but we know there's been a multiple movie shooting in denver, colorado. it's a suburb of aurora. now, police are on the scene and at this point there are estimated between 20 and 30 people have been injured with those victims being transported to three local hospitals. a suspect is reportedly in custody, but police could not yet say if that was the only suspect in this shooting. elsewhere, an unsettling new forecast from the national weather service predicts the historic drought stifling more than half the country will likely continue into the fall. that is bad news for food prices down the road, but as nbc's chris clackum reports, there may be a silver lining right now. >> reporter: contrary to what you may think or may have been told, it may be months before the worst drought in 50 years drives up food prices. in fact, meat prices are headed down. >> we would anticipate in the

short term actually food prices for beef, poultry, pork may go down a bit. >> reporter: there's a lot of livestock being rushed to market because there's not enough corn or feed for them to eat, which means meat prices may eventually go up, just not right now. >> this beef today may be $4 a pound. it could easily be $5 or $6 a pound a year from now. >> reporter: however the u.s. agriculture secretary tom bill sack is warning consumers about short-term gouging on grocery items. >> and we want to make sure people understand that now's not the time they should see higher food costs. if you're going to see higher food costs, you would likely see them in the later part of the year or first part of next year. >> reporter: he said in no way, shape, or form are increased food prices are related to the drought and if a retailer says otherwise, he should be reported. chris clackum, nbc news. well, the race for the whois

nashville picked up significant rain. the storms continue to back bild. you can see them drift back to the north. the storms are moving to the south, but back-building means that going to come back at you once again. as far as what we're dealing with in the northeast, we're looking at a cool day from philly to new york. temperatures in the 70s. light rain greeting you on your morning commute in much of jersey and northeast pennsylvania. even west virginia we've got showers and storms to deal with. those areas have cooled off but we're still hot in the middle of the country. 1303 in kansas city. almost all of the central plains were in the 100s. we have heat advisories in south dakota, heat warning in tulsa also. so the heat hasn't left the middle of the country. today will be another scorcher in the 100s. that's a look at the forecast. now here's a look at the weather outside your window. dallas, texas, getting into the triple-digit club once again 1rks 01. oklahoma will be in the hundreds. and the drought conditions tend
