[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- >> good afternoon. we begin with breaking news in baltimore county. a teenage girl has been stabbed. this is video just sent in from skype team 11. just before 10:30 a.m. police responded to a call and found a 16-year-old girl suffering from stab wounds.

she is being treated at the university of maryland. now, to the big news. a beloved penn state coach accused of sexually molesting young boys. now the trial against jerry sandusky begins. we have the latest from pennsylvania. >> on day one of jury selection, jerry sandusky arrived with his attorney. the prosecution is here, and so is the judge. all that is missing now is the jurors who will hear the case. finding an unbiased jury is easier said than done in a place where sandusky was once idolized. this suburb of the city that is penn state is home to the university and its legendary football team. a judge had to be called in from a neighboring county. jurors may have to be imported

as well if the lawyers cannot find enough impartial jurors here. the trial is expected to be emotionally rendering. some of the legend victims will have to testify against the former coach. >> it is sad that if you report to the police and your case moves forward, and you also have to be concerned about whether your particular story and humiliating things will be open for discussion in court and at dinner tables across the country. >> many of the alleged victims were part of the second mile, a charity that helped at risk youth. sandusky has repeatedly professed his innocence. a group of jurors will take on the responsibility of saying who is telling the truth. this scandal has not only tarnished the penn state football legend, it so far has cost the university an

estimated $10 million in legal and other fees. >> police are looking for the person or persons responsible for some unpleasant wake-up calls in maryland city. police say they received two reports of home invasion is within a matter of minutes monday morning. both victims were elderly women, the first and 91-year-old woman who encountered a man in her bedroom and the second, a 74- year-old woman who woke up to a stranger shining a flashlight in her face. >> maybe we are going to have to get a community watch, someone to stand watch, call the police, said in a car and stand watch. i do not know what is going to have to happen. >> police said the suspects were stealing cash. officers are looking for two male suspects but they say they have only a vague description. if you have any information,

you're asked to call crime stoppers. howard county police uncovered a meth lab inside a hotel. police received an anonymous call from the holiday inn express. officers arrested three men who were in the room and a fourth who arrived a short time later. all rooms were evacuated. meantime, baltimore county police are looking into a stabbing a little after 9:00 last night. it was near middle river road where a man was found suffering a stab wound to the chest. he was taken to the medical center and the violent crime unit is investigating. two men are dead in an overnight shooting in northwest baltimore. just after midnight, police arrived on the scene of the home in the 4400 block of palm mile road. they found the victim shot dead on his porch. there is no word of a suspect or

the celebration. it was a service of thanksgiving at the cathedral. followed by lunch at the house of commons with 700 guests. then, a carriage procession through the streets of london where tens of thousands of well- wishers waved and cheered on the streets. the duke of edinburgh is not by her side. he has been there every day of her reign, but he is currently hospitalized with a bladder infection. on sunday, 1000 boats took to the river to pay tribute to her majesty. she was moved by the celebration and support shunned her over this four day holiday.

charging her with attempted murder in connection with a may stabbing. police tell us they had already charged a woman with the stabbing when they picked up brown. someone close to the victim went to a court commissioner and filed a complaint against brown that got the teenager locked up, no questions asked. police say the warrant was wrongfully issued but it took until monday night to release her. >> she is an honor roll student with a scholarship. she has college units. she did track and field. she worked all year to pay for graduation and she missed it because of a misunderstanding. >> we went to the home of the person that filed the complaint. no one answered. police say the warmus wrongfully issued by a court commissioner. still ahead -- warrant was wrongfully issued by a court commissioner. still ahead, the cost of heating

monthly power bills will go up about 10%. they blame requiring the use of more renewable energy and mandating a cut in pollution from coal fired power plants. the seasonally adjusted increase of 67,000 teenagers between 16-19 have jobs, the biggest increase since 1999. the job market is still tough for teens who are still dealing with an unemployment rate near 25%. could facebook be getting younger? according to an article in "the wall street journal," children under 13 years of age will be allowed to use facebook under parental supervision. their accounts will be linked to their parents' account and controls will allow parents to decide who they can friend.

facebook currently bans users under 13. >> now, your forecast. >> it has been a bit of a slow start to the day as far as temperatures go but we are finally starting to warm up. it is 70 degrees downtown at the inner harbor. the airport still in the mid- 60's. 60 in western maryland. we started off the day in the 50's around the metro area. after the chilly start, we're not going to warm up too much more in the afternoon. the wind in the inner harbor is now down to about 7 miles per hour. along the coast, it is 21 miles per hour. this is along the back of a low pressure system that is still heading out to sea. our winner is going to become more variable and lighter as that storm heads off the coast. you can see some light sprinkles now in southern pennsylvania just over the mountains, more showers as you head into

virginia. these are isolated, and this is what we will see into the afternoon. if anything pops up, it will be scattered about. as that area of low pressure sets of the coast, also a second area of north carolina, this is helping to increase showers down there. the cold front has gone all the way down toward the gulf coast. that is allowing cooler to move in over the great lakes and northeast as well. the jet stream is moving down toward the south and that is helping colder come in from the north. the jet stream usually helps distinguish the cool air from the warm. it is just getting right south of us, which has allowed the temperatures to drop down. 65 around baltimore. 64 towards north carolina. only 73 in atlanta. you do not have to go too far west -- that orange shading is the 70's and 80's. 90's on the planes for the next

couple of days. essentially the heat will be headed our way. today, we stay on the cool side with temperatures in the low- 70's. out toward the west, a better chance for showers, especially in southern pennsylvania. even in baltimore, there may be of -- an isolated showers in the afternoon and evening. a chilly start your day tomorrow and we will be in the mid-70's by the afternoon. isolated showers chances tomorrow and thursday as well. this weekend, we drive out, the sun comes out, and temperatures should warm up. >> carrying all from valley view farm's is here to answer your plant and guarding questions. >> this is a great planned for summer heat/
