the man one in connection with the abduction of violet ripken. yet she was kidnapped outside her home at gunpoint tuesday morning. the suspect drove her around for hours, but did not ask for a ransom. >> aberdeen police believe this is the man who abducted violet ripken at gunpoint outside her home on tuesday. white male, 180 pounds, with short brown hair and glasses. >> a team of law enforcement agencies is working on the case. the aberdeen police department is in charge. authorities have not developed a motive. the suspect drove around in her silver lincoln town car for about 24 hours and then abandoned her and the vehicle in her community. a neighbor alerted police.

virginia and all across maryland. conditions are favorable for strong to severe thunderstorms as that line moves into the hot, humid air around baltimore. severe storms are ongoing and the red areas appear in new york state, tornado warnings issued in parts of the catskills area in southeastern new our state. a very severe line of storms approaching our area from the north and west and all the region is under a severe thunderstorm watch to:30 advisory. it was a hot day today, 97 at bwi marshall. that is 10 degrees warmer than yesterday and 10 degrees above normal. the record of 101 was set in 1940. still under the heated by three until 8:00 tonight. -- still under the heat advisory until 8:00 tonight. it is still 100 degrees at the

inner harbor. it feels like 110 in cambridge and 113 in westminster. it is scorching hot out there and that is why that storms approaching have a chance to continue past sunset. you can see these bright white clouds billowing up ahead of the front. these are thunderstorms. it will probably not yet passed us until early afternoon. by 10:00 tonight, the main line of storms has passed us. for the next three-four hours we have the potential for a thunderstorm. after that, clear to partly cloudy skies take us into saturday morning. tonight, 74-82 for the low.
