watches from up here. so does a scout for chicago. they remember when it was a little more of the -- well, whatever. it's clear that the flyers are annoyed at neal for a hit on giroux and that's what triggered a lot of the rest. >> mike: carried over from the hit on couturier as well, doc. >> mike: yep. >> mike: there's a whole lot of venom from this crowd right now and they're exacting it on the penguins. >> mike: getting things organized again, referee st. laurent. >> pierre: they don't want james neal in the box. they don't think he did
6:01 pm
anything. >> deryk engelland, ten-minute misconduct. fore-check, two minutes for roughing. penalties come at 15:18. >> mike: well, here we are with similar monlmonds and neal. >> pierre: now he has to go across the ice. hartnell is there. crosby's barking off to hartnell. there's no need to do this with neal. this is why i think the official are huge, big time. >> mike: a little more fighting room.
6:02 pm
>> pierre: look out. he's pulling his hair. he just pulled his air. the hair pull is going to get adams. they stepped in when they saw that. there's a lot of hair to pull, but that's why the linesmen jumped in. i got to tell you, doc, this all could have been avoided, all could have been avoided if james neal was just sent to the room. they knew this was going to happen. >> mike: it all seems academic. still a little under five minutes of playing time to go.
6:03 pm
if i talk enough, you can't hear the chans. here is simmonds going down the lane. so it's right in front of you, pierre, where the hair was pulled. >> pierre: and you see it right now. he's telling both referees that the hair was pulled. both linesmen saw it. you'll see craig adams coming straight in. that's where the hair is pulled. a hand full of it and the linesmen jump in when they see that.
6:04 pm
>> mike: this is where that began. crosby moved over. >> mike: they were going after neal. that's why crosby jumped in there. but again, it defies logic. you know neal is a lightning rod. neal should have been sent right to the room. he says, they were pulling my hair. >> mike: what they are looking at is the video involving malkin.
6:05 pm
a dozen of the players are at the bench. engelland has left. several flyers at the bench as well. and somewhere in western canada, ed is looking on and saying i seem to remember this sort of thing. >> pierre: he says do you remember where the face-off is? calling scott driscoll. the faceoff is in their zone. he's saying i think i remember.
6:06 pm
coburn will pick up the yard sale that happened right in front of the penguins bench. >> mike: some of you may have joined right now expecting you remember a little late for the local news. those in the newsroom knew, oh, somewhere in the first period when all of this started that they wouldn't be getting on on time and so got a little extra time to ed it tape or have lunch. but that's what's coming next. offensive zone face-off for the flyers. >> pierre: this is ridiculous.
6:07 pm
>> number 27, craig adams, two minutes. >> mike: given the balance of power, the instigation on the part of adams was understandable. as pierre mentioned after the misconduct to nealable as well as the clock has ticked down to the last four minutes and change here. 33 shots for the flyers, 30 for the penguins, 70 in total. around jaromir jagr. jagr drops it around.

6:10 pm
talbot with two, read with two, briere with two. three guys with two apiece, read one of them on the ice. voracek and coburn get the assist on the 12th game of the afternoon and the eighth for the flyers. >> pierre: looks like he went after tyler kennedy. he did. just got kicked out. right up here. they're trying to control the game.
6:11 pm
>> mike: benches were a lot longer than they were at the old spectrum. and you notice how few guys are on them. 2:22 to go and the penguins on a power play. crosby is out there along with malkin. sullivan will work one point, kunitz across the way, then niskanen. one more guys off the flyers bench and that is schenn. nine penguins left. trickled on. steering it away is johnson. niskanen. hoping for a little more respectability. a double minor involving rinaldo. no scoring the rest of the power play time.
6:12 pm
crosby. went off bryzgalov and wide. perfect setup for malkin. it would not go. it's that kind of day. kunitz delays. bryzgalov is able to hold on. we mentioned detroit and toronto. philadelphia came back from three and defeated boston in 2010. and the islanders defeated the pittsburgh penguins after being down by three in 1975. in the rest of pro sports, only the red sox have done it. >> pierre: mike richards stepping up on david krejci in the neutral zone, krejci broke his wrist.
6:13 pm
>> mike: scrambled and kicked back out. unlike this series, that is a goalie series that is one game apiece. along to kubina. niskanen able to bring it ahead. university of minnesota, duluth, product. staal drops it back. back to niskanen again. he's got paul martin out there with him. a minute left in the game. taken on by staal. gets it back for martin. fired away. martin across, onetime shot deflected off of bryzgalov and hop aid long for matt read. he sailed one, gloved down by niskanen. shot across to staal.
6:14 pm
off the glass and they rule it offside. he and read were both on. because they are very good at penalty killing but also because they have a couple of goals to beat. i don't think max is a very superstitious guy. when he was living in pittsburgh, he lived right near the grounds of a funeral home. >> pierre: but there weren't many ghosts around, at least none that he saw. >> mike: the old sour goat for the pittsburgh penguins here as they are going down 3-0 in this series. 30.6 second from now. out of play. did that hit you up here? >> pierre: it did but only the in the handle. can't swat it up and over. thanks to matt cooke. >> mike: indeed. sullivan shot one. blocked by bryzgalov.
6:15 pm
"you can't beat us" is the chant here. flyers fans are very pleased with how their team has the played. and they get the last word with a final cheer. game four, 3-0, at least one more game on wednesday. 69 shots, 133 minutes in penalties. and a lot of miles. bryzgalov gets congratulations, perfect as the goaltender, three wins in three outings. final score in the game, the flyers, 8, the penguins, 4.
