boulevard as your alternate to southbound 295. baltimore street is shutdown in the city between stockton and carrollton because of fire department activity. west lexington is a better bet. another problem, a closure in harford county. 136 is shut down at the broad creek bridge. 11 minutes on the outer loop side. five minutes to travel south and 95 from the 895 split down to the fort mchenry. here's a quick live look at traffic. we switch over to some building volume on the west side. those delays will be falling into place very soon. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> a domestic violence suspect

is in critical condition this morning. >> investigators say police had no choice but to get physical when the man resisted arrest. jennifer franciotti is live in towson with more on that. >> the girlfriend is telling a different story. she said police went too far. investigators said they did was necessary to take the suspect into custody. the mother of this children says police came to apartment on sunday after a neighbor called 911. she said she just renewed a peace order against him. police say he took off before he could be arrested for domestic violence. they found him hiding inside a closet. >> they saw him reaching for something.

our use of force guidelines for officers do not require them to wait before somebody produces a gun or knife. our officer attempted to strike him on the hand because they saw him reaching for something. because they were struggling, he was struck on the head. >> he was taken to hospital for treatment where we're told his condition worsened. the woman said her boyfriend was not hiding in the closet. she said he was asleep on the bed. more on that coming up at 6:30. reporting live, jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the mother continues to call for justice in the death of her son after a fight with an off- duty police officer. christopher brown after the officer chased him and placed in any chokehold. told his story last night. --

she told her story last night. >> i would say everybody is not safe. >> prosecutors have promised the brown family a full investigation. >> a deadly late-night shooting in baltimore. detectives arrived just before 10:00 p.m. last night and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. he was pronounced dead at sinai hospital. no word as to a suspect or a possible motive. >> prosecutors not expected to seek any jail time. eli werdesheim could face up to 10 years in prison. he was convicted on second- degree assault. prosecutors will reportedly asked a judge for a suspended sentence. a man could face a 10 year

sentence for stealing rare historic documents. he pleaded guilty last february to charges of conspiracy and theft. his sentence may be reduced. >> loud cries for justice on the mitchell courthouse steps. a political consultant was convicted in the robocall scandal. julius henson was sentenced to 60 days behind bars for his role in the automated phone calls. his co-defendant received home detention for his sentence for his role. the lawyer says his client is being unfairly treated. >> i'm hoping that cooler heads will prevail.

congress has a lot to do before several key deadlines. >> the house stayed in session past 11:00 p.m. last night. time is running out on the student loan rates and transportation funding. >> i would rather not pay more loans. >> he hopes student loan rates stay low and so does congress. stafford interest rates will double sunday if lawmakers don't do something. democrats and republicans agree that shouldn't happen. >> how to pay for it becomes a major problem. >> it looks like the senate struck a deal to pay the cost. mostly through a change in pension funding. but the house still has to ok it. also in the mix, a big transportation bill. members of congress have been negotiating for weeks about this. >> that to my knowledge is not yet resolved whether that will

suspect was caught in one way. police are saying it happened in a different way. they said they did what they needed to do to get a suspect taken into custody. he is in critical condition after an encounter with police. but how that confrontation played out is still unclear. the mother of his two children says police came to her apartment on sunday after a neighbor called 911. she denies that she was punched and tells 11 news she just renewed a peace order against him. >> the police want me to be against him so bad. all have to throw in my face is protective order. i don't care about that. they can charge me with violation of protective order. i don't care. >> investigators say he took off before they could arrest him for domestic violence. police returned on tuesday to serve the warrant and tell us they found him hiding in a closet. >> we saw him reaching for something.

authorities alerted them that an accused killer was heading to baltimore by bus. they picked him up at the welcome center on 95 near route 32 on tuesday morning. he has been on the run for more than a month. a man is in the custody of south carolina police accused of killing his girlfriend. she was shot in the back of the head when it went to pick up their son. he is being held without bond. >> johns hopkins hospital has been ordered to pay $55 million in one of the largest judgments in state history. the jury found the houseboat negligent by delaying an emergency c-section resulting in ntal physical
