mess, shutting it down. we will check in with captain roy taylor with the latest. >> this is southbound i-83 just south of acute 34th street bridge. there was an entrapment at this location. it did not appear that the individuals in the vehicles were seriously hurt, but they were taken to a local hospital. people are turning around, going northbound in the southbound lane while city police clean up the accident scene. hopefully they will be done within the next 10 or 15 minutes. i am captain roy taylor. >> baltimore city police have arrested a second suspect in the videotaped beating of a visitor at the st. patrick's day weekend downtown. >> shayona davis is being held on $750,000 bond. david collins sat in on the bail hearing and joins us now live from the newsroom. >> she stood in court wearing a

pink jumpsuit and answered each of the judge's questions politely and then a loud voice. what is most interesting about the cases that she is charged with armed robbery. she is accused of beating the victim with a high-heeled shoe. a police and prosecutors consider her shoe a weapon. >> 20-year-old shayona davis remains in a -- in jail on $750,000 bond. the court judge considered davis a substantial an extreme risk to the public. she faces four charges, including armed robbery. video that went viral on youtube captured her being a victim with her high-heeled shoe. police and prosecutors declared steven chu a weapon. >> -- declared her high-heeled shoe a weapon. >> court testimony indicates davis has a 1-year-old daughter,

she is unemployed, and lives with her grandmother and two sisters. someone in the crowd announces "let's get his car keys." >> when he walks away, he gets punched in the face and falls back against the sidewalk. police credit a break in the case to public outrage and citizen input. >> we are just relieved that people have stepped forward and given police intelligence that we were able to transform into an arrest warrant. >> according to the arrest warrant, davis goes to a local high school and is expected to graduate in may. the judge ordered that davis had no contact with the victim and ordered a medical evaluation of the defendant. the case is not closed. police are looking for two other suspects. >> we are really asking for public assistance yet again. the case was broken by public

assistance. people saw at regis -- people saw out eight ridges that video was -- people saw how outrageous that video was. >> court records indicate davis has been arrested at least twice before. we'll have more on that 6:00. >> travers johnson, one of the two brothers recently acquitted of animal cruelty charges in the burning of a pitbull, pleaded guilty to an incident back in 2010 in which johnson reportedly fired three shots at a man standing just a couple of feet away. the victim did survive the shooting. travers johnson is expected to receive about 14 months credit for the time he has already served. >> to schoolchildren and their driver being treated at bayview medical center after an afternoon collision with a box truck. skyteam 11 was over the scene around 3:00 on liberty parkway

in dundalk. police said the truck ran through a stop sign, crashing into the school bus from dundalk middle school. there were 15 kids on the bus, but we are told that all the injuries or minor. investigation -- the injuries are minor. >> as many as nine -- as many as 90 firefighters battled the blaze. lisa robinson is live tonight. i understand there are some chemical concerns there. >> still no word on what caused the fire. arson investigators were out here earlier today as well as members of the maryland department of the environment. right now there is still a lot of concern over possible chemicals inside the warehouse. this three-alarm warehouse fire sunday night for residents to evacuate. heavy claims produced a thick smoke and fumes. >> there are a lot of fumes and there was a lot of black smoke.

the wind was blowing out for the water so it was very difficult to see. >> after about two hours, the fire was under control, but firefighters had more to worry about, chemicals inside the warehouse. >> as soon as you see the sign that says plating company, you know you will be dealing with various perot 6, because that is just the nature of that business. -- with various chemicals. >> we do have acids on site. do have some corrosive material also on site. we have an air monitoring parameter set up. all those results have been negative. we are monitoring the water. >> some of my neighbors have newborns, and they were all concerned about if the smoke was

dangerous. we have been assured so far that everything is ok. >> some homeowners worry about fumes, and ask the fire department to come into their houses and run test. >> we were requested into some of the adjacent willie's by homeowners because they smelled a chemical odor -- some of the adjacent dwellings. we have monitored the inside of the dwellings we have been requested to, and all those results are negative also. >> the biggest concern now is the structural integrity of the building create that will then be able to assess the chemicals that remain at the scene. >> right now you are looking at members of the fire department trying to demolish that warehouse building could once they can tear that down, it will be safe for the firefighters to go in there and bring out whatever hazardous material, with their. you do have a hazmat crew standing by and they are putting water on any embers that are down there.

