>> we are at northwood and winston. this is in northeast baltimore. at least four or five shots were fired at this location. baltimore city police are here along with paramedics. paramedics are attending to the victim right now. we do not know the extent of the injuries. city police does have a description of the suspect. more at 11:00 p.m. >> a horrifying scene and a social services office where an eight-month old baby girl was stabbed multiple -- multiple times by her mother in front of a social worker. the mother is now in custody. a lot of questions are being asked about security there. jane is live in east baltimore with the details. >> the good news first, the baby

is expected to survive. she is at the children's center. a full security review is underway. this is a place where children and staff are supposed to be safe. the stabbing happened about 10:00 a.m. this morning inside the city's social services office that handles foster care. >> people were coming out screaming. >> she lives in the neighborhood and says she watched police and paramedics scramble when called to the dss office for an eight-month old baby girl who had been stabbed. >> the police escorted the stretcher. >> this is where biological parents have supervised visits with their children in foster care. >> the baby's mother was visiting with a bead -- bbb and a social worker. the mother became -- with the baby and a social worker.

the mother became irate and took out a knife and began stabbing the baby. >> the baby was taken to johns hopkins children's center and is expected to survive. her mother is in custody. the dss office has metal detectors. a security review is underway. >> you've got to go through the medical -- the metal detector. how did that happen? how did a child gets stabbed when she is supposed to be protected? >> the mother in this case is undergoing psychiatric evaluation. a police squad -- spokesman said criminal charges are pending. >> baltimore city police detective has been suspended over the way he dealt with his investigation into his missing child. daniel nichols and is accused of using his police powers to raid

homes in northeast baltimore in an effort to search for clues. authorities said he became aware of the issue when the people who were targeted started to complain. he has been the lead investigator in the kalisha bonds case. a third suspect has now been arrested in the st. patrick's day beating that was recorded and then posted online pippert -- posted online. police credit a video of the incident posted on you tube for the arrest of the three. there's still one more suspect on the run. police ask anyone with information to please come forward. >> and the trial of two brothers accused of beating a black teenager while they were unable and watching 2010 has yet to begin. there's a lot of discussion about the case because those

involved are concerned that they will not get a fair trial. >> but some late breaking developments in this case, attorneys for the warner shines requested a bench trial and that of a jury trial and ask for a change of venue. the bench trial request was granted. >> every young person in this city who has experienced these types of atrocities taking place every day. >> supporters have been an -- supporters of the 15-year-old african-american victim express their opinion on the courthouse steps tuesday. it is clear that in november of 2010, two jewish brothers beat the victim, breaking his arm. most of tuesday, the court spent

already the presumptive gop nominee for president, republicans are voting in five primaries today. with most of his competitors dropping out of the race, he's expected to win all of the contest. he already has 700 delegates. 1144 are needed to secure the nomination. rick santorum dropped out two weeks ago and newt gingrich has said that he expects to do well in delaware. if he does not, he said he will reassess his campaign. >> polluted water is pumped into a shallow screen trough. as the water flows through to the algae, the algae attaches and cleaned the water. then it is pumped back into the harbor. >> we know for sure that lg, just by the fact that it is growing come up removed -- removes nutrients.

that will be off the coast in the morning. tomorrow looks like a nice spring day. 88 in kansas city. 80 in denver of too rapid city. in death valley, calif., 113 this afternoon. the hottest ever in april out there. summer is locked in out in the west. cool, wintry weather continuing in the northeast. and we have this boundary for low pressure to track run along that boundary. the cool in the east and the heat out west. this will probably get in here on thursday. as it makes its way into the ohio valley tomorrow, severe thunderstorms are possible. after clouds move out tomorrow night, sunshine and then the clippard moves in on thursday with showers and maybe thunderstorms. and yet another storm on our doorstep by late friday. that could bring us more whether by the weekend.
