corridor and baltimore county is in the clear. it could be a little bumpy today, especially over on the eastern shore. hazy sunshine for the rest of the day. high temperature of 99 with a heat index of 102. we will check the seven-day forecast in just a few minutes. >> good morning. we do have a first problem spot where the storms will throw in the belcamp area of harford county on philadelphia road. we have a slow spot for the south on 95, 36 miles per hour close to the beltway. a couple of things to watch for. the outer loop along the west side checking in at 11 minutes. 10 minutes on 95 southbound in howard county. 70 minutes on 895 between the 95's.

weeks when lawmakers scheduled the vote. this fight will last through november and possibly beyond. the crowds that gathered yesterday have gone. but the halls of congress echoed with protests from republicans. gop leaders saying the real outcome of the court's decision -- >> to strengthen our resolve and to make sure that this law is in fact repealed. >> that's something mitt romney promised to do on his first day in office if elected. >> our mission is clear. if we want to get rid of obamacare, we're going to have to replace president obama. >> romney is just dead wrong and he should know better. >> the president called the ruling a victory for all americans. >> good afternoon. >> and acknowledged that while members of congress should work together to improve the law where they can -- >> what we won't do, what the country cannot afford to do is refight the political battles of two years ago. >> the house has already

scheduled that repeal vote for july 11. next year we'll see some provisions of the health care act go into place. 2014 is when most people will have to have health insurance or pay money to the irs and that is when employers will have to cover employees or they will face stiff penalties. >> many small-business owners are examining how the law will affect them. jennifer franciotti has more on that. >> many small businesses are not sure how they will be affected because under the new ruling, businesses that have 50 employees or more will be required to provide affordable health insurance for their workers or they have to pay a penalty. the penalty starts at $2,000 for every worker that does not have health insurance.

effect. starting on sunday, the state's flush tax will double to $5 per month. new laws to limit septic systems will also be implemented. fire officials will bring in some heavy equipment this point to search for a warehouse worker who may still be trapped after the building's roof collapsed. the entire roof collapsed just after 10:00 p.m. last night. fire crews are putting out hotspots of a fire that broke out overnight. fire crews arrived on the scene just before 4:00 a.m. this morning. extra units had to be called in to extinguish the blaze. so far no reports of any injuries or might have started the fire. >> a suspicious incidents.

owen bernstein and robert hardie have been charged with second- degree assault. this all happened on thursday morning on scott street in south baltimore. police are looking for two men who they say robbed and shot a man. this happened on harford road. a man tried to wrestle the gun away from one of the suspects. anyone with information is asked to call police. and then held a woman against her will in his basement. travis melton met the victim at a party. she arrived at his home and

>> welcome back. 80 degrees downtown. we had some big thunderstorms this morning. now most of the activity is over on the eastern shore. these terms have wind gusts over 60 miles per hour. these are dangerous storms. they're crossing over on to the eastern shore. ton area, it willand are be kind of rough. expects large hail and wind gusts over

60 miles per hour. the western suburbs are in the clear. i will show you how fast these storms are going. what's them develop up in pennsylvania and then raced down across central maryland. 65 miles per hour. they did not last very long. 78 at the airport right now. 74 in taneytown. the humidity is still not terrible. dew points are the low 60's. that to be enough to get the heat index over 100. he is advisory today. after the storms pass, it should be quiet for a while. there could be another thunderstorm develop this afternoon. high temperature between 96 and 101. i don't think we'll break any records they appeared director

perring parkway. those of the problem spots. a crash at riverside parkway and philadelphia road. a slow spot, 46 on 95 in the northeast corner down towards the beltway. otherwise, some of the other major roadways. this is the harrisburg expressway at york road. it looks like north and southbound traffic moving just fine. dulaney valley at the beltway. you can see both loops are moving just fine. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> thank you. favorable weather conditions or allowing firefighters to contain about 10% of the while fire in colorado. authorities were able to enter the city to estimate the damage. at least 347 homes were destroyed by the fire.