police chief permanently announce his resignation. so vocal before zimmerman arrest, trayvon martins parents have been silent since his bond hearing. >> the family is emotional. this is one of the things where they would rather the killer of their child still be in jail, but they accept a rule of law. >> zimmerman left the jail with a brown paper bag and a tps monitoring system that provides real-time information on where he is. -- a gps monitoring system. >> there is still a lot of emotional depth the realm the case, and we are worried that some of those emotions are still negative, and that may play out against george. >> as zimmerman walks out of jail, but back into hiding out. conditions of his release include that gps monitoring bracelet, he will have a curfew, and will be retired -- required to talk with a

probation officer every three days. >> we have an update tonight in the trial of two brothers accused of beating a black teenager while they were on neighborhood watch right here in baltimore. a judge will hear motions tomorrow in the case of the light and avi werdesheim. -- eli and avi werdesheim. they say they are acting in self-defense when they attacked a 15-year-old while patrolling their orthodox jewish neighborhood. the victim suffered a laceration to his head and a broken rib. we spoke briefly to the brothers off-camera and they say they have no comment but will be at the hearing tomorrow. we may not have seen much of it this winter, but over the past 24 hours, the mountains of western maryland have seen more snow. they are in a geographic position to really get hit hard. 7 feet of heavy wet snow as part

of a nor'easter are possible. you can see at mckinley, snow is being added to trees that have already started blooming, making those branches much heavier than usual. tom tasselmyer, some areas have a winter storm warning in effect until tonight creston arthrex indeed they do. allegheny county, a winter weather advisory. 5-6 inches already, and reports of a foot in the lower highlands of southwest pennsylvania. it all started with that heavy rain maker coming up the coast as a nor'easter. welcome rain up and down the eastern seaboard, but as the cold air wrapped in behind it, the rain has change to snow. that's no falling in western pennsylvania, western maryland -- it that snow falling. it is possible around here you

john leopold. he is now facing -- carl snowden is now facing charges of his own. he was said to have marijuana in his possession. lowell melser has the latest. >> snowden and his passenger, anthony hill, who is a registered sex offender and have snowden's age, have both been charged with possession of marijuana. they were spotted thursday evening allegedly smoking in snowden's car. carl snowden, well known civil rights leader and civil rights head from -- for the maryland attorney general's office, busted with pot in druid hill park, according to police. charging documents say last thursday around 5:00 and evening, two detectives said they noticed a 2010 honda pilot parked inside the park with all for windows down and a strong odor of what they believe was marijuana coming from inside. the two detectives approached the vehicle and said they noticed a brown cigar paper and

green plant material, suspected marijuana, and plain view inside of a cup holder. police say the driver identified himself as 57-year-old carl snowden and his passenger as 28- year-old anthony hill. both were removed from the vehicle and arrested. police said they found additional marijuana in hill's pocket. records indicate hill is a registered sex offender that was convicted in 2002 of a third degree sex crime. court documents also show that in february of 2011, snowden was convicted of dui -- dwi and given a suspended sentence. snowden recently announced he was taking a sabbatical to pursue a lawsuit against anne arundel county executive john leopold. leopold was indicted in march emmerich -- misconduct in office. with the maryland attorney general in chicago, represented

in his office say snowden took a paid leave of absence and referred questions to his attorney. the attorney told us over the phone sunday that snowden would be found not guilty in the case. phone calls monday were not returned. we paid a visit to snowden's annapolis home, but no one answered the door. it is unclear if this arrest will affect snowden's lawsuit against leopold or if his eli charges or sentence in that case, -- it is dui charges will affect that case. lowell melser, wbal-tv 11 news. >> one and five children with epilepsy have seizures that do not stop with medication. this is a real problem, but dealt -- now is, but -- now there is a new treatment that is less risky than traditional

good for anybody to smoke, especially if you are a crone's patient. >> for smokers, quitting could be just as good or almost as taking medicine. quitters have a 55 bridgette -- if you got% lower risk of flareups. >> now, your insta-weather forecast with chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> the storm that moved up the eastern seaboard is spreading over southeastern new york state and we are still feeling the effects of it. a mixed bag of rain and snow still working its way through the mid-atlantic and part of the southeast. showers all the way down to north carolina at this hour. the white in there is this no mixing in, primarily in the higher elevations and starting to taper off at the southern end. if you are heading westbound through the mounds, be on the lookout for wintery conditions. the snow is not sticking to the roads out that way.

