derailment. a freight train went off the tracks and killed a two college student. first, we have breaking news of prince george's county. maryland state police have issued an amber alert for cezar stephen martinez. he was abducted by his father around 6:00 p.m. last night. the child weighs 18 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair. his father is described as 5'4", 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. you see his picture on screen. was last seen driving a 2006 green chevy equinoxes. the license plates are 7ag6950. anyone with information on the child's whereabouts is urged to call 911.

baltimore county police are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 16-year-old. investigators say she was last seen on august 17 at her grant wrote -- grandmother's home in dundalk. and has'3", 162 pounds black hair and brown eyes. she was last seen wearing a white and pink striped blouse, jeans and silver sandals. there is concern to may have gone to meet someone she met on- line. anyone with information should call 410-307-2020. now to our other big story. a howard county community is mourning the loss of two teenagers who were killed when a train derailed in ellicott city. we have team covers a night of the devastating impact of this wreck. we begin with sheldon on late-breaking details on the investigation could >> this is

the first day of a lengthy investigation. there are still ntsb investigators of tiut here. several of them will stay out here through the night to try to figure out what went wrong. this 3,000 foot freight train was on his way to baltimore when it derailed in ellicott city around midnight. >> i heard a noise, sound like a car crash. boom, boom. >> the three crewmembers on board -- i reviewed their statements. all of their statements indicate they felt nothing. and they saw nothing. >> ntsb official says the train was traveling and authorize 25 miles per hour when the first 21 cars went off the tracks, dumping coal everywhere and killing two women. the bodies of the women were found buried beneath the coal. the cause of their death will be

determined by an autopsy. crews spent the day trying to write these overturned train cars. several investigators are trying to figure out what happened. the train's brakes were automatically apply. >> it is an automatic function of the air brake system. there was a separation in the airline, which causes the emergency brake to applaud. >> this is the first day of what could be a lengthy investigation. nine investigators combing through evidence. >> we are looking at every single aspect of this occurrence. rail, track. we are investigated this accident to determine not just what happened but why it happened so that we can make recommendations that will prevent similar instances from occurring again. >> we are taking a live look at one of those train cars that has

bail tonight charged in a home invasion in baltimore county. she now faces assault and armed robbery charges. on july 30, 75-year-old gwen returned from walking her dog only to find carrilla had broken in. she threatened the woman with a knife and dragged her into the basement. baltimore city police say these people prayed and elderly residents skimming victims of money, claiming they owed property taxes. they are facing several charges, including robbery and extorting vulnerable adults. police say that pretended to be city tax collectors demanding payment from homeowners. >> in one incident, they tied a victim up. they have slapped them. in another incident, they have put towel over someone's head. >> investigators say it is

all around the mid-atlantic. afternoon high temperatures this time of year only in the 70's and low 80's. even as far south as charlotte, n.c., the high was 83. 77 on the outer banks. still, overall, the temperature is not too bad. seems like we have worked past the worst of summer 2012 as far as the heat and humidity goes. 83 iat the airport. the morning was cool. 61 at the airport. we saw some showers pop up to the south of baltimore and parts of virginia, tried to move into parts of southern maryland. a line of showers trying to hold together and the western maryland mountains. they will continue to fall apart over the next two hours. temperatures will continue to cool h ere.
