information on it. it appears to be some kind of controlled burns. ouret's take a look at doppler radar. even though we have mostly clear skies over baltimore, as you move south, you start picking up more clouds and eventually some showers and sprinkling could be in virginia. significant rain in the form of scattered showers are in southern west virginia. you can see by the movement of radar that that is not in the trajectory headed for baltimore. the forecast is a good one. i will give you the details coming up in a few minutes. >> another honor for u.s.

senator barbara mikulski. she was honored at the archives for space telescopes in baltimore. the institute serves as the science operations center for the hubble space telescope. the archive is one of the largest in the world, housing thousands of images gathered in space. she was presented with a photo called supernova mikulski. 5 northeastern states are up next in the republican primary race. rick santorum's home state of pennsylvania is shaping up to be the biggest battleground. the washington bureau reporter has more in the election 2012 report. >> rick santorum is undeterred. his sights are set on the

radar. south, more cloudiness. some showers will go through parts of virginia. we saw in our picture-perfect that they have more cloudiness there. it looks like the high pressure that is giving us the good weather will be to the south of us today. let's take a look at the temperatures. with all of the sun, you would think we would be warming up. it is only 54 degrees at annapolis. kitty to at westminster. out west, temperatures -- 52 at westminster. there are sprinkles and showers.

high pressure in canada and the great lakes. it is pushing down and pressing this weather system. this is a cool front. it is kind of stalled out. we will have some cold to the south as it moves across the area. a little more humidity is down in the southeastern part of the u.s. here, you see the cool air coming down into pennsylvania. let's get the color coding from our is too green to blue. -- look at the color coding from orange to green to blue. northwest winds at 5-10 miles per hour.

tonight, temperatures drop out. our temperatures will be down around 40. there is a freeze warning in the northwest for number baltimore county and frederick county and points west. that will be in effect early tomorrow morning, around sunrise. the insta-weather futurecast shows all of this weather to the south of us. keep us dry all weekend. maybe a sprinkle south of us. there should be lots of sunshine. after sunday and monday, rain chances start to go up. >> dr. kim is excited for opening day. >> i love opening day.
