herrera in a bedroom that needs some work. take a look as she breathes new life into this space? just one day. >> hi, i'm frances herrera of interiors by francesca. i'm standing in my client's home, the bedroom which is in desperate need of a makeover. it's got bland walls, matching furniture, which is dark, which really weighs the room down. i need to brighten it up, bring in a lot of the energy into the space. and most importantly, color. this corner is a waste right now. it's a great opportunity to make it feel elegant, cozy, and much more functional. the betting ensemble is looking a little granny, and my client is a sophisticated bachelor. i'm going to reinvent this bed so that it's much more polished. i definitely have my hands full today. so i need to get started. when starting a makeover, the first thing you need to do is take everything away. that way you have a blank canvas.
2:31 am
photos add a lot of personality, but these frames are not cutting it. this lamp belongs back in grandma's house. that's everything. it looks better already. mirrors are not only to be hung above dressers. look how fabulous they look above this bed. i'm loving these lamps. when you're choosing lamps to go on top of dark furniture, always go for contrast. your artwork does not have to be expensive, but it definitely has to be professionally framed and matted for a high-end look. i love to use euro shams. they're much more comfortable and cozy, perfect for reading in bed. there, that's more like it. the transformation is complete.
2:32 am
in just a few hours, i completely changed the look of this space. let me show you what i did. now there's this burst of color which adds visual interest to the space and makes it much more polished and refined. before there were a lot of knick knacks, and we added pieces that were much more sculptural and had purpose. we still wanted to keep the homeowner's personality, so i kelp the photograph but placed it in a frame that's much more sophisticated. by bringing in the round mirror and the round column lamps, it automatically softened up this wall, made it crisper and brighter. i like to treat floors like a fifth wall. a flat weave like this is like art for your floors. instead of buying a bed in a bag, i like to mix my ensemble. i chose pillowcases and sheets that has a modern geometric print that makes the bed feel masculine. i love the stroke of blue which
