a little hard to see on the radar. i have a red circle to the west of baltimore where a new thunderstorm cell moves across the city area right now. that is a pretty heavy rain. we have had about one-quarter inch of rain. wet pavements may be causing some traffic problems. >> good morning to you. if you are coming in from frederick county, we have an accident. just getting word of some lane closures there. digging word of a new accident. that is the latest one coming in. they start to see some delays. there is a crash clearing there. watch out for slow spots. so far so good.

again, we have a problem eastbound. getting reports that two left lanes are closed. the scale live view of traffic. 95 to 32. looking pretty good after recovering from an early-morning fire. no sign of delays here. watch for delays propping up. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> new this morning, baltimore city firefighters injured while battling a blaze. a fire crews arrived on the scene. there were battling the blaze when the ceiling collapsed, sending one firefighter through the roof. there is no word on his condition. one of those companies call to put out that fire was struck co.

15. a victim of city budget cuts. >> good morning. >> closures were supposed to take in fact june 30. there were extended until today because of the heat wave. that one on montfort avenue is expected to close today. the company is set to close october 1. the issue of closing these companies was hotly debated among city council. the plan ends the daily rotating closures. the union members argue that shutting companies down permanently would be dangerous for residents and firefighters. it is simply a reallocation of resources and not have a negative impact on response time. >> we have to identify where in the city can cover it.

we have to identify a company and stick it out of the system. >> we need to have every resource available to us to protect them. we take an oath to protect the citizens of baltimore. it is getting tougher and tougher and tougher. >> they ended up passing a budget that will shut down the fire companies. also, there were no layoffs associated. reporting live in the studio. >> thank you. meanwhile, in best years of trying to figure out what set off a deadly fire. a young boy ran to his mother to call 911. they found the body of a woman inside. >> we have seen her. we did know that her husband passed away recently. that was really all that my family knew about her. >> it is unclear how the fire started.

officials think it may have started in the kitchen or bedroom area. this is the second deadly house fire in the past week. no word on if the home had a working smoke detectors. >> without a place to call home after it went up in the fire. firefighters arrived on the scene in the 9700 block. it is believed the fire began on the third floor and was made harder to bring under control when the building collapsed. residents could only stand by and watch when their homes went up in flames. >> everybody comes out and we see this big blaze. it was as bad as it can get. it was black smoke. no residents were hurt, but two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

minor injuries. >> police say the boys had been playing basketball together saturday. it is not known what may have caused all three to drown, but police did not suspect foul play. police looking into why a man was shot and killed. no word on the victim's identity or what may have prompted the shooting. >> today, congress returns to capitol hill. lawmakers are expected to spend most of the month pushing partisan members. 11 news washington reporter has the details. >> today, members of the house are expected to start talks to appeal president obama's health

morning. we want to look at the rain now. east of us, we see some moderate rain shower activity. just east of frederick and moving toward parts of howard county. this is on top of some very heavy rain. because of all the lightning and everything three baltimore county school closures are because of no power this morning. they closed today for activities because of this rain that came through overnight tonight. let's take a look at the temperatures right now.

another girl is now in critical condition after being left in the hot car. you may remember him as the mysterious naval officer. he was also in classic films such as from here to eternity and the poseidon adventure. died from failure -- dead at the age of 95. a baby golden eagle is recovering this morning. phoenix was caught in the middle of eight fired two weeks ago. the local men found the bird and brought him to a rehab center. officials say he will fly again and they hope to release them into the wild next year. >> are you having a hard time accessing the internet this

we're joined live in the studio with more details. >> the company on montfort avenue is one of the two closing today. just less than a firefighter from that company was injured when a ceiling collapsed fighting a fire on north washington street. >> the idea was set forth in the proposed city budget. the shutdown three companies in order to fill a budget gap. no fire fighters would be laid off. 66 will be reassigned. >> we have to identify where in the city we can cover the best. identify a company. >> the two closing today are on north montfort. the third is on west lafayette ave. the plan got mixed reviews at city hall. >> i think we cannot afford not to. it is not that much money.

white shorts and black sneakers. anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. >> an adult soccer tournament ends in gunfire. they hit the three people, including a 16-year-old who was shot in the head. police found one suspect in a getaway car who died from the gunshot wound. still no word on the motive. a maryland state trooper is recovering after chasing a suspect that ended in the suspects suicide. police say the trooper tried to stop him after seeing a passenger in his car not wearing a seatbelt. nelson refused to stop. during the chase, melvyn round of the patrol car causing it to overturn and catch fire. melvyn's car also lost control

>> welcome back to a 11 news today. just when you thought they were done, mother nature is making more room -- more work for repair crews. just after the last group of customers spent nine days, without electricity, this last group of storms cut more power. a tragedy for three youngsters over the weekend. police say the boys, two 12- year-old cousin had been playing basketball together. then they made their way to the creek where they drowned. it is not known what caused them to drown, but police do not suspect foul play. baltimore county police are still looking into why a man was shot and killed. the shots were reported around 2:00 this morning. there is no word this morning on the victim's identity or what may have caused the shooting.

pretty good rains. this last rain producing over 1 inch of rain. we are also beginning to slide this whole thing itself. it does not quite extend to the pennsylvania line. let's switch to a wider view of the radar. as you can see, this band of yellow and red right along the front. ocean city is getting some pretty good rains. we take a look at the radar estimates. off to our south west, this was last night. this up here, this occurred just this morning. it is concentrated more on the city of west word. over 3 inches of rain there.

that stuff that is falling right along i-70 to the east. temperatures, annapolis, 73 degrees. edgewood, alton, 74. 60's out in western maryland. the cold front is right along us. it is in the 60's. eventually, that filters in. no 100's during the day today. right now, it is a stalled front. eventually, it moves to the south. it is a high chance this morning. and the rain will concentrate south this afternoon as our rain chances diminished somewhat. a mix of clouds and son today. -- sun today.
