>> we have had a nice trend. i didn't see the august heat coming back. we had some rain yesterday evening. there is a touch of fog in some neighborhoods. 62 degrees right now at the airport. the forecast for today -- a mixture of sun and clouds. a 20% chance for a thunderstorm this afternoon. most of you will not see any rain. when we come back, we will check the seven-day forecast going all the way into the weekend. >> good morning. that train derailment in ellicott city is causing some problems in downtown ellicott city. main street is closed in downtown ellicott city. the detour is 40 west.

avoid the downtown ellicott city if you can. in westminster, we have a crash. we're checking into lane closures. looking okay on the major roads. 11 minutes on the beltway on the topside. six minutes on 95 northbound between 100 and the beltway. this is the beltway at wilkens avenue. looking good. this is 83 at padonia road. north and southbound is moving just fine. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> we continue to follow breaking news in howard county. two people are dead following a train derailment in ellicott city. >> this is right on main street

were passes the railroad museum. nadia ramdass is joining us live. >> we are live in howard county sheriff's department because we could i get a picture from the actual scene. downtown ellicott city has an emergency crudes from baltimore and howard county. take a look at some video was shot a few moments ago. just before midnight, a csx train derailed off the historic bridge. 21 out of a free trains derailed and turned over. the cars contained coal. rescue workers discovered two people dead at the scene. a family is searching for their daughter and her friend who they believe were at the site of the incident at the time of the

incident. we will continue to try to figure out if that is their child. we have been sold to the train operators were not harmed. csx is investigating the incident and bring in their heavy cranes to move the rail cars off of some vehicles. we were told a number of trains and piles of coal fell on these vehicles. the vehicles were searched and nobody was found. this area of main street and frederick road is pretty busy right now. the roads are completely shut off. they don't expect this. to be opened until the integrity of the bridge and the rails are given the ok. this will be a long day for

people who have planned to travel in this area. nadia ramdass, wbal-tv 11 news. >> another marylander has made the ultimate sacrifice. 20-year-old patrick feeks is a navy seal from edgewater. he was among 11 casualties in last week's crash of a military helicopter. he was assigned to a special warfare unit. >> a police officer was killed in a crash. investigators say the officer and his partner were chasing a suspect just before 1:00 near the powdered milk exit. police say he lost control of his car and ran off the highway into a ditch. one officer suffered non-life- threatening injuries.

officials are still looking for the car and the driver the officers were pursuing. >> officers found victor portillo stabbed to death in the basement of a home shortly after 6:00 a.m. on monday. a blood trail led investigators to a home a few blocks away. >> they banged on the door. >> that's when i told there there was a lady and a baby in there, just in case. >> investigators have declined to discuss the connection to the incident. a deadly shooting last night in southwest baltimore. a man was shot just after 9:00 p.m. on monday evening. his identity has not been released. police have made an arrest in

last week's triple shooting. investigators say tyroll hill shot two men dead. police have not told us what prompted the shooting in the first place. >> hundreds of laid-off steelworkers are hoping to get some answers about their future. benefits for almost 2000 are about to end at the end of this month. they are open to find a new steel company to purchase the plant. >> i have been a union member for 38 years and i'm not receiving that service. all i'm getting is a bunch of lip service.

>> the plant was purchased for $72 million from rg steel. top-ranked republicans began distancing themselves from rep todd akin after he made some comments about raped an abortion. hallie jackson has more. >> todd akin has to apologize but said he is staying in the race. >> that is something that nobody on either side of the aisle agrees with. >> that is why the head of the republican national committee says gop representative todd akin should end his run for missouri's senate seat and forget about showing up at next week's convention in tampa after akin's statement that a woman's body can prevent pregnancy in the case of "a legitimate rape." >> "a legitimate rape." like some rapes are not

downtown ellicott city is flooded with emergency crews as they continued to work on this incident that claimed the lives of two people. just before midnight, a train heading eastbound the relic of the historic bridge on main street in ellicott city. 21 out of 80 freight trains derailed and turned over. rescue workers discovered two people dead at the scene. their identities have not been made public. a family is searching for their daughter and her friend. we have been informed that two train operators were not harmed in the incident. csx is in the process of bringing in their heavy cranes to move the rail cars off some

no word on a suspect behind a deadly shooting last night in southwest baltimore. a man was shot just after 9:00 p.m. on monday evening. his identity has not been released. a deadly stabbing in dundalk. officers found victor portillo stabbed to death in the basement of a home surely after 6:00 a.m. on monday. a blood trail led investigators to a home of some four blocks away. police took three people away from that home. investigators declined to discuss their connection to the incident. >> the campaign trail is moving west as the romney campaign tries to but controversy aside. the president gets back on the stump in two dollar ground
