[laughter] >> weather-wise we have a little bit of rain to contend with. but late this afternoon we could see some severe weather but h.d. doppler is picking up light rain coming out of the d.c. area. it's moving north, so it will move into the baltimore region probably within the next half-hour or so. our forecast for the rest of the day. sunshine will break out during lunchtime, but after that scattered thunderstorms and a

county. >> the suspect now admits to eating parts of his alleged victim. 11 news reporter jennifer franciotti joins us live in the studio. it's not suspect's first runin with the law either. >> no. but things have taken a strange turn for this 21-year-old suspect. two weeks ago he was arrested for salmt in his morgan state dorm room and he left school and moved back in with his family and now accuse ed of this gruesome crime. alexander kinyua was a third-year engineering student in good standing until that incident. he moved back home with his family and there was a border renting a room in that family's house from ghana, kujoe bonsafo agyei-kodie. he was reported missing last friday then police got a call about a gruesome discovery. police found a head and two hands in separate tins and the police say the alleged suspect admits to much more.

>> he admitted to killing our missing person, mr. kodie and cutting him up with a knife. he further stated he consumed mr. kodie's internal organs, specifically his heart and portions of his brain. >> detectives say the suspect has expressed no reason or remorse for his behavior and is being held without bond but he may not have acted alone. we'll have more on police suspicions coming up at 6:30. back to you. >> new this morning, city police are investigating a deadly stabbing in east baltimore. an unidentified victim was stabbed in the chest in the 3,000 block of east preston street and pronounced dead at the scene. no word this morning on a suspect or possible motive. and a man who set a romantic rival on fire is waking up in custody. he turned himself into police and say he killed darryl augustus over the weekend and

then set his body on fire in the back of a pick-up truck. he said augustus was killed after he started dating ellis' ex-girlfriend. >> and a campuswide security scare. early thursday morning the woman said the suspect showed her a gun and then security conducted a campuswide search and found a weapon. some felt the aletter -- the alert through text message was too vague. >> one thing we face is you're limited to 140 characterize, so it makes it hard for you to put out a lot of information at any one time. >> campus police have not identified the suspect. >> this morning state police are looking to identify more possible victims in the case of a man accused of taking pictures of children inside

public bathrooms. >> 28-year-old brian williams is charged with taking pictures of children at the maryland house at harford county and chesapeake house in cecil county. someone reported seeing him take a picture of a young boy using a urinal and investigators creezed two of his cell phones. >> further investigation revealed there were several videotapings of other young unidentified boys in rest rooms in these rest areas. >> in all pools say they found videos of 11 victims and are now asking anyone who thinks they may have been victimized at either rest stop come forward. meanwhile, baltimore city police are looking for a man who tried lure a 9-year-old girl. she was walking along richie highway when a man approached her and asked her where she was going.

police are looking for a white male in his 60's and he was wearing a black ski mask and white t-shirt and white shorts and slippers. >> and investigators are looking for a man. the victim told police a man driving a gray pick-up offered her a ride and the victim was physically assaulted inside the truck but broke free and ran into a wooded area where the attack continued. >> apparently this individual pulled over on the shoulder at some point according to the victim, was assaulting her inside the vehicle and then she fled into a wooded area where she reports she was sexual assaulted. >> he's described as a caucasian man in his 40's six feet tall with blond hair. anyone with information should call police.

>> well, this morning, we're looking ahead to a much-anticipated indicator on how the economy is doing when the government releases its jobs report. it's predicted the unemployment rate will stay above last month with overall growth below what we saw last winter. halle jackson has more on what that means this morning's economy project report. good morning halle. >> good morning stan. that the morning we expect to find out 150,000 jobs will be added. so that is growth but not a lot and expresses some concern with other parts of the economy in the nation. >> the dow had its worst performance in may since this time two years ago. and shoppers spent a little more money in may but analysts say that could be temporary considering the consumer confidence is down. it could affect a lot including the housing market. >> there's a lot of uncertainty

out there and a lot of layoffs have come unannounced. >> even though we found out this week from the national association of realtors that fewer people signed contracts to buy houses in april, the market is still looking better than last year. >> this house is on the market about three weeks. our days on market is coming down since last year. we had a lot of pentup buyer demand over the past 24 months. >> and with the economy driving the news on wall street, main street, your street, no surprise the job numbers also steer what's happening on the campaign trail. >> it can work both ways. if we see better than expected job numbers, that's something president obama and his campaign can point to and say, hey, what we're doing is working. >> the romney campaign can also hammer the campaign of president obama saying the jobs numbers are worse. the president is in minnesota helping to promote an

