to the water mains. >> kim dacey joins us live to give us more details. >> these repairs come after an extensive study in march using high-tech equipment that uncovered a new problem. using high-tech equipment like the pipe diver, inspectors found the potential break in southwest baltimore in march. >> due to pro-active work of the department of public works, we have gone ahead of a potential serious matter. >> most of the large water breaks were caused by prestressed pipes. the outer wire on these pipes have failed, causing them to break. today there will be making some adjustments. they will begin replacing 316- foot sections of the 54-inch main to prevent future breaks.