the tree branches are heavy with the snow and it causes power outages with broken tree limbs. five or 6 inches of snow reported in garrett county. you can see the snow is still coming down at some of those areas. around here we still see some scattered light rain showers at times may be mixed with a wet snowflakes. the rain did help with the dry ground conditions and lost almost all the pollen out of the atmosphere. no grass are we pollen and the weekend was really low compared to what we have been suffering through the past several weeks. it will likely bounce back but for now the rain has helped out for allergy sufferers. 47 degrees in downtown baltimore right now. the normal high as about 20 degrees higher than that. 44 in manchester, around 50 right on the eastern shore. 51 down at ocean city, but 32

degrees, freezing this afternoon at oakland and garrett county. a winter storm warning continuing until 2:00 a.m. in garrett county. winter weather advisor is in allegheny county. as you drive up into the higher elevations, the rain changes over into snow and we will get a few more inches tonight. tonight some of that snow could stick to the road out there so be very careful for out west. a couple of sprinkles and may be passing snowflake early tonight. partly cloudy toward morning and that will let the temperature dropped into the 30's in the suburbs. the west wins at 10-20 and gusting up to 30 miles an hour. the wind chill was back here in late april. the centered just to the north of new york city. rain and snow shower working their way up into new england and the colder air comes in behind it. look at all that dry weather covering the central part of the nation into the ohio valley down to the gulf coast.

>> some breaking news right now from sanford florida in the trayvon martin case. commissioners there have rejected the resignation of the city police chief who was partially criticized for his handling of the case in a 3-2 vote in the past hour. the resignation was not accepted. we'll have more on the story tonight on 11 news at 6:00. >> we know that by this time tomorrow whether maryland legislators will hold a special session to repair the state budget. governor o'malley is scheduled to meet with the presiding officers there. the meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, considering whether to hold a special session after lawmakers failed to pass the revenue package earlier this year. o'malley says he wants to meet only after the house and senate reach a consensus on the revenue

package, which include income tax increases for people who make more than $100,000 a year. >> covering the nation tonight, the trial of former senator and vice presidential candidate john edwards begins today in north carolina. he's charged with using campaign funds to hide his mistress from the public eye. he faces 30 years in federal prison. prosecutors say two wealthy supporters paid nearly a million dollars to support a woman during his presidential campaign. according to defense attorneys, edward might have committed a sin, but not a crime. >> not even someone as sophisticated as john edwards can ever know that money from third parties to his mistress was a federal came -- federal campaign law violation. >> andrew young, who managed the million dollar cover-up, has claimed he was the father of and was shot for a while, but the

judge disclosed that young improperly contacted other witnesses in the state. >> parents and oneself west virginia town are demanding tight as reports surfaced that a teacher fired a blank gun in the classroom. it happened in abingdon at the vocational school earlier this month. charges were not filed until late last week. the teacher is facing felony charges for brandishing a firearm on school property. he has been removed from the classroom but not fire. it is a realistic looking gun that does not actually shoot bullets. police say they are investigating how and why it happened. >> he displayed the weapon and discharged the weapon in the direction of the students. >> police say between four and 10 shots were fired at the

it is chilies all the way down to the eastern shore. -- chilly all the way down to the eastern shore. westminster,ol in 39, almost freezing in frostburg and right at the freezing point in oakland, where a winter storm warning is in effect. a couple of additional inches of snow tonight, already five or 6 inches on the ground. the roadways might start to pick up some snow in western maryland tonight after sunset. we can see some sprinkles passing by early tonight, and partly cloudy around baltimore. gradually winding down in western maryland overnight towards morning. 35 in the suburbs, 43 downtown, and if you factor in the wind gusting to 40 miles an hour, the wind chill to contend with tonight all because of the storm that has welled up over the northeast to nine. a nor'easter still producing the rain and snow showers, but then dry and warm just west of the
