bail. the acura he was driving slammed into a car on sunday night and hit a corporal who was covering a traffic stop. the corporal is being treated for non life-threatening injuries. one baltimore city councilman wants to sell advertising on the side of fire trucks to sip some companies -- to save some fire companies slated for closure. he was inspired by a school bus carrying a paid advertisement on the side. he thinks that the concept could bring money to the fire department. >> it could be very tastefully done and it should raise enough money that we don't have any closures, we don't have companies shutting down or anything. >> if this could help, we are wide open to the idea. >> he says he would rely heavily

on firefighters to guide the decision. he is asking the measure to go to a hearing within the next two weeks. anne arundel county fire crews were busy overnight battling a three-alarm apartment fire in glen burnie. we are told it broke out just before 3:30 at faywood avenue. it appeared to have started at the ground level of an apartment and spread to adjacent department. luckily, no one was hurt. anne arundel county votes no confidence in james teare. the council voted 4-3 monday night, voicing concern over his ability to lead the department in the wake of the indictment of county executive john leopold. the allegations are that leopold used his -- the allegation is that he knew about leopold's miss use of a security detail and he failed to do anything about it.

was a smoother morning commute on the j.f.x. many commuters chose to go alternate routes, leading to less congestion. were no accidents per one lane on northbound and southbound at 29th street will be closed for six weeks due to mnc road -- due to emergency road work. new cameras will go up at perry hall high school and johnnycake elementary school, in addition to new cameras. it brings the number of cameras in the county to 17. >> today feels much different than yesterday. we are currently at 71. we are nowhere near the 90- degree temperature we saw yesterday. we expect orders to get into the mid-70's this afternoon.

another cold front is crossing the area. very easy to pick up at court front. in in western maryland, 60's the metro area. as you go east, it keeps warming up. 81 in salisbury. the cold front is dripping all along the east coast right now. it is pushing the warm air down to the east. the cold front is -- what might trying to say -- causing some of the showers in the western part of the state. it is going to move off shore again. the bulk of the showers are down in the south right now. this is going to be pushing up along a cold front and giving us a better shot of rain. in a lot of people have been

complaining about how dry their yards are. here is what we're looking at. futurecast shows at least chance of at a bit better rain tomorrow. all indications are that it is going to be baltimore down to the south. there is the possibility as we go through wednesday and wednesday afternoon and into wednesday night. then we way into the weekend to get any more much-needed rain. don't be surprised if you see a sprinkle. is more likely to concern as we head west of the metro area. we're down into the 40's in most areas. chance for showers tomorrow. again, not every area is going to see it. temperatures are much cooler tomorrow. 68 by thursday. mostly sunny skies. friday, we get into a new storm system into the weekend. as i mentioned, we could definitely use rain.

>> carrie engel from valley view farms is here to answer your plant and gardening questions. what did you bring? >> these are grown as houseplants but they are grown from a bulb. i especially like the wide variety. it is kind of cool to have. if you spend a lot of time outside at night, it picks up ambien, might and it is kind of cool. -- picks up ambient moonlight and it is kind of cool. make sure it is pretty good size, at least a five-gallon container. i use a 35-, 40-gallon pot. it gives you space for water and everything. plenty of sunshine.

>> how often do you need to water? >> when we get into summer, every day. this time of year, not so much. there are several perennial foods out there. it gives you some phosphorous that will help get them going. they need to be divided. if they are too crowded after a while, it will slow down blooming. you want to give the new chances to spread out. >> are there certain flowers that survive better when temperatures fluctuated a lot? >> there are. there are things like petunias that can go down into the 20s. there are some that will handle the highs and lows. >> there you go.
