today. jennifer franciotti is live downtown with more on the story. ggy.t is buggy and mud an extreme heat bank even today. baltimore city will be issuing a code red heat alert. it will be dangerously hot today. stocking: centers with water and preparing for some dangerous conditions. they are worried about those living alone and those without air-conditioning. there were 34 heat-related deaths in maryland last year. 32 the year before that. health officials are urging people to stay inside with air conditioning as much as possible and drink at least three liters of water a day. check on elderly family and neighbors and those with existing health conditions. do not assume that small children will speak up when they are thirsty.

the time the teacher went missing. her body was found floating in the susquehanna river a year later. he will appear in court for an arraignment later today. a deadly stabbing. a: not just before midnight to londontowne boulevard. the victim was stabbed in the neck and was pronounced dead. many unanswered questions following a shooting in ellicott city. police were called to frederick road at 7:00 p.m. on monday evening. the boy is in critical but stable condition this morning. no word on who the victim is or who might have shot him and why. >> a double shooting on the west side of town.

this happened on west franklin street. one man was suffering from a gunshot wound. in southwest baltimore, detectives arrived on the scene of a deadly shooting. a man was found shot in the torso on west pratt street. the victim was later pronounced dead. no word as to a suspect or a possible motive. more warnings about the potential dangers about trying to buy or sell off of craigslist. police say the latest incident happened on monday night on bolton straeet. a couple was met by two men with a gun. the couple brought their own gun. >> she was 6 feet away from them. >> the would-be robbers got

away. the woman who fired the shots was arrested on weapons charges. >> a man is being held on $2 million bail after being charged with the rape of a girl. he was arrested last saturday when the teenager was at his home. he remains at the detention center in anne arundel county. >> just hours away from a showdown on capitol hill. house republicans prepare to vote ever called her in contempt of congress. this stems from an investigation into gun smuggling operations. hallie jackson has more on the story. >> republicans want eric holder to turn over documents but he

looking a bit hazy. 77 degrees downtown at the maryland science center. we're feeling here as we are next to the water. we are here with the baltimore dragon club. there is a team behind me of about 18 people. about 22 people could be on the boat. what a fun thing that baltimore has. the baltimore dragon boat club has a breast cancer survivor team and it will be competing at this week's race. you're part of that team and you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. >> that is right, this year. >> we were talking about people surviving breast cancer to get involved in something like this. >> everybody needs to have some kind of exercise whether you run

or do yoga or just walking. it cannot be able to say you do a dragon boat racing for exercise. it is great for breast cancer survivors. you get support any good healthy workout and you can have swelling in the arms on the side of the surgery. because of the action of the muscle will help bring back any of the fluid and a can decrease the swelling in the arms. we encourage any breast cancer survivors to come down on saturday and see what it is about enjoy our team. >>-- and join out team. >> you hoped to get back on the team as soon as you make a back on your treatment. we wish you the best of luck and best of luck to all the teams. you can get involved as well.

investigation has been found dead in new jersey. the body of pawan kumar was found dead inside a room in new jersey hours after he was identified as the suspect in the death of danielle mehlman. she was found dead on monday morning at the atlantic oceanside hotel on coastal highway. >> a panel is reviewing eight reviewing that said pit bull are inherently dangerous -- a panel is reviewing our ruling that said pit bulls are inherently dangerous. a boy was mauled by a pit bull. some question whether bree specific laws are effective.
