one town who got no warning of the approaching disaster killed five people including young girls. >> you've got debris. >> reporter: they were the images and sounds so many feared. >> you could hear some people screaming down the road there and yu could hear stuff crashing and breaking. it sounded horrible. >> reporter: tornadoes, nearly a hundred of them tearing across the midwest saturday into sunday. at one time two funnels dropping from the clouds in oklahoma. the violent system blasted through nebraska, iowa. >> everything is gone. >> in wichita, it took only seconds to dismantle a part of this manufacturing plant. >> this was a monster system. >> reporter: it was even worse in woodward, oak. joe and his daughter frantically searched for somewhere to ride out the ef-3 tornado.

>> we crawled underneath there. with debris was hitting our leks and stuff. >> reporter: they were the lucky ones. file people were killed. three in this mobile home park. the loss has overwemed this tight-knit community. adding to the knowledge that the warning sirens were damaged during an early damage saturday and did not sound. >> i thought about that ever since i found out that we lost five people. so i would think it would have helped, yes. >> reporter: it's help the heartland now needs as the clean-up begins. jay gray, nbc news, woodward, oklahoma. president obama back in washington this morning is calling for an investigation into allegations that 11 secret service agents and 5i6sh military personnel hired prostitutes while in colombia for the summit of the americas. nbc's brian mooar has the story

from washington. >> reporter: president obama's summit visit to colombia has been upstaged by allegations of scandalous misconduct by some of the secret service personnel sent there to ensure his safety. >> if it turns out that some of the allegations that have been made in the press are confirmed, then, of course, i'll be angry. we're representing the people of the united states, and when we travel to another country, i expect us to observe the highest standards. >> reporter: the hotel carrabe, sets to be the scene of over the top partying on wednesday included booze and prostitutes. 11 secret service agents and uniformed officers have been relieved of duty. five mill tissue officers are said to be under control. they were not members of the elite presidential protection division.

seriously damaged and nine families have been told to stay away or re-enter at their own risk. one of the boulders weighs ten tons. there's no word on why they came loose from the hillside but experts warn more boulders could come rolling down. finally, this year's crazy weather meant the reopening of a southern california ski resort. check that out. as much as 20 inches of snow fell in the past week giving skiers and snowboarders one more chance for a very late season trip to the slopes, but after today the report says that it really is closing for the year. absolutely amazing. wow. and now for a look at your national and regional weather, here's nbc meteorologist bill karins with the weather channel forecast. you know, you don't even see that much snow in december sometimes in los angeles. >> when you get a storm like this one, this was off the charts. it was a huge tornado outbreak. the storm is still at it up there in minnesota where, believe it or not, it's snowing

in many areas. here's what happened on saturday. kansas, really, and oklahoma were the bulls eye. nebraska and good portions of southern iowa. we'll get confirmation. it will probably end up being around 90 or so. some of these are probably duplicate reports because there were so many storm chasers out there on saturday. yesterday, the storm was still at it. it wasn't quite as potent, be new nebraska, minneapolis, southern minnesota and one tornado in fort smith. so yesterday, ten additional tornados reported. so in total over the weekend, 136. a lot of people ask how come we didn't see more than 105 fatalities. that was bad enough. didn't have any go through metropolitan areas. these were mostly rural, and that's good. today the storm system over the top of wisconsin and iowa, get ready for a summer scorcher with record heat. temperatures in 90 in some

the afghan war. off the coast of california, through crew members were rescued after they were swept off a sailboat during a race near san francisco. one sailor has died and the search has been called off for four missing crew members. >> an original ticket for the voyage sold at auction in new york for more than $56,000. and a dinner menu brought over $31,000. and the space shuttle "discovery" is being prepared for its last flight tomorrow. the retired orbiter is being mounted on a jumbojet to be flown from virginia before being sent to the national air & space museum. the dow opened at 12,849 after dip 1g 36 points friday. the nasdaq tumbled 17. the nasdaq dropped 44. taking a look at overseas trading in tokyo, the nikkei sank 167 points while in hong kong the hang seng was down 90.
