of the night off. it took a jury less than two hours today to reach a verdict in the trial against travers and jermaine johnson, the twin brothers accused of setting a pit bull on fire. >> the jury came back with a not guilty verdict late this afternoon. this was the second trial in the case. it -- the first one ended in a hung jury in january of la year. one juror said the case simply there was not enough evidence to convict or connect the brothers to the case. travers and jermaine johnson walked out of the courthouse to cheers from family members. >> they lied. they just wanted to effect them. they cost the tax people money. >> the twins were accused of setting a pit bull on fire. prosecutors argue that surveillance video taken from a

police camera shows the 17-year- olds running from the crime scene after phoenix was set on fire. there were two witnesses claimed that they spotted the teenagers and one of the brothers was arrested in the same shirt seen in the video. one of the 12 jurors said the lack of evidence connecting the johnsons to the crime may it difficult to convict. >> it is what it is. you go by what you see. you cannot go by what someone says. in the court of law, it is what you can prove. >> it initiated the creation of the anti-animal abuse commission that focuses on getting cases of animal abuse prosecuted in the city of baltimore. advocates say they are disappointed in the verdict but believe the case has brought more attention to the abuse of animals. >> people are reporting cases. the police department is investigating and the attorney's office is prosecuting. we have seen a change since the case started, despite the acquittal. >> there have been so many of

users that have been held accountable for their crimes. we are grateful for that. >> baltimore state's attorney issued a statement after the verdict is saying that he respected the jury's decision but he was disappointed in the outcome. >> thank you. now to several big developments in the shooting death of trayvon martin. first, murder charges have been filed against george zimmerman. this is a look at his mug shot taken a short time ago and florida. now trayvon martin's family is reacting and it looks like this case is far from over. j. gray has tonight's other big story. >> after more than a month of speculation about where he might be, tonight we know that george zimmerman is here behind bars. >> george zimmerman arrived here approximately 20 4:00 p.m.. he is being booked and being processed now. >> 44 days after he shot and killed a 17-year-old trayvon

martin, a special prosecutor has ended her investigation and is now preparing for the trial. today we charged georges airmen with murder and the second degree. >> a decision trayvon martin'ss family and thousands of supporters across the country have been demanding since his death. >> we simply wanted an arrest. we wanted nothing more, nothing less. we wanted an arrest and we got it. and i say thank you. >> after the announcement, zimmerman was moved from jacksonville to the jail in sanford where his attorney will meet with him. >> mr. zimmerman needs a good and focused defense. so we will build him one. >> a defense that will likely enter its first plead during a hearing tomorrow. >> weekly tech guilty presently. that keeps the prosecution moving forward. >> martin's family is still trying to figure out what is going on as well.

east baltimore. police say it happened at 7:30 near east chase street. the mam is expected to survive. no word on a suspect. a dundalk church and nearly destroyed in a three alarm fire. it may have been set on purpose. we are live at the scene. how is the pastor reacting to the news? >> it is pretty amazing. the pastor is cool and collected throughout all this which is impressive considering the extent of damage at the church. police say the arsonist's set fire to the shed, causing $500,000 worth of damage. despite all this, the pastor says he is not taking it personally. he does not know who burned his church down but he has a strong message for whoever did it. >> the only thing i said to him

school bathroom during a snowstorm will serve 20 years. sean thomas shclea was sentenced this morning. he walked into the middle school during the storm in 2010, forced a 12-year-old boy into the bathroom and shoved a sock down his throat. he will serve five years' probation when he gets out of prison. police arrested a man for picking up a woman in a cab and telling her he was a police officer and sexually assaulting her. 21-year-old michael f. consent picked up the 44-year-old woman in an on licensed cab last week. he drove to a dark area near lincoln park and attacked her there. the woman was able to get away. atkinson faces a sex offense charges and is charged with impersonating a police officer. are arrested for selling pot of an ice cream truck. happened to a 20-year-old waldorf man, alexander hopkins. the sheriff's office said they got a tip about his inside
