a couple of thunderstorm warnings have popped up into eastern georgia. that is where the main threat of severe weather will remain. there is a chance of a shower or isolated thunderstorm. it will stay warm and muggy. 50's and 60's tonight. once that gets out of here we might be able to bring in some decent weather as we had for the preakness weekend. details with the seven-day in a few minutes. >> a great deal for students but a costly mistake. four students at the university of maryland, baltimore county, got an unexpected free ride. they received financial aid and free tuition credit is a mistake the school is still trying to correct. >> this was one of the main findings of an audit made public today by the department of legislative services and points out other areas where the university has made some errors.

umbc as a national reputation as the nation's no. 1 up-and-coming inversely but it is not a school that is problem free. an audit turned up errors in regard to student tuition. >> a student received a refund but had not been charged tuition. >> it happened on four occasions between 2008 and 2011. the audit revealed one student was not charged up to $8,000 in tuition and fees. this seems to be received a break.0.800 -- 10,00 >> they collect $100 million a year in revenue. this is a unique circumstance and they are researching, it is

details starting this morning when they woke up. >> at 5:00 a.m. tuesday morning, the woman who lived at this house inexplicably open fire on her four children. at first, just wanting them. the neighbors were well -- awakened by the sound of gunfire. >> they found three children who reside at the residence next door. the children -- it did appear they had been shot. >> the children were bleeding and asking for help when their mother stepped outside herself. >> the mother came out of the residence next door and called for the children to return home at which time they left and went back to the house. >> morgan jobs which were also hurt by police who arrived to find a 17-year-old female lying unconscious in the front yard. a swat team entered the house.

it had gone silent following one final shot fired. swat team members find four bodies. >> three children and we believe to be the shooter which is the mother inside the residence. >> the victims had been identified as netanya thomas and pebbles, jack and joel. they were in church on sunday for mother's day. she did not leave a suicide note but the friend said she sent him a text message hours before the shooting asking that she and her children be cremated. >> 14 hours of rigorous physical and mental challenges including a 2 mile regimental run, an obstacle course, and casually -- a casualty evacuation.

to support the spending. >> we need to protect our bond rating. we need this bill to pass to protect the services that the people of the state of maryland value. >> the package increases the income rate -- tax rate and filers who earn then -- more than 100 tricky thousand dollars. supporters say this is about raising taxes to do something for people. >> to a1c streets, do you want good schools, quality of life issues that are so important. >> the rate increase and personal exemptions will impact 47%. the increase will affect 16% of taxpayers in anne arundel county. in carroll county, 13.2% pay more. hartford county is 11.7%. howard county bears the brunt at

decent rain. others have not had much at all. one of those locations downtown, less than half an inch. we have had three-quarters of an inch. you can see a few showers making their way through baltimore across the bay and on to the eastern shore as the day has worn on. there are scattered showers in the area, especially to the shousouth. and some storms are popping up around i-81 in western virginia. farther south than gets rougher with some of the severe weather on going in the carolinas. it turned out to be a decent day. it might work out fine for the orioles and yankees. the forecast, we cannot rule out a shower popping up at any time. it is a 30% to a 40% chance at first pitch time. light south wind with a chance of a shower and we should get

message to annapolis calling a recent court ruling on pit bulls a crisis in the making. they joined forces to rally against a maryland court ruling that says. bulls are inherently dangerous. >> owners and animal rights supporters disagree anyone legislation to change it. barry simms trenches from annapolis with the latest. >> the dog owners are concerned about tenants losing their homes and people being put down because they're considered dangerous. >> as lawmakers passed the law in annapolis, dog owners shouted in support of their pets. this was part of a rally in response to a court ruling that considers pit bulls inherently dangerous animals. these owners disagree with the court ruling and are fighting against any specific legislation. >> i do not think a lot of people understand the

implications of this. and all the misery and suffering that is going to happen because of this ruling. >> during the legislative session, the minority leader brought the matter to the senate floor. >> the challenges -- challenge is the court has ruled and we have participation from our citizens who are concerned. >> mark davidson of baltimore county could not attend the rally but his dogs are friendly and listen to his command. the problem because of the court ruling, his landlord is worried about being sued if the dogs harm anyone. for him to remain in his home he has rented for about a year, his pets must leave by the beginning of june. gretzky said either the dogs have to go or we have got to go.

you can see from lightning strikes, north of charlottesville. around virginia beach. a couple of lightning strikes in central pennsylvania. those have seen some storms pop up. the clouds are breaking and some sound coming out. that warm things up and produces the possibility of a thunderstorm and a warm and humid afternoon. staying north of maryland's 04. it is kind of warm and humid. the normal is only 74. into the morning we did have a decent rain. 0.3 of an inch of rain. record amount of rain on this day. that came down in 1892. the rain did help to wash most of the pollen out of the

atmosphere. no mold to report or we'd pollen. just some tree and grass pollen. the reign of terror here into southern new england and a couple of isolated storms popping up as temperatures stay in the upper 70's and lo 80's. a few showers passing through. most areas staying dry. a chance for an afternoon storms tomorrow. it will feel like summertime. a cool front should get here tomorrow night. southwest wind on the bay. we have had a weather system that is slowly moving offshore. the next system is this line of showers. a cool front is expected to get here. it will trigger some thunderstorms. some beautiful weather settles in. we should be in the mid-70's with highs in the upper 40's.
