they have been told who the team is. and maybe what is going on right now is they're trying to decide if they still come out as a full team woman unit or not. or something even less dramatic, greater than the five. >> for all of them back there, this is the greater emotion than they most likely have ever experienced in their entire lives. these athletes have grown up together in the sport of gymnastics. they truly are good friends and for those that fell a little bit short, it is devastating, and they all want to be there to console and congratulate.

it has been about 48 hours since the freak storm hit the area, knocked out power for millions of people. now the heat is sticking around and hundreds of thousands are still in the dark tonight. the good news, crews are making progress. the bad news is, progress can be slow. at last check, more than 255,000 b.g.e. customers still without power. since the storms hit. b.g.e. has restored power to nearly 400,000 cufts -- customers, so the question, which will everyone get their power back. b.g.e. officials say some will have to keep waiting. >> at this time we are still saying it will be a multiday restoration. we believe the majority will be restored late into this week. >> late this afternoon, the governor said he was pushing b.g.e. and other utility companies to get power back sooner. he says he realizes the storm came unexpectedly but crews need

to do all they can. thousands of extra crews are headed to the state to help b.g.e. restore power. as people struggle to cool homes without power, businesses are strug struggling, too, from a.t.m.'s to grocery stores, it's hard to operate without electricity. >> we're set up outside of the eddie's in rowland park across from the library and b.g.e. is around the corner working on downed power lines in the area. earlier, we saw this closed sign saying they had no power. the lights are back on and hopefully restoration will be underway momentarily. if you need ice to refrigerator, in in deep do-do, more or less. >> it's an inconvenience dennis dedrick has experienced firsthand since losing power after the storm. >> i went to the store and it's closed because it's out of

power. >> the grocery store has had to turn customers away because it doesn't have power. >> it's a killer. you can't do business. you have no registers, we have no power. >> in the meantime, eddie's is trying to salvage whatever food it can by transferring some to but have to throw some perishable items away. >> it's definitely a rough situation. we've gone through it several times in the past but nothing this bad because it's been two days and we don't know when it's coming back. >> the businesses aren't the only ones affected by the wide spread power outages. this has been a ghost town since friday. over at the b.p. on york road, gerard messiah is relieved he found a gas station with power. >> the crown down there, they were closed. up the street, they're closed and i forth the name of the other one. >> three gas stations.

>> despite the discomfort of the outage, dedrickson remains positive. >> this' not the first one and it probably won't be the last. >> you're taking a live look at the b.g.e. truck on the side of the dark end of rowland park street. i talked to one of the workers and he said they're working to restore power to this area. there's no street lamps or anything on the other side of the street. no clue on when power will be fully restored but crews are working on it. we're out in rowland park, tv 11 news. thank you. officials say there are things you can do to help b.g.e. get power back. the biggest thing is to report outages and downed wires. >> all our 877 number. let us know you have your outage of the there are still a lot of wires that are down. oftentimes they're covered by trees. we need you to stay away. if you see something, call and report the downed wire.

>> just such a hard time to be without power because of the oppressive heat. >> that's the double whammy with this thing. this evening we're watching on radar a storm coming out of indiana and ohio that looked like it was coming together as a mesoscale convective systems, one of the steps in developing a durracho. it's coming into west virginia and it's not well organized so it doesn't look like it's going anywhere. it looks like it's breaking up a little bit but might bring a later tonight. the heavier stuff looks to pass to the west but the heat and humidity continue in the week ahead with a thunderstorm chance. >> thank you, john. for many baltimore city residents, 10:00 a.m. couldn't come fast enough, when the city began distributing ice in four different locations. >> i slept in my car one night and stayed in my house the other

night and i can't take the heat no more. >> for people who can't take it anymore, and there are lots of them, baltimore city is giving away bags of ice. in the parking lot of the northwood plaza shopping center, it was a welcome sight on day two of no power. >> it's a blessing. i don't care if i have to go far, it's a blessing. thank you so much! >> people were allowed four bags and some came to get ice for elderly neighbors. >> some people won't have the means to replenish their food. fortunately for me, i will, but everybody won't number that situation. >> that's really nice because we need ice. food going bad real fast. >> it's humanity and people looking out for others that don't have. the quezada center on reisterstown road is serving as one of the city's cooling centers and cool is the word with lots of cold water, ice and

a.c. we're told more than 1300 people have come here since the storm friday night. >> a lot of people still don't have power and they can come here and rest and get cool until 7:00. we're here to help. >> and for an update on where to get ice tomorrow, call 311. if you're looking for more than ice, perhaps a place to sit and cool down, emergency cooling centers will stay open into the week. there are a total of 11 around the city. look at the screen. we're told they'll be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. we're told that the locations may change so you should call 311 before you head out. we have a complete list of the cooling centers on our website, wbaltv.com. at least two deaths in maryland are blamed on the storm, both by falling trees. montgomery county place say a tree apparently killed a 71-year-old woman in her bed in silver spring. and in anne arundel county, a tree hit a car, killing the drive, 25-year-old kevin o'brian of edgewater was pronounced dead

