the temperatures stay in the upper 80's to around 90. not a lot is happening. partly cloudy skies at the airport, 73 degrees. 20% chance a for a thunderstorm. the best chance would be south of baltimore. most of you when not see any rain today. we will check the seven-day forecast going all the way into the weekend. --most of you will not see any rain today. >> we start on 95. southbound on 95 near 100, word of a vehicle fire. it is off to the side. it is still impacting your ride. 97 looks pretty good down to 50. we have a disabled vehicle in annapolis. so far so good on most of the other major roadways.

light street is closed between baltimore and lombard. that is because of water main break repair. then monument over towards patterson park. here's a quick live look at traffic. 295 picking up in volume southbound down towards 32. we switch over to 95 at 395 in great shape. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> the trial is set to begin today for the university of maryland accused of threatening a campus rampage. he was arrested back in march after they say he posted messages online. he was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation where he was ruled competent to stand trial. a hearing for a man who ran in

and out of a movie theater cursing and saying he had a gun. this happened in annapolis last week. the bail hearing was delayed until today. free tickets handed out by the hundreds to city officials. >> free passes to shows at 1st mariner arena. kim dacey is live this morning with details. good morning. >> good morning. more than 300 pages of correspondence shows the mayor, members of her staff, and city council members attended a variety of shows here at the 1st mariner arena for free. the shows range from big-name concerts to sporting events to the circus. in some cases, the mayor attended with her family. on one occasion, the mayor's office asked for five vip tickets for her husband to attend an mma fight. other tickets went to city council members, including brandon scott.

scott told us he gave the tickets he received to kids at city rec centers and schools. we asked if he sees a problem with politicians asking for and accepting free tickets for personal use. >> the tickets are given to the mayor, so that is not up for me to say who she takes and who she gives it to. it is a drop in the bucket when you talk about the amount of tickets to the 1st mariner that are given out. >> a spokesman for the mayor's office said the city provides hundreds of complimentary tickets to hard-working employees, school students, elected officials, youth leagues, community groups, and charitable organizations. tickets are not paid for with taxpayer funds. the general manager of the arena says the policy of giving out comp tickets to city officials and politicans has been in effect since 1988. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. a spokesman for the mayor's

office -- i guess we're going to move on. the anne arundel county council is taking steps to redefine when somebody can be removed from office. john leopold was indicted for misusing his security detail. the county council has taken steps to clarify the lack of a law when someone is convicted. >> we never had that problem before. >> the county council approved two resolutions saying they would be removed if they received a conviction or failed to do the duties of their office. >> it is date 11 of the summer olympics and the united states

>> good morning. 78 degrees at the maryland science center. it is 8 humid start to the day downtown. we'll get to the forecast in just a bit. i'm continuing my olympic venture as i learned to sail on the inner harbor. wind is very important in being able to sail. you have to know where the wind is coming from. correctlyt just sail

into the wind. it is an important skill to have. anybody who does sail has a good understanding of the weather. jeffrey can affect the wind as well -- geography can affect the wind as well. buildings can affect the wind direction. as you might imagine, this came in handy. so much of my degree has been spent learning about the wind and our changes with time. it was a pretty fun experience to learn how to sail. it was very fun. i do want to give the bay forecast for today. a great day to be sailing. southeast

harbor. we will see that the next half- hour. thank you. we start down in the tropics. this is a tropical storm ernesto. it got a little bit stronger overnight. good banding features. it will probably become a hurricane over the next 12 hours. it does think it will, in short in the northern part of belize sometime tomorrow morning. the worst of it should stay south of cancun. it would be nice if some of that rain made it into the southern part of the united states. 73 at the airport. there is a front that stalled south of baltimore. the dew points in the 70's. up to the pennsylvania line, it feels very comfortable. south of baltimore, it still ill

out and is off to the side. light street is closed between baltimore and lombard. closures remain in effect. sinkhole repairs along monument street at patterson park. the north side it checks out ok for the park filled region. 56 on the west side outer loop around baltimore national pike. starting to build in that area. southbound 295 down from 175 is getting a little sluggish. the break lights on outer loop west side at baltimore national pike where we're just trying to develop a delay. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> we now know more about the man who carried out the latest mass shooting at a sikh temple in wisconsin.

police say wade michael page was the lone gunman. he shot and killed six people including a police lieutenant, who was reportedly shot nine times. page was shot and killed by police. police are trying to determine a motive for sunday's attack. a man could strike a plea deal today which would allow jared loughner eric to plead guilty in exchange for life in prison. if he's able to understand the charges, the judge will consider accepting a plea. firefighters are battling a huge blaze at a california refinery. so far no injuries have been reported and note evacuations have been ordered. local firefighters and hazmat

teams are assisting. no word on what sparked that fire. steel mill is up for sale today in new york. it will be auctioned off later this morning. they shut down the sparrows point blast furnace and notified officials about layoffs. hollywood casino wants to return between 400-500 slot machines to the state, citing declines in revenue. a new restaurant is set to open at the casino later this month. it is getting cheaper to close on a house. jane king has the bloomberg business report.

mariner arena, unless you're lucky enough to get on this list. 11 news obtained over 300 pages of correspondence between the mayor's office and 1st mariner arena arranging for free tickets to dozens of events. in some cases, the mayor attended with her family. on one occasion, the mayor's office asked for five vip tickets for her husband to attend an mma fight. other tickets went to city council members. we asked the general manager of the arena about the policy of awarding free tickets to politicians. they'll provide a city with a small portion of comp tickets. this has been the process since 1988. the comp tickets are provided to the arena by the promoter. the mayor addressed her decision to take relatives in the skybox at m&t bank stadium back in february. >> i am sure you would like to think there's a deep philosophy behind it, but there's no guiding principle.

sports -- ava is working her way through all the olympic sports. tropical storm ernesto has lots of banding features. it will probably become a hurricane later this morning. here is the track from the hurricane center. if you get over 74 or 75 later today. make landfall as a category 1 hurricane and travel into the southern part of the gulf of mexico by the end of the week. it has been a severe drought in the southern plains and they could use some of that rain. it will be nice if some of that rain made it into the southern plains. 73 at the airport. 71 in cockeysville. we have a front that stalled across baltimore city. south of the boundary, the dew points are in the 70's and it
