for this day, it is a very special. a few minutes ago, i had a chance to catch up with matt wieters. we check in with the very large orioles catcher. here we are for opening day. you have had a few at camden yards. what are your favorite memories? >> the crowd, the excitement, the game you are waiting for for six months. >> everyone is kind of down on this team this year, a lot of it because of the division you are playing go. you guys were very good. why could and that translated this year? >> we are not worried about last year. we will take all year, and that is how you win games.

right now. rob roblin is outside the stadium. how was the atmosphere there? >> i am in front of pickles, and you can see how many people are here. this place is jammed packed for opening day. people have been here since early this morning. they are enjoying something to drink, something to eat, all part of opening day. with me are two fine young ma. -- young men. how many opening days for you guys? >> i have been here since 2001. >> what you like the most? >> crowding with my family in the bullpen. >> what about you? >> family in the bullpen. >> thanks, guys. enjoy the ball game. you can see the fans here, and

they will be here until game time, and after the game starts, a lotill still be here, having a party. it is all part of opening day. rob roblin, wbal-tv 11 news. >> of course, the game will tie up roads downtown a bit. parking restrictions are in place on streets around camden yards, including camden, conaway, eutaw and greene streets. public transportation mate year best bet today. it was a chilly morning around the state. sunny afternoon so far, though. john collins is standing by with what you can expect. >> right now, downtown, the temperature is 54 degrees. humidity is way down. winds around and big area have been 10 to 15 miles per hour, even a little stronger than that at times.

no word on possible charges. another big story this noon, the job market. the unemployment rate is down, and tara mergener has the numbers. >> 120,000 new jobs were added in march, half of what was expected. the unemployment rate has fallen to 8.2%, but not because there are more jobs out there, but because more people have given up looking for work. in this economy, job hunters say that patience is th. -- is key. >> it will be a slow turnaround, but we are in there for the long haul. >> companies have increased hiring recently. still, more than 23 million people remain either out of work or underemployed. >> we have to keep in mind that because of the ever-expanding

population, we have to add around 100,000 jobs every month just to hold steady. >> americans are feeling more confident. >> i am very optimistic. >> demands for goods and services is also said to be up. most people are citing the economy as the number-one concern. >> our economy is turning the corner but we still have a long way to go. >> his recovery, if you will, has been tepid. >> those out of work are hoping that the economy is finally heating up. >> we are making steady progress. >> most economists expect annual growth to be 2.5%. it has to hit 4% to lower the unemployment rate by one point.

soldiers were inside the center. the cockeysville man as out on bail after throwing a device on paper mill road. he threw it in that object out of his car, which exploded into a fireball. police were able to follow his footprints and found him at home. he is charged with assault and reckless endangerment. the won me megamillions and where is the ticket? at a news conference on thursday, officials said that no one has come forward to claim the prize. mirlande wilson of baltimore says she has the ticket but has not presented it to lottery officials. an official is concerned that it could discourage the actual winner from coming forward. >> if someone who actually has

the winning ticket believes the ticket has been claimed, they may dispose of the winning ticket. >> we received an update from the nbc station in d.c., saying they spoke to wilson, and she says she had the ticket but lost it. on thursday, jurors saw more photographs and videos including a surveillance video of a dog on fire. the judge decided testimony will resume on monday after the easter holiday because the trial is moving so slowly. new details after a deadly shooting in glen burnie. it happened at the 1500 block of furnace avenue thursday afternoon. officers found a 53-year-old shot dead inside his home. but they are not sure how he is connected to the man they are questioning right now. the lack of answers has residents in the point pleasant area on edge.