>> welcome back. the time is 13 minutes after 6:00. it's 71 degrees down at the maryland science center. this could end up being a bumpy weather day for us. late this afternoon and evening we have a possibility of some severe weather. to start the day today, there's nothing going on. high thin cloud cover. 62 in parkton. and for the most part we're going to start out with some dry conditions, but rain

showers will probably catch up to us toward the tail end of the drive time. we have low pressure in the ohio valley. warm front cutting south of us through virginia. this warm front is going to lift north through baltimore by the early noon hours getting us into a more hot and humid air mas. when that happens the atmosphere will become unstable. north of us there will be enough turn in the atmosphere. we call it wind shear, where wind changes directions to possibly get torned aic -- tornadic results. right now in the short-term as this warm front approaches from the south, we should just look at light rain. even though it's probably not raining at your house just yet, we do have a chance for light rain toward the tail end of the drive time. but the amount of sunshine is going to be the key to this

forecast. right now there's a high cloud deck. if we get sunshine behind that, we will set up the situation i noted before. the possibility for large hail, wind gusts over 60 miles per hour and a chance for tornadic activity if everything sets up just right. just because you have all the ingredients for severe weather doesn't mean you will get it, but we have to look out for it. the highs should be in the low 80's. if you're headed to the ocean, chance for thunderstorms at the beach, especially this afternoon. tomorrow morning there could be rain early that should clear up in the afternoon. once you get beyond early saturday, things should be fine. if you're up real early on saturday, you should see rain.

>> taking a look at some of your fop stories. federal prosecutors say it's unlikely they will retry john edwards. a jury acquited the former presidential candidate of one charge but jurors could not decide on the other five, so the judge declared a mistrial on those. edwards was accused of using donor money to hide his pregnant mistress during 2008 presidential campaign. a wildfire in new mexico has grown to nearly 300 square miles and spreading in all directions. more than 124urks firefighters are working the massive blaze near the arizona border. so far it's consumed 20 buildings in the area and experts say this is just a preview of things to come as states contend with wind, low humidity and tinder dry vegeation. a sense of deja vu at the white house as president george w. bush and laura bush unveil

without bond and the kinyua's family's accounts with the disappearance is not matching up and they are looking into a coverup or other participation. >> looks like the bell has rung in round two in the escalating battle of words over public safety between pat mcdonough and baltimore city mayor stephanie rawlings-blake. he called out the mayor after another incident of youth violence. a group out of school-aged children randomly attacked a 50-year-old federal employee at the plaza and the day before that a fight between two groups of young people at charles and lum bard street and mcdonough challenged rawlings-blake to a debate. >> the rawlings-blake administration wants to play the race card. some people in the media. not tv, want to play the demonization card, and i want to play the let's fix the

>> welcome back to 11 news today, it's 6:44. in the headlines, city police are investigating a deadly stabbing in east baltimore. the unidentified victim was stabbed in the chest thursday evening. he was pronounced dead at the scene. no word this morning on a suspect or possible motive. meanwhile, baltimore county police are investigating a double stabbing near owings middle boulevard and glen brook avenue where police say they found a man and woman suffering from stab wounds. they believe it may be connected to a niche traffic crash. four people were hurt in that accident. those victims were taken to an area hospital suffering from minor injuries while the two stabbing victims were transported to shock trauma with possible life-threatening injuries. >> and police say the man who

commute as it gets busier out there. looking at delays and incidents. just past 895 on the southwest side, delays due to an accident. 85 and lumbar street, still debris being cleared. pulaski highway in the area of joppa, watch for an accident still in the clearing stages. here's a quick live look at traffic and an update on the northbound delays on 895. northbound 95 and approaching 895 on the southwest side. so watch for northbound delays. 795 looks pretty good traveling southbound. once you get closer to owings mills and the beltway is when things start to build. and that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. now tony has a check of the forecast which could get interesting later on.

>> yes. the weather could get bumpy. but this morning, not so bad. there could be a few scattered showers. 62 degrees in parkton. we should be able to sneak into the low 80's this afternoon. humidity will be going up throughout the day as well. here's the setup. low pressure in the ohio valley. cold front cutting south of that. this warm front moving through the central part of virginia will be the key player in our scenario. as it moves north we will get into the more humid and unstable air mass. south of that front we could see thunderstorms developing late this afternoon into this evening. some of those could start to rotate and could produce tornadoes. so we'll watch for that. but as the warm front approaches, we could see rain showers moving from virginia into the southern part of maryland. so we'll see at least light rain develop in most

neighborhoods over the next hour or two, but that's not the severe weather scenario we're talking about for later today. if we get the severe weather, this will park itself in southern pennsylvania. this will create the instability. with the winds changing direction with height, some of the storms could start to rotate, and there's a possibility we could see some tornadoes develop later this afternoon. there's a chance for some large hail and wind gusts over 60 miles per hour. just because all the ingredients are there for severe weather doesn't always mean it's going to happen, but we have to prepare for that possibility. so our forecast, a chance for showers and scattered thunderstorms later this evening. high temperatures in the upper 70's, and lower 80's. a chance for some light rain tomorrow morning, and then it