at the scene in harwood and richardson roads in harwood. isn't just here in maryland. tonight, hundreds of thousands are without power in the district and crews there are also working around the clock. >> this particular storm, we've encountered almost twice as many as hurricane irene last summer. this is on the level of hurricane isabel. >> another big problem of the storms, commuting. was delayed after trees were knocked into the tracks. more than 200 passengers were stranded more than 20 hours in west virginia. finally buses picked them up to finish their journey. if you're comuth commuting tomorrow, you might want to give extra time, especially if you're heading down to d.c. the state highway administration is telling people to take public

police saw him assaulting a woman in the car. the officer caught up with the suspect and they started to struggle, when the officer fired a shot, killing the suspect. >> domestic situations are definitely one of the things police prepare for because you're dealing with increased emotion, anger and sometimes rage. the suspect has been identified as 38-year-old michael wudtee of baltimore county. date is july 1 and more than 200 laws took effect at midnight. the flush tax doubled to upgrade sewage treatment plants. a measure cushing septic tank use is also on the books. and we have a list of all the new laws available on our website. soldiers and families gathered at fort meade this morning.

>> emergency crews rushed to the scene of a house fire, 3700 block of valley road just before 6:00 tonight. officials say the flames were coming from the kitchen and attic. crews say no one was injured and it looks like it was an accident but the fire caused about $100,000 in damage. crews in colorado say they plan to lift more evacuation orders tonight, bringing the total number of evacuees down to 3,000. more than 30,000 were evacuated during the peak of the waldo county blaze. >> how do you restart? you look out and there's nothing standing in front of you and the occasional house here and there. how can you ever feel normal again? >> authorities are still trying to figure out what started the blaze that has already cost more than $8 million to date. the big story out of the capital this weekend, the supreme

court's ruling on president obama's healthcare law. the ruling came down thursday but the debate is likely to last into the fall. obamacare is one of the most heated topics on the campaign trail with both sides gearing up for the election day fight. >> let me tell you what we're not going to do. we're not turning the american healthcare system into a western european system. >> if republicans make as their number one issue the repeal of healthcare, they'll allows the election in the house, the senate and the presidency. >> another issue wayne weighingy on voters' minds, the economy. the citizens of mexico took to the polls today in an election that's expected to return the institutional revolutionary party to power. in some polling places, lines were blocks long. penito is with the p.r.i.

>> now, your 11 insta-weather plus forecast with meteorologist john collins. >> summertime combination heat, humidity and thunderstorms. we haven't had any here today. there's been some in new jersey. it was in new england earlier today. the line has shifted south. out to the west, we have been watching the storm complex out of indiana and ohio, into the mountains of virginia, breaking up a little bit. intense precipitation south of charleston, headed for virginia in a southeast direction. the most intense rains look like they'll pass to the south of baltimore but there is stuff up near pittsburgh so we might here thunder claps overnight tonight as the system comes through and there's a front in the area, too. another hot and humid one today. 97, the high at the airport. innerharbor hit 101. the record, 103. normal is 87 degrees.

we haven't been down there for a while. 73 and 82 are the morning lows this morning and right now it's 84 in annapolis, 81 on the board walk. 80 at edgewood. 76 at parkton. westminster is 81. at oakland, the temperature is 73 degrees, one of the cooler spots around. we look at the satellite imagery combined with the radar, wired view, you see this complex. it was more exact over ohio earlier and looked like it might trying to develop into a mesoscale type storm that leads to duracos possibly but it's moving into the mountains so it's not as big a threat and will not be anything on the scale of what happened friday night but nonetheless, it's there and if you draw a line, you can see a front up there and this stuff is developing out ahead of that front. the air is a little cooler

behind that front and less humid and the air is very hot down in the south again. the pattern hasn't changed all that much. the front was south of us yesterday. has gone back north and will go south again early this week and come back north again so it's going to be in the neighborhood along with the heat and humidity. you can see the effects of the front just north of us, temperatures in the greens have cooled into the 70's and it's in the 70's where it's been raining in ohio and west virginia, too, so there is a little less hot air back there but we're not really going to see that cooling all that much here. warm and humid overnight, scattered storms possible, looks like a lot is south of us. 68 to 75 the overnight low with light north winds once the front slips to our south. this evening, a slight risk of severe weather. we're not necessarily the prime

targets during the day tomorrow but could see some. the storms will be mostly south, might see something isolated around here. hot and humid tomorrow, 90 to 95 the high again. insta-weather future cast shows storms heading south and isolated or widely scattered stuff developing in the afternoon and evening. tuesday, isolated storms possible, much to the west of us and as we get into wednesday, independence day, a front to our north may help to develop storms so the fireworks forecast, warm and humid on independence day evening. may be some thunder and temperatures in the 80's. seven-day forecast, 90's all week long, plenty of humidity and rain chances almost every day but highest chances wednesday into thursday. everything else is isolated. it will be a little cooler next weekend. >> we are full in the olympic spirit. >> it is july, we have reached the month of the olympics and
