stand as early as next week as the prosecution begins to wrap up its case. yesterday one of ten aleced victims told the jury sandusky threatened he would never see his family again if he told anyone about the alleged sexual abuse. nbc's brian mooar reports. >> reporter: the jerry sandusky sex abuse trial is moving so quickly the judge announced the prosecution's case could wrap up as early as friday. once the defense begins, sandusky is expected to testify, and it may be a critical chance to undo any damage done yesterday when jurors heard this interview with nbc's bob costa. >> are you sexually attracted to underage boys? >> am i sexually attracted toed up age boys? >> yes. >> sexually attracted? i love young boys. i love to be around them, but, no, i'm not sexually attracted

to young boys. >> reporter: also on day three a janitor testified that a coworker now suffering from dementia caught sandusky in an agts lettic facility shower with a young boy. three alleged victims also told stories that echoed each other and previous accusers. >> there's that thread that runs through all these victims. >> reporter: one wept as he encountered a memory. a third said sandusky fondled and groped him repeatedly. under defense questioning he admitted he told a grand jury there was no abuse but said it was so dramatic hoe had just blocked it on. brian mooar, nbc news, bell front, pennsylvania. back on the campaign trail, it's all about the economy. president obama and mitt romney are in the battleground state of ohio where they're trying to convince voters they have the right economic plan.

nbc's tracie potts has those details. good morning. >> lynn, good morning. he was talking to the business council and had a pretty pointed criticism for the president saying that americans are tired of politicians making excuses instead of taking responsibility. he predicted that today in ohio the president will, as he put it, speak eloquently, but that words are cheap. as you said, they're both in ohio on opposite sides of the state, that the prot won four years ago. romney is in cincinnati with as by group and the president in cleveland. however, we've got a new abc washington poefts poll that shows americans, especially independents, not satisfied with either candidate's economic plans. 54% against the obama plan, 47% not thrilled with the romney plan either. lynn? >> all right. tracie potts for us there in

washington. thanks so much. new doping charges have been filed against former cycling champ lance armstrong. armstrong won seven tour de france titles but he could be stripped of those. it said they collected blood samples from armstrong in 2009 and 2010 that were consistent with blood manipulations and transfusions. armstrong has never positive for drugs and he denies the charges. he has been immediately barred from iron man triathlon since he beans doing since retiring from last year. and now here's a look at some other stories making news early today in america. a severe storm system gave dallas a pounding leaving widespread damage in its weak. golf ball sized hail pounded the region. a nearly 30-minute storm also toppled power lines and trees but luckily it didn't cause any injuries to anyone.

unlike the neighbors in the north, showers in corpus christi were more of an isolated incident. a 30-foot geyser erupted from a residential street after a water main rupture. it took almost four hours for crews to shut the water off. and, finally, the celebration of father's day came a few days early for one upstate military girl and her navel dade. she was surprised at field day with an early return from the middle east. she later said she missed him, quote, 100%. bit she did. what a sight there. and now for a look at your national and regional weather, here's nbc meteorologist bill karins. he has your weather channel forecast. >> i used to love field day. >> a lot of things to take away from that story, you take that away. i know. we used to make the tie dye t-shirts. it was great. >> do you still got it? >> no, absolutely not. >> i could see you in a tie dye t-shirt. good morning, everyone.

i'm searching for a lead weather story. there's not much going on. it's a very, very quiet june day. there's a line of dying showers up in the northern area. it will move into minnesota shortly. this is it. there's really not much else going on. we've also got a little batch of thunderstorms down here by lufton, texas, that's been producing locally heavy rain and that about does it. this is a very quiet weather pattern out there. a beautiful weather pattern really from the great lakes to the southeast. all that humidity has been pushed back down to the south with a cold front that went amazingly far to the south for this time of year. usually these cold fronts don't make it this far. it's a gorgeous air mass. this june, now we're smack in the middle of it, has been amazingly dry. chicago, one of the driest junes ever. you've only had a trace in the bucket. .001. it's going to remain that way for the next two days. the forecast, just enjoy it from atlanta to the east coast.

i'm lynn berry, and here are some of your top headlines this morning. massive wildfires continue to rage in the west. a wildfire in new mexico has burn mder than 37,000 acres and destroyed at least 224 homes, and a fire in colorado has destroyed about a hundred buildings and burned 73 square miles. john edwards will not face another trial on charges of using campaign donations to cover up his pregnant mistress. the justice department dropped all charges against edwards after his corruption trial last month ended in a deadlocked jury. a texas man has been convicted of murder after a houston jury rejected his stand your ground defense. raul rodriguez shot aunt killed his neighbor in a dispute of a noisy birthday parties in 2010. and a basketball washed away by the 2011 tsunami has been returned to a junior high school in japan. it was shipped back to japan from an island in alaska where
