department has launched an investigation into the case. people in baltimore will be holding a march and rally tonight. kim dacey has more details. >> the march will end here at civil hall.

people here are mourning for the teenager and wishing for justice. the congregations in baltimore wore hoodies in solidarity with trayvon. preparations got under way in other parts of the city. almost 200 signs for demonstrators to carry on the march. circumstances are reminiscent in baltimore. like the alleged beating of a black teenager in 2010. [no audio] the march will start at 5:00 p.m. at mckeldin square and on here to city hall where the rally and vigil will be held around 7:00 tonight. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news.

>> the beating death of an iraqi woman in california. this happened last wednesday. she died last night. a family friend said a note was found calling her a terrorist. the family found a similar note outside the home but they did not report it. >> police say rodrick burden's mother discovered him with a gunshot wound to the head on a west fayette street. he was taken to shock trauma where he died. the shooting on sunday in front of a liquor store. the victim suffered non-life- threatening injuries. the suspect is still at large.

you can see if you hints of the sunshine trying to make it over the horizon. hardly a cloud in the sky. the storm system is moving offshore. some leftover clouds in ocean city and in the delmarva. we have clear skies in baltimore and down towards d.c. a cold front is on the way. that will change up the temperatures. it is causing the win to increase. high pressure is trying to build and over the great lakes. the pressure changes drastically over a short period of time. that is what causes those winds to strengthen. that makes the temperature feel colder. we have high pressure building in. a new storm system will move in and we will see temperatures rise and a chance for rain.

black teenager back in 2010. >> we will not say no to racism and no to racial profiling. that is the major issue. we have local issues that we're tying in. the question of racial profiling in baltimore city. >> the march will start at 5:00 tonight and will move over to police headquarters and wind up at city hall for a rally and vigil at 7:00 p.m. tonight. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> a man shot in north baltimore on tuesday has died. he died from his injuries over the weekend. he was shot in the head multiple times on tuesday on east 21st treat. no word as to a suspect or a possible motive. police are looking for whoever attacked and stabbed a man and a catonsville gas station on edmondson avenue. police say the victim was attacked while standing at the

pump. >> a fire does about half a million dollars worth of damage and injures a firefighter. the blaze broke out in millersville just before noon on sunday. three people were inside the home but they got out safely. a firefighter received some minor burns and was transported to the burn unit for treatment. the cause of the blaze is still under investigation. most people cannot help but when it happens but many people when bald on sunday in the name of charity. this was the fourth annual baltimore heroes. they shared their stories of survival with event goers. >> it is hard for me to look get sick kids. i have met so many kids along

>> welcome back to 11 news today. police looking for a man who got into a fight with police officers in woodlawn. man was seen smoking a marijuana cigarettes. took a swing at the officer. officer allegedly drew his gun. the gun fired during the pursuit. jury selection is scheduled to begin today in the trial of brothers accused of setting a pit bull on fire. this was back in 2009. the judge in the case must rule on certain evidence the defense wants excluded. dolores in a deadly shooting over the weekend. rodrick burden's mother discovered him with a gunshot
