the weapon of choice? a pair of scissors. police were called to the scene about 9:30 a.m. by a man who said he had been stabbed by a woman multiple times with a pair of scissors. the victim was taken to johns hopkins hospital and is listed in stable condition tonight. >> now to a violent weekend here in baltimore city. almost a dozen shootings and one stabbing and tonight, for people are dead. our debt.eople t >> police said they are concerned about the amount of violence this weekend, but say they are making progress on a number of these cases. >> we had about four non-fatal shootings and stabbings over the weekend. >> a weekend of violence left four people dead. >> what is important is how police respond. >> it began friday at about 9:00 p.m. when a 27-year-old man was

shot in the 800 block of bridge bureau. he would survive. a couple of hours later at 12:45 p.m. saturday, a 25-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and leg. he would survive as well. around 2:45 a.m., a woman stopped at her car on the 3200 block of north east parkway was shot after a car pulled up next door and opened fire. the violence spread into mother's day, resulting in four homicides. one was on franklin avenue and the other in the 2600 block of park heights terrace, and one more in the 1600 blocks of children's street and another in the 100 block of 32nd street. >> we have people in custody and being questioned by detectives. detectives are making progress. >> police tell us they are making progress on a number of cases and have actually taken a couple of people into custody.

car dealership fire. it was in prince george's -- prince george's county. no word on what extent of damage, but at least three cars and one r.v. were torched in the blaze. an investigation into the cause continues. after a tough loss in the stanley cup playoffs this weekend, the washington capitals have announced that there had coach will not be returning. he said he is leaving for family reasons. he told the general manager his decision this afternoon, saying he got everything he could out of the team and that it was the right thing to do. he will be returning to ontario, canada where he coached the junior team before heading to washington. alert,onight's medical doctors in massachusetts are testing a new type of colonoscopy in which -- get this -- does not require a laxative

preparation. that is the most common reason people skip the test. it will use a ct scan to get a visual of the colon. patients have to eat high fiber two days before the test and take a special bill. it was able to identify more than 90% of the pilots that are most likely to become cancerous. shoulder pain can come on quite quickly and with no explanation as to what is causing it. you do not have to live with that pain. >> chris is working her way back to being a pain-free. she goes to physical therapy twice a week for a torn rotator cuff, an injury that came as a surprise. >> it felt like a strained muscle, basically. it would work -- hurt worse when i moved a certain way. i could not lift my arm high.

the john edwards lawyers tried to make the case that money you -- money that went to support his mistress was not a campaign contribution. she testified in federal court today. money from two wealthy donors is still not on disclosure reports before it -- because the federal election commission decided it was not a campaign competition. -- contribution. several fires in the phoenix, ariz. area continue burning tonight as firefighters work to get them under control. so far, they've destroyed a total of nearly 9,000 acres. one known as the gladiator fire has forced mandatory evacuations.
