>> on this day 200 years ago, the u.s. officially declared war on great britain, sparking the war of 1812. >> hundreds of people gathered for peaceful ceremony to commemorate the occasion, despite the rain. rob roblin is live at fort mchenry with more on today's events. lowell melser joins us live from federal hill. >> sailabration is coming to an end, and we decided to do our live shot here on top of federal hill, to get one final view of all the beautiful tall ships. some of the tents are being torn down. at 5:00, that ferris wheel was taken down as well. there is no doubt from beginning to end, this event was a huge success. call this year's sailabration it a success would really be an understatement. everywhere you went, from the

inner harbor to locust point, there were crowds of people trying to get a peek at tall ships from around the world and gray hulls ships from our own u.s. navy. if ships were not your thing, over the weekend, all you had to do was look up to get a spectacular view of the blue angels putting on quite a clinic. >> i like the blue angels because they did cool tricks in the air. >> there are crowds everywhere, very well this first. everywhere you went there were crowds of people that are happy. i went to power plant life and the whole place was jumping because of all the activity. >> kirby fowler, president of the downtown partnership says sailabration went beyond expectations. some sources indicate car more than 500,000 people visited baltimore of the past four days, making it one of the largest events in the city's recent history. local businesses were pleased, too.

declaration of war against great britain. >> it is war that really gave the united states recognition as a real nation. we had independence, but we did not have respect. this war gave our country and lack of respect. francis scott key understood that. that is why he wrote the national anthem. the rest is history. >> the name of the ceremony was "from enemies to allies, 200 years of peace." >> we have worked with darker -- with the u.k. to work together around the world as a country that believes and fights for democracy wherever it is at risk. >> in the 200 years since that war, britain, america, and canada have stood side by side in numerous different conflicts, never again fighting with each

>> baltimore city police are looking into an overnight shooting in east baltimore. a man was shot multiple times just before 1:30 this morning. there is no word tonight on his

condition and police have made no arrests in the case. it is unclear what led to the violence. >> two men have been arrested for burglarizing a dozen businesses in the columbia area in howard county. they have been linked to nearly two dozen more berbers in baltimore county. a third suspect is charged with attempted burglary. >> the three men arrested together in baltimore county after police pulled over a black 2008 chevrolet impala. we have learned more about the police investigation. burglar's cost about $1,200 in damage to the front door of this business. workers consider themselves fortunate the thieves did not get past the alarm system. surveillance video captures the early morning burglary attempt. the suspects triggered the blaring alarm and flashing lights, alerting investigators. >> one of the other patrol

units observed of vehicle matching a suspect description of a vehicle taken from a previous burglary. when the officers stopped the vehicle, they discovered that the three men inside were connected to the attempted burglary. all three baltimore and are charged with attempted burglary of the pizza shop on york road in cockeysville. police are linking johnson and jones to numerous burglaries throughout the area. >> further investigation connected to of those men to least 22 other burglaries that had taken place in baltimore county, dating back to april 29. >> the two men are charged with 12 burglaries in howard county. police are also trying jones and johnson to lease two burglaries in anne arundel county. >> in most cases, they smashed open the glass window or door, entered the location and took
