polls show a significant public opposition, saying that if the court does not overturn the law, they will. tracie potts, wbal-tv 11 news. >> in "commitment at 2012," maryland will be back in the campaign spotlight when another republican presidential candidate makes a visit. ron paul will hold a meeting at the university of maryland, college park today. jury selection is expected to begin in the retrial of twin brothers accused of setting fire to eight pit bull in 2009. travers and tremayne johnson are charged with animal cruelty. prosecutors say they have evidence linking the brothers to the crime. the first trial resulted in a hung jury. police make an arrest in a

school fight caught on tape. donnell vannison faces charges for attacking the student. the video shows him being knocked out with one punch. officials say the student was acting in self-defense and will not face charges. police say a man is breaking into homes in the middle of the night when people are at home. most of the burglaries happen at 5100 block of joppa road bridge the man went through dressers in search of jewelry and clubs and at one case made off with a purse containing prescription drugs. police do not know if he is armed, but they are concerned that things could escalate. >> most burglaries take place during the day when people are not at home. what is unusual about these burglaries is that they have taken place incite people's

been a beautiful day, but things will change as we go into the afternoon. this is pumping mild air into the mid-atlantic region. 70's this afternoon. cold air in the great lakes. where the two bump into each other, that is where we will see a shower activity. the threat of a severe weather it will extend into central maryland this afternoon. the primaries that -- the primary threat is large hail and wind gusts. we have a line of thunderstorms along that front. they are racing down along a central pennsylvania. the individual cells are moving from the west to east. the whole line is sinking down at about 20 miles per hour. sometime during the middle to late afternoon hours before we see something not bank baltimore. -- around baltimore.

a few thunderstorm warnings in effect with the storms in southern pennsylvania s. so far, no severe thunderstorm watch in maryland. mid-to-late afternoon and evening hours could be bumpy around central maryland and south baltimore this evening. current temperatures are in the 60's. we should make it into the low- to-mid-70's this afternoon. pollen count down from yesterday, still in the high range but not as bad as it was. mold went up. breezy, mild, a chance for showers and thunderstorms. some of those could be strong. high temperatures between 71 and 76. overnight, partly cloudy skies, a chance for evening thunderstorms, temperatures drop back into the 40's.

tomorrow, which could wind up -- we should wind up with a quiet weather on thursday and friday. thickening clouds on a friday, should state dry during the day. next chance for rain will come friday night and saturday for the start of the weekend. temperatures in the 50's on saturday. it should end early on sunday. for the most part, sunday will be ok. low 60's on monday. >> with the warmer than usual weather, but people are anxious to get to spring a gardening, but big plants can turn into a big waste of money. >> there is a reason why you see mostly pansies at the store and no tomato plants. >> stuff you don't plant until summertime. am i wasting mi
