we do have showers at the airport. 65 is the current temperature. temperatures have a hard time warming up with the cloud cover. we're expecting only the low 70's this afternoon. we may get some sunshine later today. details coming up in the insta- weather plus forecast. >> a family in east baltimore is trying to move on after a fire claimed the lives of several love one's this weekend. 11 news has been following developments since saturday night. officials say the fire started after 11:00 p.m. we're told 51-year-old bruce wagner and two family dogs were killed in the blaze. three other people got out safely. one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. the surviving family members say their pit bull save their lives. >> our pit bull was the only one barking to wake us up. we all came to the living room. the fire was bursting out so bad

to where we just made it outside alive. >> firefighters did not find any working smoke detectors in the home. the cause of the fire is under investigation. one of the companies that responded to the fire is one of three that can permanently close because of budget cuts. the union president expressed condolences to the victims saying this is one more example of why it is important to keep those companies open. >> we need to have every resource available to us to protect them. we have taken an oath to protect the citizens of baltimore. it is getting tougher. >> he says the company closures will be determined after the third reading of the city budget. a little bit of data is to be on its way to prince george's county and a national harbor. it runs casinos like the mgm grand. it has reached an agreement in principle to build a casino in maryland. it would cover 13 acres and have

child so violently she suffered a seizure. we have learned there were visible bruises on the baby's body. she died at the university of maryland medical center. the prosecution is set up to wrap up the case in the trial and jerry sandusky. that means his defense is preparing. we have the latest from pennsylvania. >> jerry sandusky arrived at the courthouse this morning knowing the time to tell his story is fast approaching. the defense tried to get charges dropped. the judge denied those motions. prosecutors dropped one count against sandusky, account 33, endangering the welfare of a child. the victim 4 said the law was not in effect when the incident occurred. he still faces 51 counts of child sex abuse. on sunday, he met with a psychiatrist for the prosecution. the defense may introduce testimony he suffers from

histrionic personality disorder which causes people to seek attention and act excessively emotional in relationships the letter to the victims, the contrast was so strange. it is hard to explain away. they're looking for anything to explain away that evidence. >> after days of grueling testimony, the defense needs to plant reasonable doubt in jurors'' mines. it may be a long shot. >> histrionic personality disorder may explain someone acting overly familiar in a relationship. as far as crossing a line into sexual behavior, it says nothing about that. >> sandusky is expected to take the stand in his own defense. whether he can do the damage remains to be seen. after calling one last witness, the prosecution has rested its case. the defense is now calling its own witnesses.

>> several kids were rushed to the hospital after tax collided with their school bus in new york this morning. officials say by children and two adults were on board. one adult was seriously hurt. none of the children's injuries appear series. there is no word on what caused the accident. national park officials at mount mckinley have given up efforts to recover four missing japanese climbers. they went missing on wednesday when an avalanche pushed them down a cross -- crevasse. if this member did manage to climb to 60. fire crews are trying to get a handle on a fast-moving brush fire that has charged more than 450 acres and destroyed two structures in san diego county. officials ordered a mandatory evacuation of a neighborhood as a precaution. it is hard to estimate when they will have the fire under control because the wind keeps changing

almost 1/3 of women who use contraception use birth control pills. a new study shows they could put your health at risk. >> nothing is without risk. >> the doctor says he is not surprised by the results of the new study on contraception published in the new england journal of medicine. researchers find otherwise healthy young women doubled their risk of heart attack and stroke if they use oral contraceptives that contained low dose of estrogen and progesterone. >> it is pretty safe, but there has got to be risk with whenever you do. >> in general, the risk of a heart attack or stroke in a healthy young woman is low. the increase when taking birth control is still low. >> if somebody were to take the bill -- pill and developing complications related to the pill, then the risk is high.
