ratings are not that accurate. there is a great resources for moms we work with. common sense media. it's age appropriate ratings for every movie out there. it's wonderful to have that. >> so let's go through some of the best summer movies. for the younger kids, for kids about 4 and up and you love madagascar 3. >> yes, it's coming out this weekend. i was a screener with my 4 1/2-year-old. so she really loved it. now it's rated "pg." there's mild action, plenty of shooting and chase scenes. i kept looking over at my daughter to make sure she was okay. good for the sort of preschool, early elementary school age. >> the whole gang is back for that one. >> and trying to get back through europe to the big apple. >> all right. the next movie is the movie "brave" and i know i've seen the previews for this one. i can't wait to see this. it looks like such a great film with a great message. >> and you're not alone. we asked the women at ivillage what is the one movie you are just as excited to see as your kids, "brave."

hands down. now it is "pg." a little scary action. but we think it's for the 4 and up crowd. and it's a strong heroine with fiery red hair. that is the princess more interested in archery than tending to her princess duties. my 6-year-old can't wait to see this. there have been 6 million views of the trailer on youtube alone. >> really? it's going to be a huge hit then. now let's move on up to the 'tweens. this is the 6 to 12-year-old age group. my son cannot wait to see this one "the diary of the wimpy kid dog days" this is the third movie in the series. my son is a huge fan of the books, as are a lot of kids of that age. >> the books are so popular. i got to see this one, as well. it is darling. and may be good for your husband to take your son. really great for dads to take their kids because the whole plot centers around the main character who is a video game loving kid, and his dad is not so happy about all those video games. >> it sounds so familiar at my house. a battle we've been having this

"pg 13" is so important because it's complicated. we had two of our ivillage real mom contributors, how do you deal with "pg 13" and they said they even saw movies when they were younger that were just too tough for them. go see the movie or use common sense. >> thank you. coming up next, aretha franklin gets a little respect in our kitchen.
