cause the derailment. as we were gathering information from authorities about this incident, a family rushed up to us reporters asking if we confirm who these victims would be. the family is concerned it may be their daughter and a friend of theirs. the daughter and a friend were near the train tracks on top of this bridge tweeting. 10 minutes before the incident was the last time the girls tweeted. they are trying to confirm if this might be their daughter who we found out is a james madison student. again, right now a authorities are not confirming if they

breaking news. the derailment of several train cars in howard county. >> nadia ramdass is live at the scene. >> we are near the police department, up five minutes away from the scene because we had a difficult time getting a picture. the area right now is not a place you want to drive. frederick road is closed from ellicott city into baltimore county as crews continue to investigate the scene. this is the video we shocked a few minutes ago. and eastbound train came off the tracks on the bridge in historic ellicott city. 21 at of 80 freight trains turned over. oal, butcontained a cal

not hazardous material. two people are at the scene. a family came up to a number of us on the scene looking desperately for their daughter who is going into were junior year at james madison university. the family said she was tweeting from where the incident occurred. they are concerned that the victims may be their daughter and her friend. the train operators were not harmed. the cause of the incident is still being investigated. this is still an ongoing investigation. stay tuned to wbal-tv for the latest. nadia ramdass, wbal-tv 11 news. >> we're talking about an

why the family is concerned that their daughter and her friend were the victims. >> we know the area is closed off. give us a sense of the chaotic nature of this derailment. >> absolutely. we talk to a county executive. they are concerned that some of the trains fell on a couple of vehicles in a parking lot underneath the bridge. nobody was in there at the time. they checked it out. it was coal and trains that landed on the vehicle. it was a bit of a mess. i cannot imagine this being cleared any time soon. >> will give you an opportunity to go and get more information. more coming up next two hours.
