moment. the team here with me has worked tirelessly come out looking for answers in his death. i want to introduce to you one of my top, said prosecutors, and john guy, my other top prosecutor who will lead this investigation. with us also is jen madden, dominic pate, john rutherford. we appreciate so much all of their cooperation in this. i especially want to thank my state attorney investigators who have spent countless hours doing what they do best, investigating homicides. allow me to take a moment to acknowledge our governor, rick scott, and the u.s. attorney,

bobby o'neill, for their continuing support of this investigation. we spoke with all of them briefly and informed them of the results of our investigation and plan as we continue. i can tell you we did not come to this decision likely -- it lightly. this case is like a lot of the difficult circumstances we have handled four years. let me emphasize we do not prosecute by public pressure or by petition. we prosecute based on the facts of any given case, as well as a loss of the state of florida. when they appointed us to this case less than three weeks ago, these find that prosecutors, despite all that is on their plate already, handling all of the homicides in the fourth judicial district, supervising other young lawyers who also handled homicides, the willingly took this case on and said we

will lead this effort to seek justice. we launched an intensive investigation, building on all of the work that stanford police department and the state attorney's office had already done. unless you have ever been a law enforcement officer or prosecutor handling it difficult homicide case, you cannot know what it is like to launch this type of investigation and come to the right conclusion. the supreme court has to find our role on numerous occasions that we are not only of ministers of justice, but seekers of the truth. we stay true to that mission. we prosecute on facts and laws of the great sovereign state of florida, and that is the way it will be in this case. when we took our oath of office in 2009, we pledge not only to look out for precious victims of all of our cases, but also to a year to the rules of the

criminal justice system, and rules that protect a defendant's rights as well. when we charge a person with a crime, we are equally committed to justice on their behalf as we are on our victims behalf. we're here to do that on behalf of our victim, and on behalf of the person responsible for his death. we will continue to seek the truth throughout this case. every single day our prosecutors across this great country handle difficult cases and adhere to that same standard, and never- ending search for the truth and quest to always do the right thing for the right reason. there is a reason cases are tried in the court of law, not in the court of the public. details have to come out in excruciating and minute fashion. detail by detail, it of evidence

by bit of evidence. it is only then that jury gets the details of the decision can be rendered. we will adhere to our ethical obligations and rules of evidence in presenting this case that way. today we filed an information charging toward a zimmerman with murder in the second degree. with the filing of that information and it issuance, he will have our right to appear in front of the magistrate in seminal county within 24 hours of his arrest and formal prosecution will begin. we think all of the people across the country to have sent positive energy and curse our way. -- who have sent positive energy and prayers our way. i want to thank mr. park to a state in touch. >> that was the special prosecutor from jacksonville,
