the newsroom with more on the story. >> the solicitor is an appointee of the mayor and his opinions as there is no basis for the claim that rules were not followed in the purchase of hundreds of thousands of dollars in telephones and equipment. they found no laws were broken and that the purchase of some telephones was all done properly under existing contracts. the city stepped over authority but that there is no exclusive power to requisition telephones or services with any one agency. it was neither order of the era -- out of the ordinary. the inspector general is also reviewing the purchases in question.

the call came in around 5:00 and shots were fired in glen burnie. it was an attempted armed robbery of a 78-year-old man. the man was in his car when the suspect approached him. >> there was some sort of confrontation. it at that point, one ran was discharged and actually struck the vehicle. but for someone to do that, it is a shame. >> they were shocked and disappointed saying they're glad the victim is ok. >> we have seen guns before. we went through two wars.

>> city officials say there's a good reason why the public polls but not open during this week's heat wave. they say the answer is simple -- pools barack ready. -- the poles were not ready. this is one of the 23 baltimore city pools set to open to the public tomorrow. with temperatures near the 100 mark on wednesday and thursday in the city issuing their first code red alert of the summer, many concerned residents had one question in mind. >> what are the polls open? >> saturday. it's 100 degrees out there. you know the kids want to go in that pool. >> not only do they do, they actually did. we captured kids diving and splashing around dili clifton park on a sweltering thursday

conditions there world for 9:00 tonight and this has already been cancelled for allegany county, a good sign that this is making its way through. look at how the precipitation has fallen and you can see were the strongest storms have been. some scattered showers just north and west of us. in downtown baltimore and at bwi marshall, nothing in the rain gauge yet. 98 at the airport. 100 again at the inner harbor near the maryland science center. the record high as 100, officially measured at the airport, so we were within a few degrees but not quite. other areas are showing signs of beginning to cool off a little bit. as the front makes its way through, by morning skies will clear around baltimore. it will feel a little better.

after the storms moved out, this will bring in the less humid air and high-pressure should give as a nice looking start for the upcoming weekend. the steamy stuff will be pushed down towards the gulf coast. the insta-weather + futurecast showing most of sunday looks good and sunday evening, another front will be coming in triggering a few isolated storms sunday going into monday morning. that will get passed and it turns even cooler into the middle of next week. the trend is downward. 84-89 tomorrow. it will be less humid. no. when on the bay at 10 knots. 70's this weekend and may be a storm arriving late sunday evening. ocean city, should be decent weekend. maybe a shower early, but rest of the day looks nice. 20% chance for that storm on sunday but not until later in the evening.
