altercation with baltimore county police. it began last night around 10:30. officers got into a confrontation with an unidentified suspect. police say no shots were fired. the investigation into this case continues this morning. police are looking for a suspect in connection with a beating attack on homewood avenue. police found a person had been attacked a number of times by baseball bat. a child was found unresponsive inside a home on north streaker kereet. -- north stricte street. so far no charges have been filed. >> the mayor is taking steps to

keep streets safe in the late- night hours. jennifer franciotti is live this morning with more on the story. >> good morning. the idea behind this curfew center is to get young people off the streets after hours. the city is opening its first curfew center. it will be located on north avenue at the success center. it will start to be open this friday, june 15. it will run through august 11. it will be open on fridays and saturdays from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. it's a way to get young people off the streets and hold their parents accountable. last year police say about 750 juveniles came through the curfew center with an average of about 30 a night. >> we expect parents to enforce the curfew all year long. but in the summertime, kids are at risk of being more vulnerable and it is important for us to work in collaboration.

involved. he will serve 60 days behind bars for the author of the robocalls. the judge explained that he henson was unapologetic for his crimes. >> he he did not see this as a problem. that is what the court was facing and that is why the court made a strong sentence in this matter. >> paul schurick was sentenced to a month of home detention for his role in the crime. >> police hoping surveillance picture will help them identify somebody who robbed a convenience center. this happened on reisterstown road. the suspect brandished a gun. police are asking anyone who can identify this person to give them a call at 1-866-7-lockup.

>> who is do you think will do a better job about the economy, president obama or mitt romney? tara mergener has more on the story. good morning. >> good morning. president obama and mitt romney are gearing up for these du eling economic speeches just minutes apart in the crucial swing state of ohio. the president's first major economic speech of the general election will happen at a community college in cleveland, where he is expected to defend his handling of the economy, tell voters he feels their pain, and urge them to stick with him for another term. mitt romney will make a campaign stop about 250 miles away in cincinnati. the gop hopeful will tell a divided public how he would lead the economy, including his priorities for the first 100 days in office. the speeches follow a month marked by bad economic news including dismal growth and a

spike in the unemployment rate. while the economy remains the top priority in this election, polls show many voters are not impressed with either candidate on this issue. >> so the election may come down to the american people's comparative evaluation -- who is more out of touch? that is not a very comfortable position for either of these candidates to find themselves in. >> the president is not expected to outline any new economic policies during his speech today. >> both candidates have a ways to go to win over voters. >> a new poll shows 30% of undecided voters have a favorable view of president obama's economic policies. mitt romney is a fairy a little bit worse with 35%. not particularly good news in either case.

bit earlier. the "today" show is covering this as a live event. i got to fly with the blue angels. i got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go in one of their jets. is a video from inside the cockpit. we went straight up into the sky. it was quite an experience. these pilots go through so much training. they do not wear g-suits. they have to do so much training to be able to withstand that. i got a little taste of what they goes through. it makes you feel like you're almost 900 pounds. it took the wind out of me.

>> your secret is safe with me. easternpper 60's on the shore. they are under the influence of some pretty heavy cloud cover. out west, they are under the influence of high pressure. there temperatures are a little bit cooler. they may get to around 78 to 80 degrees out west. some of this high cloud cover on the eastern shore of the state. things are a little clearer west of the bay and that is because of this system that is being stubborn and bringing with it some cloud cover and the wind. this will move everything out and give us some spectacular weather. the humidity will build because we will have an easterly wind. we will take those nice temperatures and no rain.

during the month of may. the schurick tribe in gas prices slow down the overall sales figures. gas station sales fell 2.2% in may. retail spending increased just 0.1% last month. people spend more on things like cars and appliances. there is a growing interest in seeing athletes in their underwear. it is getting more expensive to be a parent. jane king has the bloomberg business report. >> a middle income family may middle $235,000 to raise a child. that is up 3.5% from the