the first person known to be killed in the blaze has been found. a judge will reexamine whether to set bond for george zimmerman. lied about his income during a bond hearing. he needs a good explanation to convince the judge to let him out again while he awaits trial. a woman who had a face mauled by a chimpanzee is suing the state for injuries. she was blinded by the attack and has undergone a face transplant to repair damage done to our face. she is suing for $150 million. some >> airlines are upgrading

likely treacle all the way down to small businesses all across the country. jennifer franciotti has more on that. >> many small businesses are trying to figure out how the plan will affect them and for them it is a concern. >> this supermarket has been serving customers since 1930. the owners are grateful. they're still concerned about how the decision will affect their business. >> it is overly burdensome to the retailer. any small business. it is unworkable, it's hard to administer. to be penalized as a businessman, we don't need any more expenses. >> companies that have more than 50 employees will be required to provide affordable health insurance for their workers, and if they do not, they have to pay a penalty.

the penalties are based on a complicated formula. they start at $2,000 for every worker that doesn't have health insurance. an economist says in some cases it may be cheaper for businesses to pay the penalty than to provide their employees with health insurance. >> my suspicion is that many of the larger employees will pay the penalty and send employees out looking for insurance, and that is where we'll see some interesting dynamics. >> the new law does go into effect for small businesses in 2014. >> thank you. local red cross officials say the blood supply has reached emergency levels. it is 5000 units short of what is needed for the month of june -- it is 1500 units short of what is needed for the month of june. >> we're trying to avoid a

a crash has moved off to the shoulder near perring parkway and that has caused a slowdown. down to 70 miles per hour. we have a crash at riverside parkway and philadelphia road. several incidents closed to the city. we have some of fire activity. a crash reported eastbound 40. a 29, we have report of a crash as well. this is the west side of the beltway at baltimore national pike. you can see some slowing in the outer loop. switching over to a live view of the topside of the beltway. you can see very slow traffic from the accident. you can see the outer loop is backing down quite a bit. leave some extra time. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> thank you. good morning.

>> welcome back to 11 news today. 6:44. police say a pedestrian was struck late last night in north baltimore. the reports of a person being struck by a vehicle. that person's condition is not known at this hour. police of looking into a deadly shooting in northwest baltimore. police responded to denison street near clifton avenue and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. fire crews are putting out the hot spots of a fire that broke out overnight in south baltimore. fire crews arrived on the scene

approaching perring parkway. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> it was a rough start in some neighborhoods this morning. strong thunderstorms from pennsylvania with large hail and wind gusts over 60 miles per hour. you can see how fast the storms were going. they're pushing into delaware. they are getting hammered on the new jersey shore. did thunderstorms off the coast of atlantic city. this will continue to move to the east. we'll be just fine around baltimore for the morning commute. we have some cloud cover and that will help to hold the temperatures down. you can see the core of the heat over in the ohio valley. this is the actual temperature, 108 in st. louis.

we made it to 96. you can see the core of the heat and i think will stay on the edge of the big time heat. a lot of times you get the thunderstorms that travel down on the other side. we will be in that neighborhood for the next several days. we could see classes of the thunderstorms at any point for the next four or five days. 74 in 20. taneytown. 30% chance for a thunderstorm to develop later this afternoon. high temperature between 96 a nd 101. i don't think we'll break a record. the record for today is 105.

the average high temperature is 87 degrees. it should be a nice day to be on the water unless more storms develop later. wave heights a foot or less. a couple of rounds of a thunderstorms at the beach this weekend. the temperature will be slightly cooler near the water. 97 degrees tomorrow. then we step down the temperatures and keep the chance for a thunderstorm each day through tuesday. we will drop into the upper 80's by the fourth of july. i hope so. >> thank you. here is matt lauer with a look at what is coming up next on the "today" show. >> good morning. a blistering heat wave stretching from nevada all the way to new england. some cities will hit all-time highs.
